Unless you like poor service and substandard personality when you receive it, then come here. This place was suggested by some people we do business with at a local company to my colleague and I, so we came for the cold beer and some apps. Sat down, and the 6 employees in the place never bothered to offer us a drink or menu. I finally had to waive down someone and when the gal came over she looked like she just smoked a joint and took our order. After the first, let me say that again, after the first pitcher, I had to literally wave the pitcher back and forth to get anyone’s attention. #nevercomehereagain

Yes, Ebbet’s is a good bar. It’s a local standby, and always full of people either watching a sporting event, waiting for a sporting event, coming back from a baseball game at Hammons field… It’s always hustling and bustling with people and their sports. They’ve got beer, they’ve got shots… I don’t really feel like I need to talk about that part. Just like any other bar, the experience is as fun as the company you’re with. So, this review for Ebbet’s, I’m going to focus on their food. And that’s why the three stars. I ordered a French dip, and the menu says shaved roast beef. So, I expect a sandwich with shaved roast beef. What I got was a sandwich with roast beef cut at about a three. Nothing is more attractive than trying to gnaw my way through my sandwich with a big clump of fat hanging out of my mouth. No thank you. If you’re going to say shaved roast beef, then shave it. Or, at the very least, make it to where people can eat it without having to chew like some sort of caveman. The au jus on the side is great, but mine was served in a little plastic portion cup with a broken lid. This makes it really awkward when you’re trying to pick up the cup to move it and then you get beef juice all over your hands. I ordered a side of chips, which Ebbets does very very well – their homemade chips are fantastic. I also have to give a shout out to the horseradish that they serve on the side of my French dip. You can tell that it’s made in house and has just enough bite to really round out my plate. So, long story short, don’t go for the French dip. Go for the patio and baseball games and friendship.

Three stars suits this place well. I had their bacon cheeseburger which was good. Burger tasted fresh, cheese and bacon was cooked well and the bun was toasted perfectly. Not the cleanest place but a perfect little hangout for college kids.

Reminds me of my frat house without the crazies. Cool local place that I’ll definitely be back to.

Food is pretty good here. Our group had a pizza, various apperizers, burgers, French dip, and the club. The two French dips were very inconsistent in the amount of meat and it was very salty. All other food was very good with great portion sizes. However, Bathroom sanitation was extremely poor and filthy. We all commented we hoped the kitchen wasn’t in that condition. Will return for a second visit, but must see an improvement in the bathrooms. We would’ve rated higher but this was a factor we believes ties to attention to detail.

Ebbetts is good honest wholesome meals made the traditional way. My steak was melt in your mouth great. The Caesar salad was awesome. A great converted house atmosphere with background music, traditional furniture and a great bar. Good selection of craft beers. Enjoyed my Mothers Hope you love it also

So, you don’t come to Ebbets Field for the food. I mean, it’s edible and not tasteless. But you come for the cheap beers and to watch a game. It’s a small and cozy space with several tvs inside a converted house and when it’s not raining– you can sit outside, etc. It’s a cool place and I love love love the Mother’s Field(some type of coffee stout beer and some 3 blind mice) that happens to be only served in Springfield. Things not to do: Loaded fries(I don’t know if anything was on them and they were expensive) Things to do: Beer Happy Hour The burgers are decent but again nothing spectacular.

A little out of the way, unless you’re going to a Cards game. Great bar. Typical bar food. Nothing special here, just a nice, friendly alternative to the noise of downtown.

My bf and I have been here a couple times and although it’s typical bar food, we love the quaint atmosphere and you can always catch a game on. The fish and chips are my favorite and the wings!

We try to go here at least once every time we are in town. Usually get one of their burgers. This time I got The Catcher-philly cheesesteak sub. it was very good, homemade chips are great. Staff is always very friendly, and very good. I love the sports atmosphere, My only change would be more Dodgers, less Cardinals. HaHa

I love love love the burgers here. I’ve never ordered anything I didn’t like. It’s a VERY casual place and a perfect spot for dinner before catching a Cardinals game. Service could be a little better, but I tend to be picky about that.

