Mr. Video

Do not use these guys, they are absolute scam artists. I won’t go into details of my experience with them, but honestly, stay away– use a different company.

I have used Mr. Video for 4 events that were very successful because of the excellent sound equipment and the Technicians who did the set-​ups and delivery were extremely helpful and quick. I would recommend them in a heartbeat.

Take your business elsewhere. Don’t risk it.
I recently put on a benefit for veteran homelessness and we asked if Mr. Video would help us with some sound equipment. Not only did they refuse to donate and charge me full price for every single piece of equipment I rented, but afterward they sent me an email trying to invoice me for cables they said were missing but were RETURNED.
If they can’t keep their own paperwork straight you’re basically rolling the dice on whether or not you’re going to be blamed for their errors or charged for their broken equipment.
I have my receipt for every single item rented which was returned promptly and on-​time by 11am and nearly a month later I get this:
I have not received the missing XLR cables as of now.
Let me know if I should send you the invoice for the replacement cost.

Not sure if they have changed their videographer yet but I used them 7 years ago and the video was SO fast that we could not watch it — it made us dizzy. They couldn’t even slow it down. They missed videotaping some of the key aspects of the event. Would not recommend if it’s the same videographer.

I was really surprised to read all the negative reviews about this place. I’m glad I didn’t see them before otherwise I most likely would have passed on using Mr. Video.
I actually had a great experience. I found them online and requested an estimate. Someone from the sales dept replied immediately. I decided to use them and when I arrived to pick up my equipment I saw the screen I reserved was much larger than I had imagined. The receptionist and the AV person switched it out for me without complaint.
I arrived to return the equipment an hour before they opened not realizing they didn’t open until 10am. I was sick with the flu and trying to hurry to a doctors appointment as soon as possible. I called and spoke with someone who said the AV person was on his way and she would let him know to come early if he could. 20 minutes later I had turned everything in and was on my way to the doctor.
I would absolutely recommend this vendor. They were friendly, professional and knowledgeable with amazing customer service. Kudos!

Our membership organization was offering a continuing education event at a local Marriott and we needed a nice projector PRONTO. I checked out their website, submitted a request for a quote and got an email within a ½ hour with cost etc. A few days later I dropped by, picked up an exceptional projector, their technician Darren went over the operation of the unit and I was out the door within 15 minutes. Great group, nice people, reasonable prices. You won’t be disappointed.

I am a volunteer for a local non-​profit organization that provides services for the elderly. This organization rented a pair of stereo speakers with built in amplifiers (Mackie Speakers 15″. SRM 450) from Mr. Video on July 3^rd 2010 for use on our float in the annual Palisades 4^th July parade. After around one hour of use in the parade one of the speakers emitted smoke, caught fire and then stopped working. According to the user manual the speakers have a thermal protection circuit that is supposed to cut the power to the amp and speaker if it overheats. This circuit malfunctioned causing the built in amp to burn up. We continued with the remaining speaker but the effectiveness of the float was compromised. Worse still, upon return of the equipment Mr Video charged $ 600.00 for a new replacement speaker. This is akin to a customer experiencing a roadside breakdown on a rental car and then being billed for the repair! The speakers were brand new and subject to a 5 year warranty in case of failure so it would appear that Mr. Video may have been attempting to have the unit repaired under warranty and in addition be paid for a brand new unit. After several months of fruitless correspondence with Mr Video the credit card company agreed that an injustice had occurred and charged back the $ 600.00. Also the units were powered from a car battery then through a DC to AC inverter. This inverter emitted a very loud buzzing interference throughout the operation of the speakers. A replacement inverter was provided but the problem repeated.
Needless to say we won’t be using this unscrupulous outfit ever again.
