Went here on a Friday evening. The service was great. Very attentive. The mezzo appetizer was phenomenal. I had the kafta platter and my friend had the gyro. I really enjoyed my dinner. It came with lentil soup which was interesting Salad was seasoned nice. My friend wished her gyro was made of lamb instead of beef. She also wished the meat was thinner sliced. We shared baklava for dessert. Great portions and taste but wished it was warm. I’d definitely go back and highly suggest that you give this place a try. Nice change for Springfield.

Under new ownership, my daughter and I stopped here this afternoon for a very late lunch. I highly recommend Abbey’s if you like Mediterranean food even a little. The owner, Jay, recently moved here from Jordan, and he is an amazing chef! We enjoyed visiting with him. We ordered the House Mezza as an appetizer, a Gyro sandwich plate with a salad, and the Shawarma with salad and soup. The appetizer was beautiful, well balance visually. Delicious fresh ingredients made this a wonderful treat of hummus, falafel, babaganush, tabouli, grape leaves stuffed, with warm pita bread. Our meals were also beautifully balanced and made with the freshest ingredients. I had the house dressing on the salad and it was perfect. Gyro was the best I have tasted! Shawarma was tender and so good. Same salad, a rice that was moist and flavorful, and lentil soup that was fantastic. Jay’s tzaziki sauce is incredible! We had leftovers in part because the appetizer was so large and filling. We took home an order of the baklava. Let me just say that was the best baklava I have ever tasted! We will return, and are telling people about this hidden gem in Springfield.

Went there once, service was friendly, took too long for not being busy at all… none of us liked the food… No one at our table could finish… food was just not good. We will not go back. Sorry. Pricing was too high also. We heard the same from other friends & family.

One of my gamer friends, Sarah, moved to Springfield after several years abroad. We’d met while we were both students at Wittenberg, so we both keep an eye on new restaurants and the like popping up in the Champion City. It was also Sarah who recommended O’Connor’s Irish Pub so highly… obviously, that didn’t go over as well as I’d have hoped. However, when Sarah and her fiancé, Chris, recommended Abbey’s Mediterranean Cuisine, my ears perked up. With Moose’s no longer in operation, Springfield was in dire need of a good Greek/Middle Eastern restaurant… Unfortunately, Sarah’s now 0 for 2 as far as I’m concerned. Abbey’s took up residence in the long-embattled Upper Valley Pike area, which isn’t the greatest spot to start with, but I could easily overlook the ambiance for quality food. Unfortunately, Abbey’s is just mediocre. Jules and I hit up Abbey’s along with two friends prior to a Wittenberg game night, hoping to indulge in some fantastic Greek food. And, while all of the specialties you’d expect to see on a Greek menu are certainly present at Abbey’s, the execution of those dishes just isn’t. Case in point, I ordered the beef shawarma plate. This came with lentil soup, salad, and rice pilaf. The soup was quality, but the plate itself seemed somewhat lackluster. The beef was underseasoned and particularly dry, even crunchy at points. The rice pilaf was well done – exactly what I’d expect from an actual rice pilaf, complete with browned vermicelli – but that alone isn’t enough to salvage the dish on the whole. Surveying the table quickly, this seemed to be pretty much consensus. While Jules’ gyro sandwich was covered in tzatziki sauce, the protein itself was dry and underseasoned when eaten individually. I can’t say that I’m really inclined to give Abbey’s another go, unfortunately. I’d much sooner make the drive to Columbus for The Happy Greek, head to Dayton for Cedarland, or to Kettering for Pasha Grill.

Was pretty good. Portions were small for the price. I would try it again for sure, and may upgrade the review if it is better than my first visit. Food was a touch over cooked and under spiced. The falafel was very good and would recommend. Hummus was also good. The chicken dish was not memorable and the kabobs were dry.

So glad to have a Mediterranean restaurant in our city! This is the real deal — great falafel, schwarma, and other delights. Service is attentive, and Abbey is charming.

