Recently I went on my second visit over to Crescent Moon Wine Bar, and was just meh. Semi-impressed, but a little disappointed overall. The first time I came out was for one of their Thursday night salsa nights. Live music, salsa dancing, what more could you ask for? I felt like the first time I had a decent experience, but recently we came in and it was just mediocre. We recently came out to salsa night for a birthday party. Due to the rain we recently experienced in Houston, salsa night was cancelled. I understand things happen, but Crescent Moon didn’t notify anyone. We were all just sitting there for about an hour waiting for the music. Finally the waitress came around and asked me if I wanted to order a drink, and I told her I’d wait till the band came up. She just looked around and was like, «Oh. They’re not coming.» I guess they were never going to tell us? We were really disappointed because this was the whole reason we came out, and they didn’t even bother to let us know when our party was seated. To make up for the lack of the band, they just played some salsa music over the speakers and it was depressing. The waitress was attentive, but all in all nothing to be excited about. Drinks are WAY overpriced. $ 12 for a margarita? What? Wine is good. Cheese is good, but DON’T order the queso. It’s awful. It literally taste like mashed up, burnt beans. They also charged us all sorts of funky for things they said otherwise about. All in all, a weird experience. Oh and they lost my umbrella. Bummer.

I know the Moon and I know the Mgr. and both are great, hence the 5 stars. Great food, service and you won’t go broke enjoying an evening here. Great place to bring a date, your spouse or even solo. Someone mentioned«expensive.» I suppose that depends on your economic disposition. Ever heard of a «cheap» wine bar? This is a class establishment. Dress nice and have a decent job before you enter. If you can’t do that keep your butt at home with your 5 kids and eat popcorn and watch Redbox flicks.

Fun, great place! Expensive but enjoyable. We’ve been 3 times. They have lots of entertainment too. Good wine choices

Our party went here recently and had excellent service. Our waitress was very informative and friendly, this place is amazing for people watching. Our appetizers all had major faults: the fried shrimp had absolutely no flavor. The cheese plate was 20+ dollars for maybe half that worth of cheese. Calamari, same fault as the shrimp, no flavor. I ordered the signature drink The Lonestar Sour with slice of jalapeño which had no heat and the lemon severely overpowered everything. My entrée was the salmon, complete with«forbidden rice, and green beans». The rice seemed straight from a box. Beans were crisp but nothing special, the salmon was scrumptious. Desserts were as follows: bread pudding looked like a burnt hamburger patty drowning in caramel sauce with waaaaayy too much salt. The crème brule was as thin as my phone and had hardly any crunch on the top. And vanilla ice cream, well who can mess that up?.. The highlight of the night was the Gouda grits. This stuff was like crack, the good kind. Forget all the appetizers and split an entrée with your honey so you have more room for the Gouda Grits!

Service was great. But, food is mediocre and over priced. We ordered a charcuterie board. It was a very small portion for $ 24 and the cheeses are served too cold and are very hard to cut(they don’t even have a cheese knife). The calamari is bland and the fried shrimp is very hard to get off of the skewers. The best thing we all shared were the cheesy grits.

Went with a fun group of friends to try out a new place… Crescent Moon. 1. Server was excellent and informative. 2. Basil Martini and Lonestar Sour good, but sad to report — watered down.(Wine was good tho ;-) 2. Décor was not what I expected — it was a mix between a Renaissance Fair and traveling carnie haunted house. 3. Appetizers were a Huge miss… Sigh. Calamari was limp and flavorless, fried crispy shrimp(should’ve known by name) was Rigamortis-like and also flavorless, the $ 24 easy peasy cheese plate was way overpriced and worth $ 12 if that. Ps — serving rock hard cheeses without a cheese knife is lil dangerous 3a. Caesar Salad. Only thing I can say is what restaurant doesn’t offer or have cracked pepper in-house? 4. Since salad n apps ordered prior to entrees to experience quality — we scaled our wallet, expectations and wishes way back and had basic Chicken Marsala and Arriabatta… Nothing to rave or comment about. 4a. The Gouda Grits were tamazing! 5. Desserts — Crème Brûlée served in an inappropriate low plastic dish and not torched, Bread Pudding plated nicely but caramel sauce was gritty granular and too salty, molten chocolate cake with fruit sauce was moist and good. 6. Entertainment — Cool Breeze was fantastic. We enjoyed The sites and sounds of Band and folks of all ages groovin’ on dance floor. We left shortly after dessert and place was pretty full. It was refreshing to see every age, style ++ be out and about having fun enjoying themselves vs sitting at home having a TV dinner and watching the boob tube. Would I run back. Probably not. However, I give Crescent Moon huge props for creating an establishment where one can escape, enjoy a nibbly, Bev, live music and dancing. These kinda places are from the distant past and far in-between.

