Had a really hard time deciding what to get. Food was delicious! Thunder thighs were super spicy but flavorful. Frog legs were available when we visited and they were perfectly cooked and not gamey at all. Will be back!

First time here. Came with my family and thoroughly enjoyed the experience. Food is outstanding and as Cajun as you can get in hard core New England. Chief Wayne is a master. Will be back here again and again!

Outstanding! On the way to boston and we discovered this wonderful little restaurant. We ordered the Chicken ya ya, gumbo and crab cakes. omg, the crab cakes and the chicken ya ya were the best that we have ever had. crab cakes were moist and flavorful. The accompanying sauce was the perfect partner to the crab. chicken ya ya was a perfect marriage between chicken breast(moist and tender, paired with a savory sausage and perfect vegetables. This is a must go to restaurant.

Just try it. If you like Cajun food, if you don’t know what it is, or if you don’t like Cajun food, get yourself in here and try something. You won’t regret it. The staff is friendly and the décor is fine, but you’re here to eat. Try the red beans, the jambalaya, or anything for that matter.

The staff was very friendly and the food was excellent. The Thunder Thighs appetizer was my favorite. I wasn’t expecting it to be boneless, but the seasoning and sauce were on point. I got the house jambalaya for my entrée and that was also very good.

This place is beyond amazing. The crab cakes were the best I’ve ever had even better than in New Orleans!!! The jumbalaya was outrageously amazing!

My first time visiting this area and this amazing little gem of a restaurant. I wanted something delicious but simple and not too heavy. So I went with a bowl of gumbo, house salad and corn bread. Yum! While I struggled a little through the gumbo because it was really salty, the sweet corn bread helped. Overall, I enjoyed my visit. Will return if I’m back anytime soon. Thank you to the attentive waitress who was so good with handling the entire dining area. You rock!

Was in town on business, and was looking for somewhere casual and quick. Ironically it was here on Fat Tuesday. Anyways this place was amazing!!! The staff was great(especially Tracey), they all were so welcoming and energetic! My meal was cooked and seasoned perfectly! If I’m ever within 1.5hr of the place I will be back!

The staff, BYOB, the vibe, which is lively, all make the atmosphere at Big Mamou make it one of my favorite places. Decidedly, for me, the 5 stars is about the food. Everything is flavorful, delicious and on point every time. Thunder thighs would be a part of my death row meal. The cajun pasta and house jambalaya are a couple of my go-to entrees. Whenever I leave, I can’t wait to go back.

My parents have been coming here for 20 years. I’ve been a few times and love it. Not only is the food excellent, the staff — and Chef Wayne — are so warm and fun.

This place is hopping, but the food is OUTSTANDING. We had quite a wait. I got biscuits and gravy. They were absolutely fantastic. You can’t get this done right many places around here.

We are from LA and this is the best Cajun food we’ve ever had. Just passing through Springfield and it’s worth writing about!

I drove an hour to this joint with friendly service and BYOB. Food was plenty full and the atmosphere fun and cozy. I had the Sausage’n’Chicken YaYa! and it was delicious! Chicken was cooked perfectly and the homemade sausage had a nice kick. Get there early because there is a big following and the table fill up quick! Highly recommend this place!

What a great little find! We went here for something different. The $ 8 gumbo and salad combo was outstanding value! Then we had the blackened catfish between two is us, we couldn’t finish it! The blackened catfish was possibly the BEST fish I have ever had. To top it all off, the chef was a real character and was interacting with us from the other side of the room. A big personality making seriously great food. We have arranged to be there on Sunday for the Sunday brunch specials!

For me, there are 5 star places, and then there are the 5 star places that are so unbelievably delicious they make a short list of my all time favorite meals. Chef Wayne’s is on that short list. I got a «cup a gumbo» and Jambalaya. Amazing. Seriously amazing. I came with a group of 7, and everyone was blown away by their orders. would give 6 out of 5 stars if I could. One of the best meals I’ve had anywhere.

The food is unbelievable, there is no doubt about it. Huge plates, full of flavor, and satisfying with every bite. The service, however, was less than impressive. Took 15 minutes for the waitress to take our order, and even longer to get boxes/the check at the end of the night. There were two waitresses working, as that it’s not a very big restaurant, but they seemed to pay more Attention to their conversation with eachother than their customers. The people sitting next to us were also expressing disappointment in the waitstaff. Up the customer service game, and this place will be 5 stars in no time!

You wouldn’t think when you pull up to this place that the food is going to be spectacular but you’ll be pleasantly surprised! Small dining room where you seat yourself, bright colorful décor and fun music make for a nice evening out. Went to dinner with my girlfriends on a Wednesday night and by the end, the place was packed and people were waiting for our table! Lisette and I shared a calamari special – perfectly cooked, great flavor. I had jambalaya — nice portion, slightly spicy seasoning and piping hot! Lisette had the steak tips with rice and cornbread and Sharon had the pulled pork– I tasted both dishes and really enjoyed them! Give it a try!

If you know me, you know I love a good byob. The best kind have really high quality food and low or no corkage fees, and cool atmosphere. Big Mamou hits all of those requirements! It’s relatively small, with fun décor reminiscent of New Orleans. The staff is friendly and efficient, and the food options are all great; you really can’t go wrong. When they say a dish is spicy it actually is, and it’s that wonderful delicious hotness that makes you want more. My s/o and I have been here a few times over the years(mostly before I was Unilocaling), and it was his choice for his recent birthday. I am so glad he thought of this! It was an incredible meal once again– I had the House Jumbalaya, he had the Chicken Ya Ya, and we shared the«Thunder Thighs Jerked» as an appetizer. Whatever sauce they use on the thunder things(they call it spicy mayo but it’s a bit thinner than most mayos, and more like a sauce that’s drizzled), it is amazing. I want to put that sauce on everything. They also have a house hot sauce that’s really different and also good. You can purchase a bottle for $ 10 if you’d like to bring some creole flavor home. And, it’s wonderful that it’s a BYOB, and has no corkage fee. Stop in to Chef Wayne’s Big Mamou!
