The address on Unilocal for C Johnson Tailoring is correct(21st ave), google maps will lead you astray! Her shop is in a big office building and she doesn’t have a sign out front so just go to suite 202 and you will find a sign on the door. Her business hours are from noon to 6pm. I brought in a pair of jeans to get patched and some workout pants to get hemmed and Cheryl had them finished in just a couple days. It was $ 25 and I was really impressed with how everything turned out. Cheryl was very friendly and the whole process was so easy and hassle-free. Next time I need to get something altered I will definitely come back to C Johnson Tailoring.

Just went in again this past week to get another pair of jeans hemmed by Cheryl. Here’s the DL: She moved a few months ago, and I tried updating the listing on here but so far the info hasn’t been updated yet. And for some reason, the one review that refers to this move is being filtered out right now. So, she’s now in the back of Flavour Clothing on Demonbreun right off 40, which is a pretty easy spot to get to. You can park at the meters in front of the store, browse the pretty clothes while you wait, and she’s expanded her hours also(W-F 11 – 7, some Saturdays). So while she was out of town for a few weeks in the fall, I went to West End Alterations, and I have to say: I really do think Cheryl is worth the extra $ 6. The woman at West End did a decent job, but on the gray jeans I got done, I can see the darts at the top of the original hem, whereas the jeans Cheryl has done for me are flawless a year later. And one of the pairs from West End, the hem started to come out on, so this time when I had another pair that needed hemming, I didn’t blanch for a second at the extra cost, even when I called and found the number was disconnected(Cheryl’s having trouble getting the phone company to change it). I persisted and located a facebook page with her new info and made my way over. This time, I got just a regular hem done, since I’d bought some used Joe’s that were already fraying at the bottoms. The cost for that was $ 15. Picked up the hemmed jeans two days later and they looked brand new. Cheryl was also kind enough to look at a top I’d bought off ebay(to replace one of my fave Anthro tops I accidentally shrank) that had a tiny hole that the seller had patched. I asked if she thought it needed to be resewn or if it should hold up when washing, and she didn’t try to make any extra money, but answered honestly that she thought the person had done a good job but that if it came apart later that she did little repair jobs like that all the time and they were quite easy. Have to add a star for another excellent experience with this lovely woman.

Every time is a pleasure. Cheryl makes you feel so welcome and every piece of clothing I’ve had tailored has been flawless. She did move though: she’s now in the back of Flavour clothing on Demonbreun street and I believe her hours are 1 – 7

Cheryl Johnson is a really great tailor on Music Row. Hesitant to visit, because you think you’ll pay a Music Row price? Nope! I paid more for fewer articles of clothing to be hemmed in Green Hills(at an undisclosed OTHER alterations place.). Cheryl Johnson is often sought out to tailor outfits for awards shows, but there is no shame in taking in a pair of jeans to be altered or a dress with a hole in it to be stitched up.

Cheryl(the«C» in the business name, to point out the obvious) ROCKS! She takes a short girl like me and makes me look like I’m 6 feet tall! OK, so I’m exaggerating a little, but she will put the original hem back in my jeans so they don’t look«hemmed». And always leaves them a bit on the longer side to make me look not so vertically challenged! She is a miracle worker when it comes to altering ANYTHING. And not terribly expensive either! I have never had her custom make anything, but I do know she works for several celebrities… namely, Dolly Parton! Yes, rumor has it she custom makes some of her outfits. Now, if the girl can sew for Dolly, then she can sew for me! She gets all 5 stars, although it is sometimes difficult to get in to see her. She works with so many stars, she is always working around tour schedules and photo shoots, but I tell you the wait is worth it. Great personality too, she is always happy to see you(or at least puts on a good act!). If you are not in a HUGE hurry(as in, need the next day), then I highly recommend you go see Cheryl.
