I’ve been going to Legacy since before they had a store and were at the Farmer’s Market, and have always loved everything they make. I decided to have them make my wedding cakes without ever tasting their cakes because I knew the quality of their work and i was not disappointed! I highly recommend the lemon– absolutely delicious!

My favorite place to get bagels. The customer service has been great each time I have been there. I’d go here any day over Panera or Einstein’s.

Not sure why some of these peeps gave Legacy a bad review. I’ve NEVER had a bad experience there. It’s great food and great service. I’ve been there A LOT too! The cinnamon rolls are TODIEFOR! That’s my favorite thing to get, although, I’ve had the quiche, doughnuts, tea, and latte. If you want a «CHAIN» experience, then skip it. IT’s 100% authentic good, local flavor. Sorry you guys got some bad reviews. They were SOWRONG!

The small little shop offers New York style boiled bagels. It’s a fun college town bakery where everything is made fresh and they put a fun twist on classic bakery items like quiche, donuts, and bagels. Be sure to get there early for the best selection as by 9am selection was cut in half. The inner area seats less than 20 people. I don’t recommend sitting in with young children. The food was good!

This bakery is a joke. Overpriced for such small portions. You can buy the same stuff at panera and Einstein brothers. Plus Legacy’s customer service is just awful. I will definitely not be coming back here. I am all for supporting local businesses but this one does not get my support. Quite frankly I’m not even sure how they’ve stayed in business so long. They are just bad

If you look at my review of last year at this time, I thought the sun and the moon about Legacy. It does make the best bagels in town. That would be great but a bunch of incompetent fools are running the asylum these days. Over 4 weeks ago I placed an order to be picked up this morning on our way home to St. Louis. I did this because this is the only bagelry in the free world closed on Sundays. Goyem, Goyem! Well we called to verify the order from Tulsa some 3.5 hours away, and they lost the order, and could not find that we had paid for it on 11⁄23. They took our cell phone, and called us 10 minutes later and told us, their mistake so sorry all was well. That was not quite the truth. The baker’s doz. bagels was missing one,(I counted, thinking if they can lose an order, their math is not really their strong suit), and sure enough they messed that up. As for the Bobka that was supposed to be waiting for us… We had to wait 40 minutes for it to «finish» baking. They charge an extra $ 2.00 for lox spread which is just Philadelphia cheese with a bit of lox, but the container was only ½ full. They may be the best bagels in the state but they irritated a loyal customer to no end.

The bagels and schmear were very good, as were the Jewish donuts. The cold brew coffee wasn’t my favorite.

Holy. Cinnamon. Roll. You haven’t lived until you’ve tried to shove one of these bad boys down your throat for breakfast. Or lunch. Or dinner. Or dessert. Drool.

Wow. The only thing I’ve had has been a variety of doughnuts and they were AWESOME. Pour over coffee is nice, too… And it’s not served boiling like most places. Interior is quaint and charming. Would recommend!

I am sooo sad I wasn’t able to visit this establishment, so it can’t get a 5 star review. But these bagels(blueberry and a cinnamon one) that were brought still warm to me — was delicious. They weren’t even bad after a few days old. Now, are these New York bagels? NO, they are not. There is something dirty about the water in New York — so you just can’t replicate the texture. But good thing I’m a born/raised Bostonian and hate New Yorkers anyways, so Legacy is where it is at! Local ingredients, no artificial projects, owned not by a big corporation(aka Einstein), why wouldn’t give this place a try. Forget about taking that trip to New York and support your local community instead. With that said, no one can beat a New York slice of pizza!!!

Wow. When this place opened I was psyched. I went every other week to get New York style bagels. I wondered why they didn’t offer bacon but I understood and respected the«kosher» aspect. They eventually wanted to be fully kosher but at least they offered non-swine meat options. Then they started to slowly drift. No more toasting of the bagels. No more eggs. No meats. No lox. The whole idea of a New York style bagelry without bacon or ham is a hard sell in a location without a ton of kosher folks. I am from NY and so I was excited about it even with the shortcomings. Now it is a shell and Einstein Brothers offers a better service and product in virtually every respect. F-ing Einsteins. Whoever is giving a 5 star review to a place that serves a cold bagel with a side of cream cheese you spread yourself has NEVER been to a bagel shop in NYC.

So I read through other reviews, because I wanted to see how others felt about the decision to completely do away with the sandwich menu. I’m actually grateful to see that others agree with me. The first two times my husband and I discovered this, at that time, diamond in the rough, we were ecstatic. The food was so good! We had recommended it to all our friends and family. However the 3rd time we had went, they had completely done away with the best part of their menu. I am sorely disappointed in this decision. My husband and I have not gone back since. There are plenty of bagel and bakeries in Springfield. The deliciousness of the sandwiches is what really set this place apart. I’m sad to say you might as well go to Einstein Brothers or Panera you can get bagels there and you don’t have to assemble your own sandwich.

