Lowe’s

Much better service, and professionalism on the part of the staff here, as compared to the one on the south end of town. We love their online tool for building something.

(UPDATE) I spoke too soon. Or rather typed too soon. I built a speaker box and was handed a box of screws and was told by a gentleman named Richard, in the tools section, to use a specific drill bit for pilot holes. The drill bit and screws were a bad combination because the screws split the wood due to insufficient diameter of the pilot holes. I took the box back to Lowe’s and explained to them that I was given the wrong tools for the job and requested a new sheet of wood. The assistant manager, Brian, blamed me for the splits in the wood which were caused by the screws while also blaming the wood, stating «it sometimes splits like that, it just happens sometimes». He also suggested that the splits were caused by my drilling of the pilot holes. True, I’m not a woodworking expert, but that is the most ridiculous thing I have ever heard. He tried every way to blame me or the wood for the problems and not take responsibility for an employee’s actions. Near the end, he tried to tell me that all of the splits in the wood were merely aesthetic and would be hidden when I put the box back together and the box would function fine with the splits. I explained to him that the box was made for a high-​powered 12 inch sub woofer and would not stand up to the pressure with the splits in the wood. He still maintained his belief that the box was fine as it was. All in all, a $ 40 sheet of wood has been ruined and several hours of my time has been wasted. Now I have to start all over again.
The staff at Lowe’s is top notch to say the least. I’ve had the occasional experience with a new or young employee who wasn’t as familiar with the store or items as some of the more seasoned employees there. Overall, I would say this is the best store on the north side of Springfield.
Tonight I came in to purchase a sheet of MDF board for a speaker box that I am building. I got to the store little later than I wanted and had some difficulties with deciding how to cut my measurements out of the sheet of wood. Oh yeah, did you know they cut your wood for you at the store? Awesome! So anyway, James was the gentleman who was assisting me tonight and even with all the difficulties that I was creating for him up to and including being there almost a half an hour past closing time, he was very kind, patient and helpful beyond what you would expect from anyone anywhere else. None of the employees made me feel as if I was a burden for being there so long past closing time.
Besides the stellar customer service that I received that Lowes, I recently found out that Kobalt brand tools have the same guarantee that craftsman tools have. This is great, because after a 100 some dollar purchase of a craftsman tool kit and being incredibly disappointed on many many levels, I now know where my next tool purchase will be.

I recently called from outside of Springfield to have work done on a loved one’s house. Because of a timing issue Lowes did not actually do the work. However, everyone I talked with at Lowes was kind and helpful. The person who answered the phone, and my initial request, was patient and got me to the person I needed to talk to. The person who set up the appointment was nice and thorough in the times that I talked with him. The person who called about coming to the house gave his telephone number carefully so I could write it down. These people have someone encouraging them to be kind to customers. I would recommend this store, and intend to use them again myself.

I am a huge Lowe’s fan and this particular store does not disappoint! I am always impressed with Lowe’s employees’ general knowledge and customer service. All Lowe’s offer a 10% military discount! Yah!
