Someone we cherish got a grim diagnosis from the doctor. To cheer her up, I decided to mail her some pictures instead of sending flowers. She lives in another state. I went to FedEx Kinkos on Glenstone near Sunshine to print some fun family photos that include her, some kids, pets, etc. Kinkos was great. An employee who was working around 8 a.m. helped me retrieve the pictures, print them at the size I wanted, and use paper instead of heavier photo paper, like I wanted. My goal was for these to arrive the next day. Since FedEx is part of Kinkos, it worked perfectly. I didn’t have to drive to the post office. The next evening, the relative called to say thanks. She was so surprised and delighted.

Is there really any use for this place now that they are not open 24 hours? I’ve had too many issues with how this business is run. The only reason I ever put up with them is that they were open 24 hours. Now they are not. So, the problems I’ve encountered with them recently have become the final straw. Some time in May, I dropped by to make a few quick prints on my way to lunch. The guy behind the counter refused to print my images from the computer(where he could have easily selected ‘fit-to-print’), after I explicitly told him that I needed six 8.5“x11″ printouts. Even though there was no one waiting at the counter, he instead converted my images to INDIVIDUALPDF files(instead of a combined file) and told me to go back out and print them on one of the lobby machines. The task of scrolling through a thumb drive on their insanely slow control panel, and finally discovering that the machine would not fit-to-print, took half an hour. This was a job that should have taken no more than 5 minutes. The problem here is not that he didn’t roll over backwards to fulfill my request. The problem is that he set me up to waste a significant amount of time, while accomplishing nothing. Having run out of time, and having only printed one of my pages, I left fuming. I made the mistake of returning on July 8, because I thought customer service in the early mornings was better. I arrived fifteen minutes after opening time and no one was there. I sat in the car for ten minutes in the pouring rain and no one showed. When I called later to see what was going on, the person only admitted she got in late after I pressed her on why the sign on the door doesn’t say they«open at 6:30[am] today»(her words)! I have had it with this place! It’s time to invest in a small laser printer.
