The atmosphere was really cool! The fountain inside is really nice. We split the shrimp fajitas and they were great! My dad had the tacos and they were really good as well. The waiter was friendly and the food came out really fast. I would come here again.

I ordered three different tacos, and each was well-spiced and flavorful. The shrimp were definitely the best – juicy with grilled pineapple and a nice touch of heat. Bacon pinto beans were excellent. Great service, nice atmosphere.

Ate here tonight and love the new menu ! Had the shrimp tacos and loved them. The service was outstanding, fast and friendly. So glad Chef Sean is now here to help with a new look on food.

The flavors were good, but two of our items were partially burned. The server seemed s little confused, so the large party taking up much of the dining room may have thrown them off tonight.

Pretty unfortunate experience. This was my first time going to Omar’s and based on some of the reviews, I figured it would be a pretty good experience. I was very very wrong. I came here with a small group of friends yesterday. There was 4 of us altogether. As you can see from my pictures, the restaurant was COMPLETELY empty. Us 4 were the only customers in the entire restaurant. Upon walking in, there was no hostess up front. To the left of walking in, there is a bar. There was an employee just sitting there when we walked in and he didn’t even acknowledge us. Luckily, a nice older lady came by(didn’t speak English, so just kinda waved us along) and moved us to the restaurant area. When we sat down, it took 10 – 15 minutes for anybody to come by to even take our drink order or bring us chips & salsa, despite the fact that there were employees walking around, completely ignoring us. At this point, I was completely annoyed and wanted to leave. Our waiter finally came over and took our drink orders and brought us the chips & salsa. After a couple minutes he came by again and took our orders. I ordered the taquitos, which according to the menu were very straightforward, which is good cuz I’m the ultimate picky eater. Once we all got our food, I immediately saw add ons inside the taquito and didn’t want them. I was going to request for a new, plain order, but unfortunately, after we got our food, our waiter was nowhere to be found. He disappeared for the next 25 min and I finally gave up and decided to just return my food. What possible excuse could there be? We were the only table in the restaurant, so he obviously wasn’t busy providing his«top notch» customer service to anyone else. This is probably the worst experience I’ve had at a restaurant. But to top this all off, when my friends got their checks, the hostess had zero idea of how to ring them out. Their bills were fool proof… already had the price of each item, the tax, and the final amount. The hostess repeatedly kept adding an additional tax on there, even after my friend Matt had pointed out her error. She tried to justify what she was doing, but in actuality, she was clueless. She finally said«let me go check with Omar.» Idk if she was new or what the situation is, but if she’s that new and can’t do a simple transaction, she needs to have someone next to her, training her! And btw, we were freezing in there. We actually checked the thermostat, and it was set to 65 degrees. Seriously, from the moment we walked in the door to the moment we left, this so-called restaurant is a nightmare. Never again.

Omar’s restaurant is great for the family or for a nice couples night out. Omar aims to please. We drive from Rochester… It’s well worth it.

David Nelson I think this the best kept secret in Chatham/Springfield. The new menu is modern and innovative from squash stuffed Chille Rellenos to Grilled Salmon with polenta!!!

Standard Americanized fare. A little more variety than most places though. The rice was either undercooked or had been sitting out too long. It was crunchy and cry. And also absolutely flavorless. The beans were bland. We had the Texas fajitas and chicken fajitas. We had asked for corn tortillas instead of flour. That didn’t happen. And the waitress never came back so we ate the flour tortillas. The meat was seasoned and tasted ok but the chicken was really dry. The chips and salsa were average. The chips didn’t taste fresh, and tasted similar to grocery store chips.

We enjoyed our first visit since the restaurant changed hands. Good service and food. The taco/enchilada meat is flavorful and not too greasy. Cleanly served. Modelo Especial and Dos Equis are on tap. Pleasant atmosphere with a fountain in the dining room. Recommended.

The food was very authentic, especially for this area. I love that you can choose between corn or flour tortillas as I prefer corn and most places don’t offer them. The smashed beans with bacon were delicious. Everything we had was amazing!

