Applebee’s

Wanted to go here to catch up with a friend over appetizers and deserts, only to be met by the host asking our age. You have to be over 18 to go there after 9 PM… I didn’t know there was a damn age limit. Possibly the dumbest rule I’ve seen at a restaurant, Do the strippers come out at 9:05? Do they hold elections in there? Were they really expecting that much business on a Sunday night? Yeesh…

Are for lunch, service was fast and good was good. I got riblet meal. Great flavor, salad was good and everything tasted good.

My burger was raw. It wasn’t rare or pink. It was raw. Uncooked in the center. To make matters worse, the manager tried to argue with me, once she got up from the bar. The only good thing was the drink from the bartender.
Not only will I never return to this location, but I will actively advise everyone to avoid it at all costs.

Tip: If you are going to offer CAR SIDE to-​go by a designated time it would be nice if you actually brought the food out to the car at that time.
Sat in the car side parking space for 10 minutes before finally going inside. My order was sitting at the bar. When I mentioned I had been sitting in my car for 10 minutes I was told «Yeah, I saw your car but we’ve been busy.»

This location was alright… came by on a Friday night at about 10:30 pm to check out their late night happy hour since this place was right next to my hotel. Apparently a large party had just gotten out because the tables/​booths were trashed. I was on a solo mission and sat at the bar and at first received pretty mediocre/​slow service, but that changed later on after I had some friendly conversation with the bartender lol.
Apparently it’s illegal to discount alcohol during happy hour in Illinois on the weekends? That is what I was told and sadly there were no drink specials… but appetizers were still 50% off! I opted for a Summer Shandy and mozz sticks and the beer ended up costing more than the appetizer which is just and odd thing to see at an Applebee’s. There were a few TVs scattered across the restaurant, but not as many as their newer and more modern locations. I heard that they will be remodeling this location soon to make it more modern with the addition of more TVs, new bar counter/​seating, etc. Unfortunately I’ll probably never be back to this area but if I were I’d be interested in checking out the new digs come fall.

Another win for Applebee’s. We stopped by on Thursday ⁹⁄₁₉ for lunch. Got there at 11:30 and let the waitress know we were in a bit of a hurry. Ordered basics (sandwich and a wrap) and we were had food on the table by 11:55 and were out the door by 12:10.
They’re rapidly becoming my «go-​to» location for lunch from work.

It’s Applebee’s. That pretty much can sum up the review. But really it wasn’t anything special. The waitress was nice, the atmosphere was the same as any other Applebee’s I’ve been to, and the food was the same quality as I’ve always had it. It’s a nice date place or good after a long drive. I’ll not be back here but that’s more due to the fact I don’t even live in IL and was just passing through. But it was nice while I was there.

We were traveling through Springfield and stopped at this Applebees. I am sure this place was nice in 1995, but it is a pit now. Food was ok, service was poor and every thing took too long and needed prompting. There have to be better places to go than this.

Thanks for nothing. Worst Applebees I have ever been to in my life. We sat there for 15 minutes and still received no service. And no, they weren’t busy. There was no reason for it other than just plain bad service. Would give no stars if Unilocal let me. We will never be back!

I don’t think this place is worth stopping in. I don’t know why I thought I could get a martini up at the bar. It was terrible, I think they had mixed another drink in the shaker before making my Bombay Sapphire up with olives. Appetizer sampler was not good at all either. I should have drove somewhere else instead of going across the street from the hotel.
