It is very unfortunate that the place has been through a fire, only weeks after opening, I feel very sorry for them and I hope they come back safely.

Really 3.5 stars — I’ve stopped in ABC for several pre-commute pastries and really enjoyed the croissants(plain, chocolate, and almond), and fruit turnovers. All fresh from the oven. Some days the croissants were more well done than others — something I chalk up to being new and working out the kinks. Breakfast pastry prices are good, but the rest of the menu seems pretty steep for sandwiches, salads, omelets and such. I’m not sure what’s going on — but driving past this weekend(May 10) there was visible construction inside and it didn’t appear to be open. Possible they have already closed up shop(hope not), or they are making some changes. It is a GIANT space, and I can’t imagine the rent is cheap.

I’ve been coming here for lunch several times a week during the last month. The staff is unfailingly warm and welcoming. The salads, sandwiches and coffee are superb. You place your order at the counter, then seat yourself, and the food is brought to you. The establishment is roomy, never feels crowded, and is very clean(including the rest rooms). Parking is never a problem as there is a large parking lot. Additionally, there is enough variety on the menu and with the daily specials to keep it interesting. Highly recommended with pleasure!

pastry chef: benahmida Wanted to let you know that I am no longer working at Au Bön Coin, since April 29th. The reason I am no longer there is that the owner did not want to pay me with a legal paycheck, nor pay me for my job, nor give me the tools to be able to do my job well. I don’t understand why people come to this country to be free to work and be treated fairly, but some people don’t want to be fair on how they treat their employees.

Correction: the rice was supposed to be crusted at the top(I looked up middle eastern food last night because I was so impressed with the food and service). And the pistachio mousse was great.

This place has tasty desserts. They have my favorite, Opera cake! The desserts were of high quality. They looked great visually and very moist! I love sweets, and these were not too sweet, and savory. I also got lunch, and the kabob was similar to any typical kabob place around. The greatest thing about this place, is that it’s all halal. So I can get my tiramisu fix here!

Pretty good. I tried the breakfast croissant special, it was a very tasty sausage/egg/cheese mix. Moist but flaky croissant without being overly greasy, all tasted fresh. Home fries that came with it were flavorful as well, a nice mixture of sliced potatoes, spices and peppers. Oh, and good coffee, they use Illy, which may be par for upscale cafes restaurants but certainly a step up for this area. They charge $ 2.25 for a medium, good price! They should get some display material from Illy so they can advertise they serve it. I went back for lunch for schawarma, which was flavorful, as was the lime tart I had for dessert. What I’ve had of their food here seems good overall, I look forward to trying more. Other than that, the service is good, very friendly, helpful, and fast. Nice enough seating area, it did seem a little cold inside during winter time though. I work fairly close so I can see making this a weekly stop at least. It’s good to see new places raising the bar, this area can definitely use more options. Overall I’d say it’s worth a shot if you’re in the area.

We got red velvet cupcakes to go and I don’t even know what to say. I suspect that they were days old… I had to use a fork to get through the frosting. It was the consistency of rubber and about as flavorful. Very weird. The cake was dry and crumbled apart. I’ve seen other folks comment about a low turnover rate, but if Au Bön Coin wants to succeed, they need to learn that when pastries don’t sell in a day, they need to be thrown away. Freshness = flavor.

The five star rating is for the pastries and the friendliness of the staff specifically. Au Bön Coin makes very wonderful pastries that are definite go-to options when there. I agree that their menu options need some work, however I generally go to a bakery for pastries and bread, so I find no reason to change my review based on the sandwiches they have. Their fruit tarts could use more pastry cream, however their other tarts were quite decadent and enjoyable. Do go here for wonderful service, pastries, and bread(Their almond croissants are awesome!). Also, remember that they are new and need good constructive criticism, as well as support to get better!

My friends and I went to Au Bön Coin for coffee and desert and it was indeed le Bön coin. I asked for a special coffee drink and it was prepared for me with great pleasure. We also had some Moroccan crepes and sweet corn cakes and everything was perfect. Service was excellent as well. We will definitely go back!

The people who work here are so nice. They remember who I am and what I order. The café is spacious and clean. Even though they have only been open three weeks, I have gone about six times. The coffee is exceptional and the pastries very good. I also liked the hummus. Some of the meat dishes could stand improvement, but there is plenty to recommend and I intend to be a repeat customer.

I agree that the staff was extremely friendly and that the facility is clean and pleasant. For lunch, we ordered a chicken Caesar salad and a chicken gyro sandwich and 2 sodas. The salad was ready made and I was told to wait for my sandwich. I waited while the manager settled some dispute with a customer. I continued to wait while he put on gloves to make my sandwich and then he picked up his cell phone and made a call while continuing to make my sandwich. That act disgusted me and I almost cancelled my order right there and then. The salad was hardly a Caesar — it had cucumbers and hard boiled egg and an incredibly small amount of very dry chicken. The sandwich was, well, horrible. It was barely hot and all ingredients were chopped and over dressed. It was served on a baguette that was dry and tasteless, as was the filling, which had no taste whatsoever. I got less than half of it down and threw the rest away. This meal was $ 18.72 and was a major disappointment. We wondered why we were the only customers in the place and now we know why. The server saw us throw our trays with our food away and followed us out into the parking lot. She was very sweet to offer to make us something else but we had to go because we were already late for an appointment. I hope Au Bön Coin can turn themselves around because the concept is a good one. For the price they are charging for food, it should be of much, much higher quality.

Great vegetable dishes and Chicken with olives wonderful bread. The Kabobs are okay, but the merguez is outstanding. Have been there three times already and loved it everytime. The napoleons are delish, the taste takes me back to France and Morocco. The place is clean and parking is plentiful.

The staff are all really friendly. Since they’ve been open less than two weeks I’m overlooking the scarcity of things when I walk in mid-afternoon. The kebab actually tasted good, but I wasn’t a fan of the pita pocket they used. Their coffee is really good. I ended up getting a mocha and it wasn’t overloaded with syrup, which made my day. The pain au chocolate could have been flakier, but the taste and the amount of chocolate were really good. The actual desserts are what made me a fan. The little tiramisu and white chocolate cakes are amazing. The blueberry tart is is really good as well. Also, try the cannoli!

The friendliness of the staff was a four out of five. As this place is relatively new, however, the pastry turn over rate is low and did not taste as oven fresh as i had hoped. Wish the chocolate croissants were more buttery. I also ordered kebabs which were fine but don’t stand out from the other kebab places in the area and which were also smaller in portion while within the same price range. Also, don’t expect the same hot pocketed naan bread every other place seems to give, I got something more like a half loaf of bread and pita hybrid. Bear in mind, they are newly opened and are probably still adjusting. I will come back next month to check out any improvement and make an update.
