Growing up in NWA you have the opportunity, if only once a year, to embrace your inner cowboy in the form of the Rodeo of the Ozarks. If you haven’t read the Arkansas Encyclopedia page on this event check it out at . It is one of the largest outdoor rodeos in the nation. It always takes place in the first week of July and it used to always be on the 1, 2, 3 and 4th no matter what days of the week those dates fell. Now they move it around a bit, but in 2015 it will be held on its traditional days of July 1, 2, 3&4. The area around Parsons Stadium is filled with food vendors and even has a mechanical bull for the brave. Parking is close, but be sure to wear your cowboy boots because you may be walking in soft earth depending on the weather, and even if that’s not the case, you will feel better if you look the part even if it’s only one night a year. The Rodeo of the Ozarks parade is the best parade in NWA so check that out too if you have a chance. Cowgirls and Barrel Racin’ — Get ‘em on your mind!
