Clarion Inn & Suites

We actually got this hotel through a special deal via Hotwire. We didn’t know what hotel we would get until after purchasing the packaging but it paid off well. The hotel was just renovated and it was very nice and clean. The beds were comfortable and they actually give you a free real hot breakfast — not the continental stuff that I personally don’t care for. The staff was very friendly and accommodating. We would stay here again!

We only had to stay one night and our experience was good. The front desk employees were VERY friendly and efficient. The hallway and stair way carpets needed a good vacuuming. The pool is very good sized and clean! The whirlpool was very relaxing (perfect temp, perfect amount of by bubbles, etc.). The beds and pillows were VERY comfortable. The bathrooms were very large. The rooms are very spacious. Here were my reasons for not giving anymore stars than I did: their washer and dryer wasn’t working and we had been at baseball tournaments all day with filthy uniforms to wash. We were informed that we were welcome to use the laundry at Quality Inn (next door), though because they owned both properties. What we didn’t realize is that there was only one washer/​dryer combo and we had quite the line. We finally finished our laundry about 12:30 AM. & that was with half dried pants and hanging up the boys’ shirts. My whole family was disappointed in the continental breakfast. We were looking forward to pancakes and the pancake maker wasn’t working. The scrambled eggs had no taste. The sausage was ok. The employees knew they had a packed house and was in no hurry to refill breakfast items. The lady that was refilling was NOT friendly at all. That was the only employee I encountered that wasn’t professional enough for my liking. The best part of breakfast was the fresh fruit and yogurt. I do have to say that they currently switched from Comfort Inn to Clarion and I’m sure they are working the kinks out. So, I would stay here again.

I was very impressed with this property in all phases: the room, the customer service from the staff, the breakfast and convenience from E. Battlefield to 65. This was one of those experiences that exceeded my expectations.
In starting with the room, you’ll notice that it does not look cheap by any means. My rate was pretty low ($ 65), yet I would expect paying between $ 129-​$ 149 a night by the way that it looked. The room contained all of the essentials with exception to a fridge or microwave, which was okay considering that you could access a microwave in the lobby. The property itself does have an elevator with access to two floors, so don’t worry about lugging your bags up 4 – 5 flights of steps.
Breakfast in the morning is of good value. You’ll get your eggs, waffles, biscuits, fruit and yogurt. This isn’t one of those places where they advertise breakfast and all that you’ll get is a continental breakfast of bagels, muffins and dry cereal. The breakfast here is very sufficient, and appreciated. The area is located on the right side of the lobby and adjacent to the hallway toward the rooms. There is also a Windows PC with printer that serves as a business center, and I do believe that there is a small gym (I didn’t use it on this visit) and laundry room center. The hotel does have free WiFi access as well.
The staff? Very, very good. Accommodating from start to finish. I was very impressed with the fact that they advised me on road access to alternative roads during a snowstorm, which helped out big time. I encountered four staff members that were on the same page in dealing with my requests as well as guest inquiries. This makes a huge difference for travelers, such as myself, staying within Springfield for just the day and not certain of where to go and how to get there. The staff members on this trip certainly made a difference. For a 2 or 3 star rated motel/​hotel, the staff gives 5 star service.

My stay there was wonderful. Friendly staff that go above and beyond to help you. The complementary appetizers are an added plus. Can’t say enough about the good experience I had there.