Don’t waste your time. If you’re over 55 and like cheap wine, watered down drinks(watered down bottles… literally), terrible service, bad Elvis impersonators, and mgmt that thinks they can get«over on you,» then this is the right place for you. My first time there and I won’t be dragged in there again. Calling this place a wine bar is like calling McDonalds a sushi bar.

Service great. Food fantastic! My boyfriend and I hardly eat carbs but everything tastes so good our plates were CLEAR. I’m funny about seaming since most places seem to serve bland food, but you will not find that here! Wine choices are phenomenal. You won’t regret it.

We love this establishment and have made Cresent moon a weekly outing! They have a great menu, full bar, and amazing wine list. But, what sets them apart is … Mike! He is the one that keeps us coming back every week! He knows us by name and knows exactly what we like! He has our drinks ready when we walk through the doors! They also have weekly events and host private parties, so if you haven’t tried them yet, you are missing out!

Walked in and the place looked packed. The host asked if we had a reservation and I informed him that we did not. We were charged $ 5 cover per person due to live band which was ok. Our server took a while to get to us and take our drink order. We placed our drink order while we decided on what we wanted to eat. After 5 minutes of waiting for a beer and a margarita on the rocks, our server asked us for our food ordered. Don’t ask for the pork belly and scallop appetizer because they don’t sell it anymore even though it’s still on the menu. Ask ahead for the Osso Buco because they didn’t have that ready as well and it wasn’t going to be available until the next day. So we decided to skip the app and just order our entrees. We both ordered the beef filet that came with sautéed spinach and truffle mashed potatoes. I asked for a salad before my entrée. It took 25 minutes to get our food but we were being entertained by the salsa lesson going on so we weren’t that bothered by the wait. Our server never came to check on us and let us know our food was going to take a little longer nor did she ever asked us if we wanted another drink. We finally received our food and the beef filet for $ 27 each were about 4 – 6 oz cuts. My girlfriends steak looked more like a medallion than an actual steak. They over seared her steak which made it very hard and chewy. I will say she ordered it well done but she has ordered well done steaks in other restaurants and never had a problem. I ordered my black and blue(rare with a nice charr on the outside) and mine came out fine. The center of the steak was warm and the crust was just how I like it. I ordered mine with a compound butter but the butter was melted and placed in a ramekin.(Compound butter is usually herbs and spices mixed into room temperature butter then rolled, cooled down and sliced and placed on top of a steak, veggies or to finish a sauce) so I was surprised to see a clarified butter type of mixture. Our sautéed spinach was ICE cold and the potatoes were lukewarm so the only thing I ate was my steak. Oh did I mention that our server didn’t check on us until I was almost done with my steak and I had to remind her that I never received my salad. After I was done with my entrée, I then received my salad. We did get a $ 31 comp for the poor quality of food but it wasn’t the money that interested me. When I’m paying $ 27 for a dish, I expect everything to be done well and I also look for a server to be attentive and checking on our table. I still tipped her $ 10 but she could have recieved a lot more if she would have just checked on us more frequently and if our drinks weren’t empty before we even finished our meals. I don’t think we would go back unless we felt like salsa dancing.

Went to see salsa classes, very basic and fun. Music was great as Grupo Kache performed. I tried the crescent moon drink, fresh but not impressive, husband choose a couple of Texas beers. Then I asked for a mojito, not impressive, tasted like lemonade with mint. Asked for liquor on the mojito, they didn’t hesitate and put a little more liquor. Next time probably will just chose to have a bottle of wine. Prepared drinks were not bad, but I can made better at my own house. On the other side the food was REALLY good! My beef tataki was fresh and good quality meat, my husband satisfied with tilapia, the best he ate at restaurants before. Latin salsa night was very FUN! I recommend it, every body was dancing very good I was wondering if they were salsa dancers or something.

