Sadly, this location is closing. Heard it straight from the horse’s mouth. Evidently, Safeway wanted to expand and redo the store. Landlord wouldn’t let them AND went up on rent. I was told an Asian supermarket will be put in its place. Yes, the store was old, but it was clean. And the customer service folks were always friendly. Produce appearance had started improving over the last several months. Admittedly, location will do well as an Asian grocery store, but many in the area have just had their local grocery store swiped away. Oh well. Progress.

I came here because I was stopping at the Swiss Bakery nearby. The store had what I was looking for. I also returned an item here that I bought from another Safeway location and it was not a problem.

First time stopping by this Safeway. Stopped to buy few things on my way to a friend’s house. Went to look for some body spray by the deodorant aisle, but I couldn’t find any. They had the gel kind, but not the spray kind… Did I not look hard enough? Anyways, I was like whatever, I’ll just get it another time at a another store.

This Safeway is in desperate need of a makeover! The meat and produce sections are especially sad. However, the wine selection is ironically(or maybe not?) bountiful. It is close, but I would still rather drive further away for better selection and pricing. I feel bad for the staff, there is often only one cashier at peak times, and although they always maintain a great attitude, this has to be incredibly stressful! That being said, their staff is actually the reason for my second star, without them this would be a one star review.

Convenient to my office but, expensive and SLOOOWWW. I stopped in to pick up some Swiss cheese, tomatoes and other produce, it took the deli clerk 15 minutes to slice a half pound of Swiss cheese, no joke. Got to the register and the initial checkout went smoothly, forgot a cucumber came back through the line and the cashier had to have the manager come for an override on the previous customer’s order. It took the manager another 10 minutes to appear and he was pretty surly when he got there, he walked off, without completing the override, and I left the cucumber there. Come on folks, it’s about good customer service. It’s really easy, get it, or your competition will.

This place is in need of update. Its like 1986 stoped here and nothing moved on, including the staff. they have what you need.

I go to this Safeway frequently since I live right next to it. It is not my favorite at all. There’s a really mean and super old cashier lady in the mornings. She is cranky and does not seem to know math. Once my total was $x.12. I handed her a $ 20 and took some time to fish out 12 cents from my wallet. I told her to wait, but she punched it into the register and handed me back $x.88. I gave her the 12 cents, expecting that she would give me back just bills since the register was still open, but she refused, saying she wasn’t allowed to. Every single store that I’ve ever requested that service has always done that for me. Unfortunately, she seems to be the only cash register person in the mornings, and I have to put up with her whenever I go in the mornings. At first, I found that coyingly sweet customer service thing that Safeway has to telling their employees to do was a bit too much, but this lady obviously didn’t get the memo. However, the night staff are really nice and funny. Regarding the food and merchandise. It’s a really small Safeway compared to other Safeways. I know a lot of Safeways have been or are being remodeled to be more upscale and what not but this is still kind of dingy looking. So naturally, their selection is really dismal, especially their produce and meat selection. Often, when I go to Safeway with a list of ingredients I need, I’ll usually have to go to Whole Foods or Giant afterwards since it wasn’t at the store or the quality was bad. I was seriously repulsed by the look of the Safeway brand chicken breasts and decided to fork up some extra dollars for a much safer looking piece of meat at Trader Joe’s. Their prices are higher too(blame the unions?). Seriously, I can buy better quality, organic stuff for a lower price at Whole Foods or Trader’s. I’ve been told by some of the employees that they’re buying out the old full time union employees, so hopefully their prices will be lower in the coming months(and maybe that old lady won’t be there anymore to give me dirty looks in the morning?)

This store has one of the friendliest people working for them. I visit this store all time as it is located just across my workplace. The only problem is it seems that they always lacking in manpower in the cashier department. Parking is always busy, but there is no problem finding a spot or two.
