Salvation Army

These people act like they are doing you a favor by taking your donations. They are downright rude.
They look over the form they give you as if you plan on committing fraud. It’s crazy. I will take my donations to savers from now on as they are very friendly and helpful.
It’s too bad as they really do go work in most areas of the country. Sad Springfield is so lowbrow and nasty.

I’ve always been into bargain hunting/​thrift stores, and Savers was my hotspot. The other day, however, my dad suggested that I try Salvation Army, as it is closer to where I live. The result? I can’t thank him enough.
I’ll get the negatives out of the way so I can move onto the positives. The only real downside to this shop is that the clothes are organized by color instead of size, it seems, and it makes shopping a bit harder, as you have to physically find the size tag on the inside of the piece of clothing. Additionally, the fitting rooms are locked, so you have to ask an employee to open the door. And finally – if this even bothers you– the store has that musty thrift shop smell. You get used to it quickly though.
The positives? The Salvation Army is MUCH cheaper than Savers. The other day I bought 3 pairs of shorts, 1 cardigan, and 1 dress at savers for a total of $ 40. A few days later at Salvation Army, I bought 1 skirt, 1 sweater, 1 pair of yoga pants, and 1 dress for just under $ 20. The average piece of clothing at Savers is about $ 7.99−9.99, and at Salvation Army is $ 3.99-$ 4.99.
Additionally, you can find some great brands at Salvation Army. As mentioned, I purchased a dress ($ 7.99). It was Charlotte Russe. The sweater that I bough for $ 3.99? American Eagle.
Overall, Salvation Army is a fantastic shop. You don’t need to be rich to buy nice clothes – you just need to know how to search for great deals. I would highly, highly recommend this thrift shop.

I’m a big fan of this Salvation Army location. They have tons of clothes and shoes, some furniture and other home goods, as well as books, CDs, DVDs, vinyl, cassettes, etc.
The cashiers at the front are always helpful and super friendly. Both times that I’ve purchased items, they are willing to give a discount for items that appear to have holes or or otherwise damaged.
Staff that are meandering about are a little less helpful. You have to ask for the dressing rooms to be open, and it’s always a chore to try and find someone.
The «special» of the day, meaning things that are 50% off, is usually listed on a whiteboard at the front of the store. If you have any questions just ask the cashiers.
Being from Arizona, I had to completely revamp my wardrobe. I was able to buy a dozen or more thick winter sweaters and long sleeve shirts (Gap, LL Bean) for less than $ 40. On another trip, I spent less than $ 20 and got several long sleeve button down shirts and a nice winter coat (Coldwater Creek, Ralph Lauren).
The best tip is to allow plenty of time to browse through all of the racks. You’ll find that you save a lot more money if you follow the sales on each colored tag. Some things appear to be marked rather high, but if you can wait and are willing to come back to the store on another day, you may be able to get that item for 50% off (assuming it’s still there).
Easily one of the better places I’ve been to for quality, name-​brand clothing that is clean and available at a heavy discount.

Fairly large Salvation Army, and it usually has what you’re looking for if you’re searching for something simple. Lots of clothes and old furniture. Their inventory seems to be on good rotation and the employees have always been friendly. Great location, too! If you’re the sort to frequent thrift shops for hidden treasures though, there’s rarely anything really awesome here — just the basic stuff that people need like used clothes, jackets and shoes for (always) great prices.

Well stocked. Great selection of items, mostly clothes. Most apparel is «off the hanger wearable», clean and serviceable. Go on a Wednesday, almost everything is ½ off. I bought a large suitcase full of clothes (and the suitcase) for $ 15.
I always have a friendly experience when I come to this area.(I’m from out of state)