Want to find the most refreshing martini? Try the cucumber martini– so delicious! It’s the newest edition to the menu. The beef tataki was also a great starter. medium rare beef — melted in my mouth. The caprese salad big enough for 2 and so good. My friends all loved the pizza add well. I’d give 5 stars but service was a little slow. Having to ask for water me then 5 times is a little much for me.

Pretty decent selection of wines and foods. Happy hour consists of half off wines and selected food. The charcuterie is pretty spot on – and lots of awesome meats and cheeses to choose from. The wine selection is HEAVILY weighted towards California wines, esp in the Merlot and Cabernet selections. You can get an occasional Malbec here, but nothing too fancy. Indoors is pretty lit up with fantastic wine displays and kitsch — its a mix. Overall, décor is nice, bar is very long and approachable. Probably a good place for a date, but not after 7pm because that is when Salsa dancing starts and its very very loud. Your only option is to move to the smoking patio on the front, but its not all that great when its cold out or windy. I would slant this more towards 3.5 stars, but we all know we can’t vote that way. So its going in the books as 4 and based on the wine/food, it deserves it. Not bad for the ‘burbs!

Steaks are amazing. You have to order the bread pudding with bananas foster. It’s melt in your mouth good. The atmosphere/décor is a little different. I love the music, it’s 80s-90s. They have a great selection of wine and alcohol. They have about 15 beers to choose from.

Went on a Wednesday night after a meeting close and was not really impressed. The décor was the nicest thing going for this place. Maybe it was the day of the week, maybe it was our fortune to have a waitress on her 2nd day, and maybe it’s just popular because there’s nothing comperable near. Our service was severely slow. When you come into an establishment you don’t want to wait long after sitting to get a drink. Granted our waitress was extremely new, but it was really, really slow. Especially for the amount of people in the place. A pet peeve of mine is when a server doesn’t write the order down and then something is missing or wrong. Our waitress had to come back to the table to have me point out again my choice of champagne. The drinks and app came after a while. Then out came plates and then silverware. The food was absolutely horrid. The chips were greasy but very cold(?) and the recommended pizza was like cardboard. I did not eat the chips at all and gave them back. On a good note, there were plenty of drink options, the live band was fun and there’s a dance floor. I recommend eating your meal and checking for any special events online before coming. I’ve heard great things about Latin night on Thursdays.

This place was so fun! I came here with my family but I think it is suitable for just about any group gathering: friends, family, date night, girls night out, etc. The service was a little slow but I think the waitress said something about someone going home or calling in or something. We got there on a Saturday night pretty late and luckily we were able to get squeezed in. The food was pretty good too considering this place seems to be more of a wine bar/place to listen to music. Great music as well — a lot of oldies but also some top 40s.

Not many places near Rayford to go for date night that delivers fantastic food, big wine list plus mixed drinks, a live band, and full dance floor with 30+s just having a great time! Try the short ribs for melt in your mouth dinner or the cheese flights with your wine for a great mix of cheeses, fruit, and bread. The bands change daily so check online if you’re looking for a specific genre, and make a reservation if you don’t want to sit at the bar since it fills up fast!

The main thing that I can say about this place is AMAZING! This Wine bar is a perfect place to come here with your friends and family. You can relax, listen to great music and drink all different types of wine. I was very impressed with the environment around. I did not expect for this place to look so beautiful. The lights are dimmed and the interior decorations gives a romantic mood. The bathrooms wow is probably the cleanest I have been to. I had the moon burger with wheat bread and I thought it was good, but a bit dry, but their pizza oh my goodness it was delicious. And the steak fries are to die for very tasty. There was one server there and let me tell you I have never seen a server serve and take care of all the customers like he did. He made it look so easy it was amazing. It is a bit far from my house I don’t know if I will come here again, but it was worth coming that’s for sure. I really had a great time.
