If you think this restaurant looks old that’s because it is. When I was a kid in Springdale this KFC was owned by a very nice guy named Barry Craig Blair(1943 – 2010). He wasn’t the original owner but he must have run this store for at least 20 years. This KFC was here in this same/current location before the McDonalds opened next door and was essentially the first«fast food» restaurant in Springdale. It was originally called Burger Broil and there were Burger Broils in Fayetteville, Lincoln, Bentonville, etc. They all sold Col. Sanders/KFC chicken and were sometimes referred to as «Kentucky Fried Chicken Huts», but they were still at that time primarily burger joints. Eventually the name Burger Broil was dropped and they became KFC’s. Check out the old ad I uploaded if you’re interested in this bit of local history. Perhaps the best thing about KFC is that you get a lot for your money. As of this writing my favorite thing at KFC has to be the $ 5 fill ups. Both the pot pie and famous bowls are included on the $ 5 fill ups menu. If you haven’t tried a famous bowl yet it’s a generous serving of creamy mashed potatoes, layered with sweet corn, bite-sized pieces of crispy chicken, drizzled with home-style gravy and topped with a shredded three cheese blend.
