Big Easy does not have the classiest of decorations, the most well dressed of employees, or the prettiest of paint colors on the wall. But, it’s definitely worth a visit. However if you go on your lunch break, like I do, do not expect in and out. Do not expect quick service. I don’t think the Big Easy understands the concept of an hour long lunch break. Maybe that’s how they do it in New Orleans? I don’t know. It will definitely take an entire hour. God forbid you end up behind a big group of people because orders get brought out one or two at a time. My usual standby is the fried bologna sandwich. It’s fried bologna, cheese, mayonnaise, and maybe lettuce and tomato on sourdough bread. It’s delicious and what I always get. It never fails me. I also typically will get an order of sweet potato fries, even though they are pretty expensive. I mean, they’re only $ 3, but… It’s $ 3 for obviously somebody’s little handful of fries thrown in a basket. This time around, I ordered the crawfish étouffée… And holy moly. It’s one of those dishes that you’ll find yourself subconsciously moaning after every spoonful. You take a bite, lick the spoon clean, and moan. I’m really not ashamed. You get a huge plate of it filled with big chunks of crawfish in a smooth silky sauce… You can pick it mild, medium, or spicy, and I went with medium for my first time. It’s a great balance of flavor and spice. There is an awkward round lump of rice in the middle, which is the traditional way to do it, but I really want to try it over fettuccini. Maybe that’s the white trash Ozarkian in me. The more carbs the better. Big Easy is good. The ordering process is awkward, since there is always a line, and the menus are stacked up next to the register. Moving the menus by the door would help considerably.

I come here every time I’m in town and I am from Louisiana. Best fish sandwich ever. I’ll be back. Great service and love the new place.

Stopped in for lunch on my way to Willow Springs, Mo. and I’m so glad I did. Food and service were great. Can’t wait to go there again. I wish I lived closer, because I would definitely eat there often. Strongly recommend for Cajun food lovers. !!!

Had our first dinner at their new location just east of 65. The food is still amazing. Had fried oysters for first time. They were great… authentic. I lived in Louisiana for over ten years, so I know real bayou cooking. Our server Bay was one of the best we’ve had in all of Springfield.

Authentic New Orleans flavors! My favorite thing is the catfish dinner or the catfish po boy. They have great tartar sauce too! The sweet potato fries that come with the cat fish dinner are excellent and are dusted with cinnamon and sugar. The hush puppies(which I usually don’t care for) are flavorful and delicious as well. The jambalaya is also great and if you ask for it spicy they actually make it the way you want it. The new location is bigger and better and the staff is very friendly and attentive. The price is right for the portions too. A great place all around!

Pretty good Cajun. The new pic is much bigger, definitely a good decision there. Thee is a bar in the back now, will be back to check that out on another day. I recommend the jambalaya, medium heat.

I’ve been coming here for years. Now, they’re in their new location and it’s fabulous. They have a lot more space which makes it more comfortable to dine in. In the back is a bar serving beer and wine. There is a room for private parties. They have a small flat screen tv if you want to watch the latest game. The food is great. My favorite is the roast beef po’boy. It’s wonderfully drippy and yummy. The chips are handmade. I often substitute sweet potato fries because I love them. The red beans are creamy. I get it without rice. Just bring me a bowl of red beans and bread. Oh, the bread! It is just lagniappe! A little extra that you wouldn’t expect. I don’t know where they get their bread, but it is heaven. I love the gumbo. Ask for extra file to make it thicker and more like the kind you get in New Orleans. When I’m dieting :(, I order their salad with chicken. The greens are fresh, but I love the chicken. I think they sautee it in butter before they put it on the salad. I guess that kind of negates the whole point of a salad, but it sure is tasty on the fresh greens. I love the Big Easy Grill.

Stopped in to check out the new location and get our fix for southern seafood sated. The new place has loads more seating and a beefed up wait staff so good marks there. I ordered the crawfish étouffée and extra bread of course. Both were exactly how I like them. Lots of flavor in the sauce, plenty of mud bugs, and that flaky chewy bread to sop with. Puts a smile on my face every time. The lady really enjoyed her Shrimp Po-Boy as well. Prices are excellent and now so is the table side service. Yeah I’m a fan.

This is hands down my favorite restaurant in Springfield! What’s not to love?! Great new location, great service and cajun food that tastes like Louisiana. My favorites are the crawfish Etoufee and shrimp po-boy. All meals are cooked to order.

This place is not the Quarter but it is a real close substitue. Over the years I have tried everything on the menu. The Po’boys are great the roast beef is amazing! The pork tenderloin is hand breaded fresh just before they cook it definitely not processed frozen out of the back of a truck. They get the olive relish perfect on the Muffeleta I like it better than Central Grocer. They are in a new location and Unilocal created a new page so my old review is gone. If you like the New Orleans style food this place is it around here.

We were very much looking to some Cajun food for lunch and what a big disappointment it was. Crawfish Étouffée has very little to do with the real dish — it’s just a bowl of tomato sauce with cream and few crawfish tails. Gumbo was a little better but still very far from original. Too bad…

First time eating there today. My husband had raved about this place at the old location. Ordered the shrimp po’boy and it was delicious! The bread it came on was amazing and I loved the sauce! Everyone was super nice, and even though it was busy we got our food quickly. Would recommend highly.