I really love Ebbets Field! It’s a chill spot for American style food and beer! They have a great patio in the back with a covered bar and it’s perfect in the summer evenings! They have a small but good veer selection. The menu is mostly sandwhichs/burgers and what you would consider bar food! I haven’t had anything I didn’t like.

Terrible and trashy,…food is below average, service is slow and rude, and believe they deserve more,…everything is overpriced,…no military or student discounts! Plenty of better places in Springfield!

Great local place. I’ve stopped there twice during my travels to Springfield and have thoroughly enjoyed both visits. Pizza is excellent and beer is COLD. Welcoming, casual atmosphere. Great place to unwind. Highly recommend.

Ordered t ravs, buffalo chicken sandwich and salad, got it right, limited on the tvs, good atmosphere, faces on servers when delivered food was like«really well ok here’s what you ordered», attractive staff, decent food cool wall memorabilia, not really enough tvs to call it a sports bar asked but they didn’t have nhl package

Okay a week ago I had a bad experience with a blonde bartender and wrote a bad review of the place. Just don’t go there for lunch! Tonight my twin sister talked me into going there again for a pizza and a beer! What a BLAST we had and the pizza was the best I have EVER had! Amazing. We sat outside which is the coolest place to be in Ebbets and our bartender truly made our night amazing! He was fun, personable and professional all the while making our delicious dining experience even better. His name is Chris and everyone should belly up to the bar and spend some time with this guy! Due to my last experience I wasn’t going back but because of Chris I will be there often with friends and family! THANKYOUCHRIS! YOURAWESOME!

Our waitress kayla was excellent and as a college student their prices are great and their food is the bomb. You’ll love it and your wallet will too. Free refills on fountain drinks and virgin drinks!

Now that the World Series is over, I feel like this is safe to say: I don’t love watching sports. I just don’t really care and it’s not my thing. Subsequently, sports bars are also really not my thing(please, can we put HGTV on JUSTONE channel?!), but for the sake of this review… yayyyyyy, sportz. Go Chiefs. Play bawl. Ebbets Field is one such sports bar, but it is more bearable than others in that it’s in a unique Craftsman style house on one of Springfield’s best streets, Walnut, and it’s sort of got history on its side. If someone like me sits down at Ebbets and instantly goes cross-eyed trying to follow the football game on one of the flat screens, they can instead divert their attention to politely observing the historic team sports décor on the wall. Woo. I mean, it could be worse. The menu is where I have become a little lost both times I’ve visited here. Literally nearly all of its content(including menu items) resound with an intensely sarcastic«Our food and service REALLY sucks! Wink wink!» sense of humor, but what confuses me is that the food and service here is not fantastic enough to justify the in-your-face sarcasm. Cue me explaining the food and service. The first time I came, I remember being really impressed with my bacon cheeseburger. It was perfectly cooked(medium rare, thank you), the bacon was crispy, the veggies were fresh, and I left happy. This time, I ordered the same thing and was a bit less impressed, as my burger patty got dry quickly — it just didn’t have the same effect as the first time, although the veggies and bacon were again on point. However, I don’t think there’s been enough enthusiasm about the fries on Unilocal — they’re very clearly home made and very, very tasty. Home made is good. Crinkle cut is yuck. Thus, Ebbets has great fries. Overall I’d give the food a four despite being what I can only collectively identify as «bar food.» The service kind of bummed me out this time around. Our waitress was neutral in company and let our drinks go unfilled to the point of one of us flagging down another waitress even though the restaurant wasn’t anywhere near packed, but what really made me a little miffed was the bartender dropping the F-bomb left and right as he talked animatedly with customers about the game a few tables down. I know the young teenager we were with is no stranger to the tongue of sailors, but I thought the lack of awareness on the bartender’s part was a little tactless and left a not-so-good impression, sports bar be damned — er, darned, sorry. Ebbets is a fine place to go out, but admittedly, I could seek a more satisfying burger or even similar fare(St. Michael’s, for one) while up-trading the service and excessively loud, boisterious clientele.

I asked my cousin if there’s anywhere to eat around Hammons Field that was different. So after we watched my cousin pitch for MSU. My wife and I went to Ebbets Field to eat. I had Da Babe. A nice burger with ham on top. Great fries. I will be back.
