Desi Wok is gone! I touched call button on Zabihah App for Desi Wok & announcement said The number is not in service. I drove to this place & it’s dark @ all signs & bright lights are gone. This place & owner was too good to last. Earlier in the year when it opened I was not sure it would run based on just the looks as the food was not American-Chinese most of us Desi here prefer. Owner made a big blunder on just Offering Indo-Paak style Chinese. Did he do market research ? I had feelings it would not catch on but really I could not say it to his face. He always was pleasant & welcoming. All I could hope that he change the menu to add lot more dishes including real Chinese people like to eat here. I’m very sorry for his business loss. So long my friend. Contact:

I stopped by the other day to pick up take out food. The place is clean and spacious, compared to most«indian/pakistani» asian fusion joints in the area. However the food is not really worth it. It tastes just like the chinese that my wife can cook at home, if I am going to eat out I am looking for that«professional» restaurant taste/flavor. The chicken corn soup reminded me of the soup back in Pakistan but that was it. To add some credibility to my review, I am a BIG fan of asian-indian fusion food and have tried the best asian-indian fusion restaurants in NYC, San Fran and in Toronto and I’ve probably rate this one on the lower end of the scale.

went here the other day for lunch, wasnt really sure what to expect. when i walked in i was greeted by a waitress and a man who appeared to be the cook but given his hospitable demeanor i assumed he was also the owner. the place was mostly empty so they told me i could sit wherever i liked. i had to wait a little while for my date to show up so the cook/owner offered me their wifi password while i waited. when my lady friend arrived he came back over and gave us a little bit of history about the restaurant and cuisine and recommended a couple of dishes to try. the food was interesting. good, but a little strange. but what do you expect from a pakistani-chinese place. we ordered the desii special soup, the beef manchurian, the chicken chili dry, and the fried rice. like i said they were all good but the more noteworthy things were the soup and the fried rice. the soup kinda tasted like liquid cheeseburger. weird but not bad. the fried rice was really killer though just straight up good. the two things that really made this place a 5 is the uniqueness of the cuisine, and the outstanding service/hospitality. ive never been to anyplace like it before.

Went there today for lunch and really enjoyed their food. Didn’t have all the sauce and gunk that I don’t like with Chinese food, yet had great unique taste. The owner personally checked on how my experience was which I appreciated! Definitely glad I gave them a shot and I will go back soon.

Fantastic experience here. Joined a friend for dinner here tonight to take advantage of a Specialicious deal he’d picked up. Oh and how glad I am that I did. In a very out of the way spot, I doubt I would have ever popped in here and I would have missed out on some tasty eats and a pleasant unexpected learning experience. Owner Sair Ali greeted us as soon as we were seated and gave us a very interesting background of Pakistani/Chinese cuisine and how it had historically come about. He explained the dishes we were interested in letting us know the combinations of ingredients, seasonings and spiciness — as well as he could adjust the heat if we wanted things a bit more spicy. It was a wonderful personal touch that I think often makes all the difference in the success of a new business. The food was excellent but by far my favorite dish was the Desii Special Soup — an intriguing blend of chicken, shrimp, green onions and spices in a tomato broth. The perfect thing for a cold day — a touch of sweetness and a sneaking spicy kick. I could die happy with a big bowl. Portions are very generous and very affordable. Our Chicken Masala Rice and Sizzling Chicken Manchurian were more than enough for the two of us — with healthy portions packed up for the next day. The Masala fried rice made with basmati instead of the more traditional grains was wonderful and vinegar in the tomato-based sauce gave the Manchurian Chicken a surprising but pleasant sweetness that was delicious over the white rice. I pass by this shopping center every day on the beltway without ever knowing what wonders lurked within. Somehow I don’t think tonight was my last visit.

Good Indian-Chinese fusion restaurant, in an unfortunately random location. Came last week with a group of friends, and we split a couple of dishes. — Chicken drumstick(?) was more like a chicken meatball, but we all enjoyed it. — Desii special soup was good, but not great(a little sweet) + Chicken corn soup was great, especially when doctored with the condiments on the table. — Chicken with garlic sauce was okay, not great — Sizzling beef manchurian was also just okay. + General Tso’s was really good, not sickly sweet like at other places + Chicken masala chow mein was one of the favorites of the table The owner came out a few times to talk to us, and was very friendly. Overall service was good. The place is spacious and fresh, definitely doesn’t look like a dingy Indian or Chinese restaurant. Best part — it’s super cheap! Even dinner dishes are under $ 10. Of course, the portion sizes are smaller too but not too small. Overall, it’s a good effort and I hope to see Desii Work thrive.

I don’t usually post internet reviews, this is actually my first Unilocal review. Anyway met a group here for lunch through an internet local food website, donrockwell… Owner Sair Ali was extremely helpful and gracious and chose some wonderful dishes for our table. We started with two soups, 19B which tasted to me like chicken fried rice in soup form and the desii special. both were really good, i especially liked the desii special. Next we had the Chicken Manchurian which came sizzling(i added photo of it) with the masala fried rice i believe. Chicken was really good and flavorful. Overall it was a great meal and I’ll be returning. I wanted to post the review to help spread the word about the restaurant. Its a great meal and we need to support good food in the DMV!