Best EVER baked goods of all kind. Just got 4 loaves of badka bread(3 of the pecan and cinnamon + 1 loaf of the walnut date). Great cold or warmed with a little butter on top. The young couple that runs this bakery are so kind, down to earth and loving! Check them out… You won’t be disappointed!

I love everything Legacy has to offer, but I’m honestly so disappointed with the decision to eliminate sandwiches from the menu. I mean, I get ridding the board/menu of some of the sandwiches, but not even offering the specialty bagel sandwiches anymore?! That’s just such a travesty. And to claim it’s for customer convenience is superficial to me; it’s not convenient for me(a customer!) to have to pick up a lox«kit» to make my own lox bagel at work. I was more than happy to wait a few moments for someone to make it for me. Now, I love to make a sandwich, but not on the go and not in my office. So, basically, the convenience claims are lost on me. Basically, I love so much about legacy(those donuts, ohhh god; those donuts), but I will be taking a break for a while, as I’m just really unhappy with this business decision.

Bordering on three-star. I’m very much disappointed in the recent changes to this place. Apparently gone are the sandwiches, including the cold-prep ones like the date lady or the mountaineer. The lox bagel is no more, replaced with a DIY version. From what I can tell, they basically took an excellent eatery, cut it in half, and are claiming they’re taking it back to their roots… in a one-year old business. Also heard that the new format is «convenient.» Try to figure that one out while you’re putting together your own lox bagel. I’ve long hoped this place would move at the end of its lease and branch out to being a table service breakfast/lunch spot. Instead, it appears they’re moving in the opposite direction. It’s kinda bizarre on a number of fronts. Still a good bakery, but I don’t see it as the type of place I demand my relatives must go to when they’re in town anymore.

This place makes me happy. In a sort of good luck kids go for it kind of way. It pleases me to no end that they make great good, use organic ingredients, offer veggie and vegan selections and have fresh authentic pastries. All these are worth coming for. But, have you had a cuppa their coffee? Today’s choices were from roasters in Kansas City(local). I am a coffee drinker who usually has to water down bitterness with loads of milk. Tons of sugar. Their selections are so good — drink it black. They are like drinking a good glass of wine. They are artfully served, completely worth the stop, worth getting out of your car for, worth waiting for if need be, worth drinking black. I love their baked goods. I adore their coffee. Being new to SGF it’s been refreshingly fabulous to find this spot. Will be back. And will make a special trip.

For those saddened by the unfortunate short open hours of this wonderful place, you can snag some of their bagels, croissants, and gigantic soft pretzels from the Mudhouse and Mudlounge! That being said, it is necessary you visit this cute little establishment. The pour over coffee alone is worth it. I am usually overwhelmed by the portions but I just buck up and force it all in because I’m a monster about food. The kale sandwich is so amazing and huge and I never want to stop eating it. The Mountaineer is the perfect combination of cream cheese and peanut butter. The fried egg sandwich on an asiago bagel made me feel fat and happy. Legacy makes me happy :)

Giving Legacy Bagelry four stars was… well, it was wrong. Everything I’ve had here is flawless. Last time I visited I ended up spending way too much money on a ton of things just so I could try them all. ZERO regrets. From vegan donuts to pumpkin curry soup(an occasional daily option, to my knowledge) to the instantaneously drool-inducing bagel sandwiches(the Cheesecake! The Date Lady!), Legacy has it going on when it comes to breakfast-lunch hybrid items, not to mention the variety is fantastic. The staff has been incredibly nice and talkative every time I’ve visited. This isn’t fast food, so if you’ve got time to kill, chat them up. My one remaining abysmal nugget of a complaint: I wish they were open longer, or on Sundays. I can’t imagine a tastier Sunday breakfast option(okay, I’m still a Gailey’s loyalist, but my love for general breakfast food rivals the entire character set of Parks and Rec) and I’ve craved it for dinner, too — but the rarity just makes the food all the more desirable. Still, I’d lobby for longer hours ’cause tasty bagels.

I was going to post a picture of our breakfast… but it didnt last long enough to capture one. That’s how good this place is I understand that bagels are a «breakfast» food — but my only wish is that they were open longer. It’s only been recently that I could be expected to out and about before 2pm. It may have been our first visit. But it certainly wont be our last!

This is a wonderful little shop! The people here are all incredibly friendly and the food is delicious. I am especially fond of the Garden of Eden schmear on the jalepeno cheddar bagel. Their rueben is to die for as well, and they have excellent pour-over coffees available. My SO loves the egg and cheese bagel sandwich, and we always have to get one of their chocolate chip cookies(they are huge!). Everything we’ve had from here has been top quality, and I cannot recommend them enough! Also, if you happen to be in when they have their small donuts available, DONOTPASSTHEMUP. Lots of Legacy love!
