Second favorite Mexican restaurant in Springfield only behind AZ-T-CA. A touch overpriced but the food is good & the service is always excellent. Not what I would call truly authentic but but much more so than many of the other Mexican restaurants in the area.

The food wasn’t bad, terrible service. Very slow. I’m glad I came but won’t come back.

Went alone, hostess seated me at the bar without asking and it wasn’t busy. Ordered beef fajitas, they came out about a minute after the very mediocre chips. Tortillas were wrapped in foil, soggy and hard to separate. Plate was not sizzling, I really think I got an order that was a reheated plate. DRY and tough, service from bartender/manager was lazy. The server who picked up my plate wanted to know if anything was wrong since I left so much. I told her and she said she would talk to the manager to take it off. I was then presented with a full check. I saw her say something to the manager, she did nothing. Would never consider going back.

Came in over 2 hours before close. Clearly they were trying to close early. Awful/no service. Waste of time.

Nice atmosphere inside. Started off with a golden margarita nice drink a little short on tequilla. Not that hungry and not sure what to expect after so so bland salsa, I ordered a cheese quesadilla. When my order came up I was dumbfounded with a AMERICAN cheese filled kids meal quesadilla! I asked the server if it was in fact American cheese and she confirmed«yes» isn’t it good? Take your chances here, but I will not be back. Two stars just cause I liked the atmosphere.

This place has amazing food! Best chicken chimis I’ve ever had. I had stopped ordering them for a period of time because I was always disappointed that the places would always use dark crappy meat and put the lettuce and tomato in the the chimi or a lot of peppers and onions. This place uses good white meat chicken and they put the lettuce and tomatoes on the side. The first time we were here my husband got the chicken chimi and I got a beef quesadilla like I usually do because it’s the safe choice. I saw how great his looked and tasted it, it was so good. That is what I get every time now!

This is my second time coming to Los Rancheros and I got the grilled chicken nachos with a side or rice. They are the best chicken nachos I have gotten in Springfield. Their margaritas are good too. The location of the restaurant is not the greatest, but it’s definitely worth coming here. So much better than Xochimilco!!! Definitely give this place a try!

I’m writing this review after my second visit to this establishment at the request of my wife and he friend. After my first visit I would not have returned. the service was bad and I don’t recall the food being any good either. After having visited a second time I have to say I’m a little more impressed. at first our waiter didn’t speak good English and as a result got our order wrong. however, after we waived down another waiter, Arturo, our experience was awesome from that point on. we received our food quickly and Arturo took care of us very well. I had a couple soft tacos and they were very good. my wife had the cheesy rice and chicken and I tasted it also. the rice is very good, maybe slightly spicy to some people, and the chicken and cheese sauce was very tasty. if your looking for good chips though this probably isn’t the place. although they weren’t terrible, they were more like what you would get at the grocery store than authentic Mexican chips. salsa was very good with lots of cilantro which I love. so if your in the area give this one a try and ask for Arturo he will take care of you.

Two New Mexicans staying at the Courtyard, we didn’t have high hopes but were craving a little«home cooking.»(We’ve been eating a lot of great Asian food on this trip and were hungry for something different.) Rather than get a more traditional Mexican meal, I thought I’d try one of their specialties and I was not disappointed. I ordered the grilled chicken with rice and cheese sauce.(I got the sauce on the side.) I thought it was yummy and would go back again for the same thing. My vegetarian husband really liked his veggie fajitas. We ordered a side of black beans to share. The chips were warm and crispy and the salsa was fresh and tasty. Yes, everything was kind of light on heat, but that still left plenty of room for flavor. Spicier options are available, and that’s usually what Jerry goes for, but we were quite happy with what we got. Although the margaritas looked wonderful, I stuck with the iced tea. Service was excellent– attentive without being invasive– and the bill was less than most of the meals we’ve had on this trip. We were very glad we went.

Is definitely not authentic Mexican food. It was horrible!!! I am from South Florida and have been in Mexico more than I can count. Really bad!!!

Flew in from Houston and was staying at the Courtyard next door. Being from Texas my expectations were high. I was pleasantly surprised. The queso dip was a little bland, no tomatoes, onions, etc., just plain cheese sauce, but it had a good taste. Then had the steak burrito which contained slices of fajita meat and was quite good. Very little crowd when I was there on a 7:30 on a Monday.

Food, average. Drinks, fantastic. I had a chicken fajita that was ok. Kinda bland and boring but not bad. My jumbo sangria was so strong and came with fresh fruit. They did not skimp on alcohol or fruit either. I was very happy to have to use two hands to drink this bowl of goodness. The place itself was clean and service was fine. I would def go back for a happy hour!

One of my favorite Mexican places in Springfield. They have a good selection of food items. They even have a lobster quesadilla which I enjoyed very thoroughly, coupled with unlimited chips and salsa this place is most excellent. Though I wish the service a tad bit better.

