I have never had a better experience at a mechanic in my life. I was driving south on 95 on my way home for a funeral and hit a piece of tire in the road it took my front license plate off and caused my engine splash guard to start dragging under my car. At 09:30 in the morning I tried two other shops who said it would be over an hour and cost north of $ 50 to just take off the one screw on the cover. I called Exline and they said they had a jack open and to bring it in. I was driving away back to support my family in under 5 minutes. I have told this story at least 10 times since it happened yesterday and I am still speechless at the kindness and professionalism at Exline. Thank you.

Bad place. Do not go here for any BIG automotive repair you may think you need. They will add on stuff you think you should need when you really don’t. This is one of those automotive shop that will try to get more money on everything they see they could get. For example, changing your catalytic converter 02 sensor will REQUIRED their unecessary oil change of $ 50 or they won’t do it. Next, they charged $$$ for the sensor themselves when you can get them online or anywhere else for way cheaper, on my car anyways. Overall not a satisfactory experience. Look elsewhere.

I upgraded my suspension on my Audi A4 to a sport suspension made by an aftermarket company that was very reputable for Audi cars. When I installed it, I took it to a personal mechanic friend of mine who wasn’t able to do the alignment he told me not to worry about it and that it would be no big deal. Two months later I noticed that three of my tires had lost their tread completely. I took my car to just tires in Fairfax and they changed all four of my tires and told me that my alignment was really bad and that was the cause of my tire wear. They told me because I had an aftermarket suspension They were not able to do an alignment for me due to liability issues. I took my car to three other tire shops to see if I can get an alignment and they all said the same thing so I was beginning to think and believe what they were saying that my suspension was not made for this car and I have to go back to the stock suspension. I called one of my friends who is an expert with this kind of stuff and he referred me to Exline automotive.
When I took my car there I told them exactly what happened and what was the outcome of my last three visits to the mechanic shops and they told me not to worry that they can get it up there on the rack and they’ll take care of it as soon as possible. I took my car there the next morning dropped it off at 8:30 AM and due to a hectic schedule that day I was in desperate need of my car being done as soon as possible. They called me a mere two hours later and told me that my car had been finished and there were no problems and everything was good to go. I showed up to pick up my car I saw the report my alignment was absolutely perfect and my car drives amazing now. I could deathly tell the difference in the drive and I am forever grateful for Exline automotive for giving me such a hassle free stress-​free experience. I would definitely take my car back there for any other problems for sure and I recommend this garage anyone with aftermarket issues or general car issues.

Just spotted this place a week ago and I’m kicking myself that I didn’t find it sooner. What more can you ask for from an auto shop; quality work, honesty, fair quotes, and outstanding customer service. I think I found my new spot for my jeeping needs!

Wouldn’t use this place again!!! Paid a lot of money and the car broke down two weeks later!!! Then they said it was a new problem and we would have to pay more money!!! The owner is very rude!!!

We have been using Exline for years to maintain our company vehicles. Never had to bring one back for the same problem. Fast, friendly and honest.

I’m not sure there’s much to add to the already stellar reviews, but I’ll say that this is the only place I let service my Corolla. They are always honest about what work is needed, and they don’t try to sell you anything unnecessary. Instead of charging me for work that they could have done they have told me when parts are under warranty by Toyota and to see the dealer instead for a free fix. George and Liz are always super friendly. The sitting area is comfortable and clean. As far as comments about price go, I just had my brake pads done for about $ 80 less than what the mechanic up the road from me in Alexandria quoted. When my rotors needed replacing they charged HALF of what another mechanic in Arlington wanted saving me several hundred dollars. If you live within the beltway it’s worth the trip out there!

This place has easily provided the best service that I’ve ever gotten from an auto shop. First thing I noticed is that when I called in to make an appointment, Liz who works the phone and front desk, was super friendly. I would later find out she’s not just a desk person. She’s the owner’s wife and she knows her cars too so you can count on someone really listening to you when you tell them you problem.
After getting there, the first thing the owner (George) did was take me back into the garage where my car was already on a lift, showed me exactly what the problem with my car was, and told me in detail how he planned to fix it and how much he thought it’d cost. The previous owner of my car hadn’t installed the exhaust properly. George did a great job of essentially redoing it and making it rock solid. It’s things like this that give you confidence that they know what they’re doing and actually want you to be happy when you leave.
They took my appointment kind of last minute (called in the morning, got an appointment for that afternoon) so I just waited it out after I got there. There’s a nice leather sofa, DirecTV, free wi-​fi, and a water cooler so waiting wasn’t a big deal. Liz was really nice and accommodating and made sure I had the wi-​fi password and told me I could feel free to change the tv channel to whatever I wanted. I was there for a couple hours, but she made sure to check on me and see that I was comfortable.
When my car was done, George came back out, brought me back to the garage and showed me the work he did. He detailed really clearly everything he had done and why he did it. He even fielded a random question I had about jacking my car up for repairs at home.
Lastly, Liz checked me out, and went through each line on my receipt and made sure I was clear on all the charges. I paid, and left feeling satisfied.
Long story short, if you want great service from really nice people, DEFINITELY come here. I know I’ll be going back.

I always get good service here. I get my oil changes on my new car to avoid being gouged at the dealership and know it will be done to manufacturer specs. They’ve also helped me find an exhaust leak in a set of aftermarket headers. The prices are pretty reasonable and they’ve always been friendly offering coffee and a nice waiting area.

First of all, I will admit that they probably are not the cheapest in the area. However, if you’re willing to pay a little more for good work, I recommend them. We have taken both of our cars here for repairs (not extensive). When you have a problem, they take the car out, try to replicate the problem, and then fix it. When you talk to them, they explain exactly what they did. They are much better at communicating with me than any other mechanic I have used. (Granted, I am not a car person.) So far, we have not had any trouble with their work and will continue to use them.

They were honest and told me what I had to do and what I could skip. Best mechanic I have found in the area.

why is it so hard to find a good mechanic?
had i written my review after my first 2 experiences, exline would have gotten a 3.5 or maybe a 4 star rating, but after my last experience (as well as other coworkers experiences), i’m have to knock it down to 2 stars.
this shop is close enough to my work that i can walk to it, which is convenient to say the least. upon recommendation from a coworker, i had some work needed to be done, nothing major, and they completed the work in a timely manner with a fair rate, but the last time i had a little problem. I woke up to a flat tire one day and had to get it replaced quick. i called up exline to see if they had or could get the tire i needed on the same day. they said yes, so i took it in, went to work and then later that afternoon called me and told me my car was ready. i picked it up and drove it back to my parking lot and noticed that the flat tire was still in the back of my car. i called them up to make sure they didn’t toss away my spare. for brevity’s sake, i eventually did get my spare, but not without a young man who came back and forth 3 separate times to make sure he had the right tire for my car. it took almost an hour to get my spare back.
i’m not sure what’s going on at exline, but it seems they need to get their staff back up to speed before their reputation begins to slip out of control.
