McDonald’s is what it is. Fast-ish food which is more enjoyable than most people want to willingly admit. I visit a Maccas every few weeks and have recently done so in Washington DC, Nashville, Macon, Fort Lauderdale etc… It seems to me that the once sparkling clean burger shops with fresh faced kids serving with the naïve enthusiasm of youth has become something less. Yesterday, I visited the Springfield store. The shop was grubby. Despite the very few customers in the place, the kitchen floor was strewn with french fries and paper cup lids. I was told the machine which is used to make milkshakes was broken and had been for ‘months’ and the staffer who took my order seemed to think that was just fine…“Do y’all wanna coke instead”?. So.The burger took several minutes to arrive and was served in a paper bag despite my assertion that I wanted to eat-in. Anyway, I went to three tables before I found one which was clean. Now to the staff. I understand the laws of discrimination and the requirements of political correctness which put pressure on employers. I will say only this: Size matters, and it does rather seem that Maccas generally has seen fit to supersize a good proportion of the staff before dressing them in uniforms which seem, uniformly, to be either several sizes too small, or several sizes too large. It’s a bloody good thing that the burger was delicious, but it’s getting harder to remain a regular McDonald’s customer.

I stopped in here yesterday because my grandson was hungry and it was right there. Extremely slow service. Place was very very dirty. The high chair looked as if it wasn’t cleaned in years, floor was sticky, drink station filthy and not even stocked with straws. The cheeseburger bun was stale also. Fries were good though. While I sat there, I counted 5 people that came in the door with their own large McDonald’s cup, refilling from the drink station. I didn’t see where they had a promotion to bring your own cup. My advice: stay away
