I went to Bombay Buffet for the first time tonight, and I was quite pleased. Bombay Buffet is a very small grandmother-owned Indian restaurant located in Brookfield Plaza, Springfield. It offers an all-vegetarian buffet for ONLY $ 6.95! The owner is the most friendly Indian grand-mother whose cute grand-daughter helps out frequently. The owner made us bread to accompany our meal. How nice of her. There are plenty of different carry-out boxes to take the food home, which is convenient.(I just loved the Chana Masala(had a kick) and Paneer dishes, so I took them home for later.) As for ambience, there isn’t any. If I want ambience, I’ll go to a lounge restaurant(a bad combination, in my opinion). Overall, Bombay Buffet is a deliciously cheap eatery. Decent all-you-can-eat vegetarian food for a great price? I have no complaints, except for the hours. My boyfriend and I will return soon! Note: Bombay Buffet is closed on Mondays. Please call them for hours, as they can be inconveniently unpredictable(hence three stars).

This buffet has perhaps the best food of any Indian restaurant I’ve had the pleasure of dining in. Unfortunately the ambiance is perhaps the worst of any restaurant, ever.(If I took ambiance into consideration, I might have to knock it down to three stars.) The buffet has a consistent selection and almost everything is great. Bread availability is hit or miss, but always good if you get it. If you are lucky they will bring some fresh bread out while you are there. I wish I knew the names of the dishes, but I don’t. I have heard the the cook is a vegetarian, but the two chicken dishes just melt in your mouth. Okra — great! Basmati rice — yum. Cheesy tofu dish — great. There is one dish that always feels like it has sand in it, so I never get that any more. Well, for $ 5.95 it’s unbeatable. Unfortunately, as of late, the hours of operation have become unreliable. The last three or four times I visited, they were closed with no notice. *********Update************ Unfortunately, Bombay Buffet is no more. The owner moved to Seattle. In its place is an Kabob/Indian combined sort of buffet, named Agra, I think. I haven’t tried it yet.