Very disappointed! First, the menus were dirty, at least wipe them off or throw them out if they have food all over them. Cheese sauce for the chips was terrible, globs of unmelted cheese in it, barely edible. I had two cheese enchiladas with rice and beans, red sauce on them was on at mediocre at best the middle was cold and unmelted. My son had a cheese quesadilla which for $ 2.75 was on one tortilla folded in half with minimal cheese in it. Fried ice cream was«fried»…do not believe for minute it was fried… was barely covered in whatever they roll it in. It was just ok as well. Service was slow considering we were the only ones in there for the first twenty minutes, at 5:00 on a Sunday. Had to ask three times for the check. Will not go back much better choices elsewhere!

Been here twice. Not good. Probably the worst nachos I’ve ever had anywhere. It took me a long time to find cheese on the nachos. The beef is the consistency of paste like they are using an extender to make a small portion of beef stretch farther. Chips are straight out of a bag, not fresh.

Disappointing. Seeing Horsehoe on the menu took away any hint of authenticity from Xochimilco and made it another springfield restaurant that serves«mexican» food. This was the first of several disappointments on our visit, which was not my first time there. First, it was incredibly noisy — but I guess that’s understandable, given that we were there on a friday night. Second, the extensive menu seemed to have two prices — $ 11.25 or #12.95 for entrees. Third, the food was drab. Not bad tasting, just plain, flavorless and flat. The chewy tamale had the consistency and appearance of soggy cardboard, with taste to match. Sorry to be so negative, but… authentic does not belong here. If it’s authentic you’re looking for, keep looking.

We use to come here at least a couple of times a month but the food and drink quality really slipped. Decided to give it another try. Not bad food but far from the best Mexican food in the area. That’s the only reason they get 2 stars. I’m being generous. We’ve never had a bad meal but never really good either. The margaritas might have had a tequila bottle waved past the glasses. If there was tequila in them it was a very light pour. They could sell them to those under 21 and never be accused of selling alcohol to minors. The place always sounds loud. Something needs done to muffle the room noise. Maybe we’ll come back in a year to see if it has improved.

Salsa and chips were good. Food was average. I had a beef burrito and a cheese enchilada. Shouldn’t of wasted my time with the enchilada. My boyfriend had grilled chicken nachos and it needed a lot more cheese to make it worth the $ 13 it costed. Also, the«white cheese» was white American cheese not goat cheese. Our meal was $ 21 and we only got water to drink. I just think that’s a little steep for mexican food.

I came here Saturday with a friend. It was about 8pm and only 2 other tables were in the restaurant. This should have been a sign to me. I do not live in Springfield anymore and my friend has never lived here. We asked questions about the menu and she laughed at us. The server rushed us… through everything. She was no friendly. Then when we went to pay, she left for the night we were told. Food was BLAH, service was bad, margs were ok… but I do not plan on coming back next time I am intown.

*This review is from before it was Omar’s. I have not been there since it changed hands* I was trying to find Head West(a sandwich shop nearby) when I saw this colorful restaurant and had to stop. We were seated immediately in a booth in what is the best Mexican restaurant dining room I’ve ever been in. I ordered a strawberry margarita and the #18 lunch special(Chicken, steak, rice, and beef burrito). The margarita was delicious and not watered down and the burrito was awesome. Oh and the salsa was fabulous. nice and spicy. The bill was incredibly low! $ 1.99 for a margarita? What? I would definitely come back here the next time I go through Springfield, without even looking at any other restaurants!

This more upscale location of the popular Xochimilco chain blends a festive atmosphere with home-style Mexican staples. Personally, I highly enjoyed the Thursday night sangria drink special, and the combination meal(#3) I ordered, while nothing inventive, was right in all the necessary ways. One detracting factor is that, perhaps since re-opening, prices seem to have risen beyond what inflation might account for. Though not expensive per se, a date for two is going to cost $ 30 here. This puts Xochi on par with Applebee’s, Chili’s, and other national chains, discounting the specials that such places often offer for two diners(2 for $ 20 menu, for example). All in all, this is a great place to meet friends, get some drinks, and eat appetite-sating Mexican food, but the experience falls far short of being anything special.

This place was a nice little slice of Mexican food heaven in a state with very few quality Mexican options to go around. For starters, the cheese sauce is actually the queso blanco that you get in Texas and in the southwest. That delicious nectar of dipping sauce is just impossible to come by north of the Mason DIxon line, let alone Illinois or Chicago. My wife ordered the creamy chicken and loved her meal. I had the burrito loco and was a little disappointed, but just chalked it up to ordering the wrong thing. Our servers were really nice and the beer/cocktails selection was pretty decent. Can’t wait to go back again sometime.