Overall, what a pleasant addition to Springfield – ethnic food! Decently busy for a Fri Night but pleased to see service and food a delight! Please get past the sewer odor however, as you enter the front door you will be pleased to find they have masked the odor previously indicated in other posts the rest of the way into their facility. But in order to avoid turning off potentially new diners they really should fix this odor. We were greeted with a smile and were sat quickly for a semi-busy Friday night. They had about three waitresses working and it seemed to work well as service was on point. We were started with a chickpea(?) soup with cumin which was delicious while we awaited our Mezza app we ordered, which was an excellent mesh of various Middle Eastern cuisine which all tasted excellent!(I recommend this if you aren’t familiar with this cuisine.). However it would be wonderful addition if they made their own pita bread here(hint, hint to the owners)! The kafta kabobs were outstanding and nicely seasoned as was the rice… And the portions were very good for the money! House dressing was nicely citric and different! But we were left confused on their«tzaziki» as it was soupy. Enjoyed the Morrocan music videos-brought a nice feel for dining ambiance as well! Although it is time to transition from the Mexican décor and into full-on Middle Eastern. All in all, we will definitely be back in and hope this establishment succeeds! Thank you a wonderful dining experience! Sidenote: I have been to a few Middle Eastern restaurants that start you off with a quick spritz of rosewater to the hands – it’s a nice touch(and not too costly) if they could add this to their diners’ experience!

This is a very nice addition to Springfield. My family and I came here in the middle of the afternoon on Saturday. We were seated immediately, and drink orders were taken quickly. The appetizer of fried kibbi was excellent. My husband had the beef Shawarma sandwich, and I had a gyro. The meats were tender and delicious, and the garlic and tzatziki sauces were refreshing. I truly hope that the residents of this town support this business and help it grow. This is a very welcome change to the plethora of chain restaurants in town.

Excellent food! Decided to try the«new kid» for fathers day, and was extremely glad we did! We(3 adults, 3 kids) started with the House Mezza(appetizer sampler) ~$ 10, to let the family try a bit of everything. The Falafel, humus and tabbulli were a hit with the kids. While the stuffed grape leaves and Baba ghanoush were not their favs, mom and dad enjoyed them. For our entrées I had the Lamb dinner ~$ 20 which was perfectly cooked and well seasoned, mom had the gyro meat dinner ~$ 15 and raved about it. Nana and the 2yo daughter had the chicken kabob dinner which was delicious, our 10yo son had the kafta, again fantastic flavor and our 7yo son had the chicken fingers, a world traveler that one! The portions were generous and the price reflected that. We finished up with a complimentary fathers day Baklava, which again was generously portioned and extremely tasty… one of my favorite desserts. We got out for around $ 100 with tip.

Ok… Came here about three weeks ago with wife and kids. We were greeted with this funky smell and a 10 minute wait for a hostess. No one came, we were freaked out by the funky smell, we left.(Funky = sewer?) Tried again today with just the wife. Again… same funky smell. Going to ignore it this time. Greeted by a toddler and assuming toddler’s mother. Mother seats us, toddler follows. Ordered grape leaves for appetizer. Very, very good… Very small. Toddler roaming the dining area. I ordered the chicken shawarma sandwich with fries. Sandwich was good, a lot of fries. My wife had the chicken shawarma dinner. She reported that her meal was really good. The soup seemed like water-downed hummus, but had a good taste. Sounds weird, I know, but is what it is. Five tv’s playing the same«southwest Asian» music. Ugh — flashbacks to the«Desert Storm» era. Nutshell: food is good. Hopefully they have take out.

First let me start out by saying we had to wait 15 minuets to get a table when the place was not even half full. Finally i asked for a Dr. Pepper and was told they were out. Ok i asked for Mountain Dew also out. I asked for water then we ordered and waited 20 more minuets for the salad. The salad was the best part of the meal. It was good and had good flavor. Then another 40 minuet wait for the worst food i have had in springfield ever. The beef i ordered was so dry tasteless bland and charred it was down right horrible. Would never recommend or go back. ~Critic Kid

Tasty, twice. Clean and comfortable. Pleasant, prompt service, fresh ingredients, comfortably seasoned. If you’re tired of greasy fried, give them a chance. Gyro could be larger for the price but the flavor covers it.

