Most dental cleaning Groupons are just a good way to save money. This one introduced me to a dental practice that I could see myself actually going back to. From start to finish, I was happy. When calling to schedule, Katharine(the receptionist) was very helpful and friendly. They were booked for a full month, so I went ahead and scheduled; and also asked to be on-call for any last minute cancellations. Katharine obliged, and also emailed me all the forms so I could complete them in advance. When I arrived, Katharine welcomed me with a big smile and reviewed my paperwork. Soon thereafter, Kristen(a fun, cheerful, and informative dental hygienist) took several x-rays, measured my gum attachments(a new procedure that I had never experienced before!), scaled my teeth both electrically and manually, and then polished and flossed them. I was really impressed with her thoroughness(she must have been with me for over an hour) and expertise(she commented on things that typically only a doctor would notice). Dr. Ryan’s actual exam was pretty quick(2 – 3 minutes), but I didn’t mind since Katharine spent a lot of time with me and probably didn’t «flag» anything for him to more thoroughly examine. After looking at my teeth though, Dr. Ryan did spend about 5 minutes with me to discuss my jaw, bite, and teeth in general. I should also note that he was very positive and friendly. It’s gonna sound silly, but his tall stature, jovial tone, and booming voice made me think of Santa Clause. The only criticism that I have — pull up patients’ X-rays on screen and review them with patients.(I remember the first time another dentist did this… I was very impressed. They actually took photographs, too, with a small pen; and used a software program to highlight things and make notations). It’s very captivating and educational to SEE and discuss our teeth. Perhaps Dr. Ryan’s office typically does this, but it wasn’t for my appointment. This would have moved my experience from 4 to 5 stars. Overall, a great experience though.

I’ve been going to Dr Ryan for about 10 years now. The staff has always been super professional and the actual office is so nice. The only thing I would say is a deterrant is that it’s kind of expensive. They do take insurance and your insurance company will mail your a reimbusement check. However, one time Dr Ryan wanted to do a $ 3,000 test on my jaw for TMJ, which I would have to pay for myself. I declined.

Dr. Ryan was my dentist for sooo long! He was always wonderful and had a good aesthetic sense. The only reason I finally had to switch was because his practice didn’t accept my new insurance, and with children to add to the dental costs over the years, this made a difference for us. If he ever started accepting our insurance, however, I’d be back in a heartbeat. Miss you, Dr. Ryan! :(Definitely recommend.