First off, I love cheese. The amount of cheese they put on everything may have given me a bit of a bias. I’ve only been here twice, but both times I was very happy with(most of) the food. The salsa was nothing special… not very tasty, but then I don’t go to fill up on chips and salsa. Tonight we got the white cheese dip and I thought it was really good. I like Xochimilco’s, but I thought this was a little better. I do agree with another poster that for the price some of their things are small. I got the chimichanga and, while it was good, it was pretty small. I can get two at other places for the same price. But at least you do get rice and beans with your meal. Now someone else said they got cheese enchiladas and there was no cheese. They might have just forgotten that night or something and refused to admit fault. My niece got one tonight and it was oozing cheese. It looked wonderful and she loved it. My sister got the Monterrey steak and thought it was very delicious. The portions were filling. Our waitress was attentive and very polite. We’ll definitely go back.

I’ve been coming off and on for a few years now, so I can say with confidence this place is actually improving in a lot of ways. They’ve stepped up the quality of their dinnerware, and some of the dishes seem slightly improved. The little touches definitely add to the overall experience. Our last visit resulted in an absolutely great chicken glazed dish with all the trimmings. The newer corn chips they serve with the complementary salsa are.interesting. I like them. They’ve always got decent specials throughout the week too. As far as cons — — the food prices are really inflated(as are most places these days), but even with that it’s too high for Mexican food. I can only imagine the markup for whatever they’re paying their distributor. Maybe 5,6 times? Their margaritas are not really margaritas; there is no hint of tequila in the several I’ve had one different occasions, and I know to just not order them here, sadly. The location isn’t anything to scream about, and that’s probably why they don’t do tons of business besides what I’m assuming is mainly hotel guests. Overall, it’s a good Mexican restaurant with excellent atmosphere and personable staff. Catch a mariachi band in there and it’s even better. Recommended!

Food = okay. It was watered down Mexican fare. Presentation is nice but the flavors are not there. Missing salt, spices, and heat! Their chips were good. I had their snapper and shrimp, and while it was edible, it was truly lacking flavor. Service = okay. Prices = moderate. Overall, I’m not going out of my way to eat here.

Where to start? How about basic facts, then details later. Service: great Atmosphere: great Menu: excellent Prices: fair for the menu as it is written Margaritas: what’s tequila? Token Hispanic: well placed as host I have had Mexican across the nation, lived in SoCal for nearly a decade, spent a lot of time eating Mexican style in Arizona, Texas, Colorado and New Mexico, have had eaten at Mexican restaurants all along Baja California(that is Mexico for the gringos) so i feel I have some good opinions on what Mexican style food is and should be. That said… on with the review. I ordered the Texas Margarita which comes with Suaza tequila. That is about the cheapest tequila I like in margaritas. My first impression is far less cloying than the average margarita which is a serious positive. My second and final impression is… where’s the darn Suaza?! The chips and salsa are fine. It is not a salsa fresca so don’t expect fresh chunks of tomato, onion, and cilantro. For dinner I ordered the Ranchero Plate, or something like that. It is a taco, burrito, enchilada, chile relleno, refried beans and rice. It presents excellently. The refried beans are typical. The Mexican style Spanish rice(yes. there is a difference between Spanish Rice, and Mexican Style Spanish Rice) is just OK. The beef taco was better than OK, but I won’t call it good. The problem was the grocery store $ 0.99/packet of taco beef seasoning style meat in the taco. The beef enchilada and burrito suffered the same problem as the taco with that cheap meat that just doesn’t work. The chile relleno was absolutely disgusting. Seriously, it was disgusting. I mean it. Don’t get it. There barely was any fried crispy coating on it. Just enough to see it on the stem but not enough to change texture or flavor. The cheese on the inside. WTF was that? It was like some cheap mystery goo from a caulk gun you’d find at McDonald’s. I enjoyed the dining experience, but really disliked the food.

I went to Los Rancheros last night with a friend for some margaritas and snacks. Last time my friend was in town we went to Los Agaves and we liked this place way better! Unlike the other place Los Rancheros had mexican décor and no cheapo plastic chairs so we were happy with the ambiance from the get go. The chips and salsa were great, the chips being served warm was definitely a plus! We also had guacamole and a half pitcher of margaritas. The guacamole was great and tasted fresh. The margaritas were also fairly priced. All in all it was a great time and I’ll definitely be back!

OMG totally awesome. As luck would have it, I am staying at the Courtyard, right next to the restaurant and hunger had set in. They advertised Authentic Mexican Food, and it sounded much better than some of the chains in the area. We were greeted on entering and immediately sat. Within a minute warm chips and tasty salsa were at the table. Our waiter, Santos, was very accommodating and even brought a second round of chips and salsa. I had the Chicken Chimichanga, it was so tasty that words can barely describe it. The cheese sauce was excellent and the meat was appropriately spiced. The interior was nicely decorated. Spacious booths, nice tables and a nice private room. The lamps were a nice tin, very nicely decorated and lots of traditional colors. Such a happy accident. I wish I was staying in town longer.