This review will be a balancing act… I’m VERY happy to see new/interesting choices arrive here in Springfield, and Abbey’s gets an «A» for effort… NO complaints regarding service(nor the top-notch Sangria!!) and although the décor remains from its previous incarnation as a Mexican restaurant, I can tell they’ve done a massive clean-up and there’s no more«damp/musty basement» feel to the place. I’m also(unfortunately) a SPOILEDROTTEN New Yorker, but I just KNOW there’s MUCHBETTER Middle Eastern food out there… Heck, the«dearly departed» Moose’s Café here on the East side did it better. Mr. M&P had a pretty good looking combo beef/lamb kebab platter, but I think my Gyro shwarma platter was not much more than a smattering of semi burnt meat pieces over a bed of rice. Entrees come with a(delicious) lentil soup and salad, and we also ordered a falafel appetizer, so we very well-fed, I just was disappointed by my entrée choice. I think I might have been happier(and equally well-fed) with one of their sandwich or salad options… I think/hope they’re here to stay, and that quality continues to improve. We’ll give ‘em another chance, maybe for lunch… We’re behind you, Abbey’s!

The food was delicious and quite affordable. It’s unlike anything currently here in Springfield OH. The portions are nice. The décor is odd because the location was previously a Mexican restaurant. As for the downsides, the service seems a little slow. I still highly recommend the place and hope it succeeds.

My husband and I stopped in tonight for his birthday dinner and overall there were some plusses and opportunities for this new eatery in Springfield. Positives: ~The flavor of the food was great. We ordered the house appetizer where we got to try several of the apps. My favorite was the hummus. Hubby’s favorite was the Baba Ganoush. It has a great smoky flavor ~Waitress was really nice and a good server ~They gave hubby a piece of baklava for his birthday. It was delicious ~Prices we felt were very reasonable. Meals come with soup and salad Opportunities: ~We felt the wait to get our appetizer was a little long. I’d say 25 minutes or so and there were very few people in the restaurant. ~Shwarma Plate — we got the gyro meat and were pretty disappointed unfortunately. We’re used to getting chunks carved off the slab however this felt like it was a super thin sheet of frozen gyro meat, no thicker than a fruit rollup and they cut it into sheds imagine strips like a fettuccine noodle). It just felt like it was skimpy and cheap. ~The«bread» they serve is essentially a flat toasted tortilla. Was really hoping for some great naan. We really were overall pleased. The flavor of the food for the most part was great. Being a new establishment I’m sure they have some kinks they need to work thru. Hope they read the feedback here and take the opportunities to heart. Really want them to succeed. There is no other place like this in Springfield and we hope it grows and flourishes.

After hearing that this new restaurant was open for business my mom and I took my three children out to lunch today. We arrive just a few minutes after noon and it was not busy at all. Tastefully decorated and casual to enjoy a lunch out with my 13 year old, 10 year old and 8 year old children. We LOVE Greek food so we knew what we’d find and yes, pita, feta, gyro but also some new foods we ordered the falafel appetizer and it was wonderful(I didn’t eat the pita that came with it) and the tahini sauce was awesome. My mom and I ordered the Shawarma(sp?) plate, she opting for the chicken and me requesting both chicken and gyro. I also had the garden salad with fresh romaine lettuce(no brown lettuce here!) with their lemon/garlic/olive oil dressing — FANTASTIC!!! The tzatziki sauce was fresh and delicious. I think next time I’ll ask them to hold the rice as I’m trying to watch the carbs, but I ate it today and the whole mean was a delight to our taste buds. All three of my children ordered the gyro(two from the child’s menu and 1 from the adult) and said it was even better than one of our other favorite restaurants. Service was a bit slow but having just opened last week and starting to get busy after our arrival, our waitress was great and delivered fresh drinks as needed and was very attentive to our needs. Oh, the child’s menu is small — kafta, chicken fingers, gyro, and a kabob sandwich. The serving sizes are HUGE, I brought half of mine home with me for dinner as did my son with his gyro. Can’t wait to go back!

An answer to a prayer! Beautifully presented, generous portions, classic Middle Eastern/Mediterranean cuisine. We met the owner Abbey, and she is a breath of fresh air. I hope Springfield welcomes her. The restaurant is clean and simply decorated. We couldn’t make up our mind so we ordered Kafta, Beef, and Lamb served family style over a bed of rice. We started our meal with Humus and pita slices a bowl of beautiful lentil soup and a gorgeous salad. Topped it off with tea and Baklava. Since our eyes were bigger than our bellies we took a bit home. The price was moderate and I would gladly recommend Abbey’s to everyone.
