This review will be easy. Steak good. Service was the worst ever !!! The only reason why I’m giving any stars is because the comedians were hysterical. I would never go there for dinner again. The group of 12 I was with all said the same. I would go to the show only and get a few apps and drinks.

I’ve been to Scotty’s for dinner and for the comedy club, but not both. The food is serviceable. Not great, but that’s OK. For the dinner/comedy club special you get a dinner menu choice of about 10 main entrees, add $ 3 for a steak, and a salad. The rest of the menu is a little confusing. At the bottom of the menu, it says that there is two item minimum upstairs in the club. It also says that your dessert/coffee could be part of that 2 item minimum, which implies(or we inferred) that dessert/coffee is includes in the $ 20 dinner(which is a GREAT deal). However, this is NOT the case. Dessert and coffee are separate and you still have to pay for them separately. All of this would have been slightly OK, if we hadn’t had to wait for a long time for food/drinks. I and a friend(her birthday) got there at 7 when we had reservations. We were joined by additional people shortly afterward. It wasn’t particularly crowded and our waitress was OK at that point. But then, she was no where to be found and it took forever to get our main courses. I had to go to the front desk to get the waitress to get our bill and take home containers. In the meantime, people were headed upstairs to get seats in the club. We were a group of 5 and didn’t want to sit near the stage and get picked on. My friend asked someone who worked there if we needed to get seats and reserve them. I guess he put up a sign, but didn’t get back to us where it was. By the time we got our bill paid, bathroom break and food to cars, and found our seats, the show started. That means that dinner took nearly 2 hours!!! The waitress was spending part of her time also working upstairs so she didn’t have time to get our dinner/bill/take-home containers. We get upstairs and find our seats. My friend said that our seats were originally set to be in a table near the front and moved them. The comedians were passable, but not as funny as others I’ve seen there — I’ve been there about 3 other times. There’s an MC who promotes drinks introduces the other comedians and such and he was not funny at all. The other three were so-so. The second guy was actually a bit funny, but the third guy was just painful. A lot of picking on the audience. The servers were running around and finally got ahold of someone during the LAST comedian. We probably could have gotten away with not ordering our two item minimum at all, but did. We got dessert and a couple of us got coffee and a couple of drinks. At the end, we got the bill it had everything on it, which confused us. We had put our stubs from downstairs in the bill to show that we’d been there for dinner, and paid for the drinks. We tried to explain to the owners that the menu was confusing about this and eventually we paid for it all. Had we known that was the case, we would have gotten something less expensive, but we didn’t even get serviced until nearly the end of the show. The chocolate brownie was very good, but it doesn’t make up for the confusion and slow service. You can’t have the waitstaff work both up and downstairs. On Friday, my husband & I went to Jose Teja’s in Fairfield(NJ) and the bill came to $ 27 and I left a $ 13 tip and Jose’s is always busy, but the food is great. I’m not afraid to reward great service but neither am I a pushover. I told a friend who is in event planning about this and she was really confused and said she’d never heard of anything like this before.

If I could give zero stars I would. HORRIFICSERVICEANDEVENWORSEFOOD! !!! We were with the comedians that were performing too!!! The owner seemed to not care and thought that complementary champagne and noise makers on a $ 1000 bill would suffice. I’ll never go here again. NEVERGOTHERE! !!!

***I must start off and say I have only been here for drinks so my comments are not about the food*** — drinks are standard — prices are decent — vibe is a bit dull and boring not a lot of action– I can’t explain it but the place needs a change and some pizzaz

They have some really funny comedians!!’ I was very impressed! Our server was really good, not easy serving a house full so quickly as they are seated. The wine was good and the burger and fries delicious! We even had the chocolate soufflé which was not bad! Go — have fun!!!

Been a while since I reviewed. That’s because I wanted to keep it positive. Saturday night I had the show and dinner special at Scotty’s, excellent. Great crab cake with a Delmonico steak. Both excellent. So, I could have left a happy man, me and my five friends but we stayed for the show. Could not have had a better time. There was the headliner Mike Gaffney(I bought his CD) the other acts were Tommy Gooch from Staten Island, he works with Vic DiBitteo.(which seems to be a big thing) Also there was Kim Johnny. What was an added treat, almost like the comic that comes from behind the curtain on the Johnny Carson Show(I know dated) we were treated to another Staten Islander who was there for the show. Susan Golden who came on stage because she was coaxed by the management. She killed. So all and all good solid food, nice pour on the drinks and most important a very funny show. I ‘m telling friends

What to do? Where to eat? Me and my counsins decided to check the place on the way back to CT. Scotty’s was an experience. FIRST, no one greeeted us. We went to the bar and the bartender instructed us to sit at the bar section or outside. We sat. There were No servers. We had to tell the bartender. The music was too loud. We moved outside. Let’s just say that I felt like I was on «Up in smoke tour». There were cigarettes, cigars and not sure what. We returned back in and request to cancel our meal. But it was already in the works. We opted to do take out. The bartender said our food would be ready real soon. Fast foward to 15 –20 minutes. By then we had to sit down, starving and eat our to go meal at the table. No one was able to check on us and offer us napkins, drinks or anything. The food was ok. Nothing really special. In all, not a good experience. I was hoping that Scotty’s would take care of non local diners, but that wasn’t the case.

I’ve been here several times! I usually go on Friday or Saturday nights and make reservations for the dinner & comedy show! Service is on the slow side, but iced cold beer and good company can cure their only weakness. The Ribeye Delmonico is my favorite choice! Cooked to perfection! There’s a great selection on the menu so anyone’s palette should be pleased! The owner Gene & Laurielle will greet you during the night as if you’re a V.I.P. Upstairs is the Comedy Cove. Usually for $ 20 per person, you can have a cheap night out! I’ve never been disappointed! Note: there is a 2 item purchase required during the show. It could be 2 drinks or just a coffee & cake.

I LOVE Scotty’s. The people who work there are very friendly. The food is good and very reasonably priced. Great drinks. Fun place to go with friends for a night out and some good laughs. I actually took a comedy class that they offer with Chip Ambrogio. It was AWESOME! It was a six week course and then there is a graduation ceremony the 7th week were we all performed. I learned so much about what it takes to be a comedian. I highly recommend this class to anyone who wants to either be a stand-up comic, complete another task on their bucket list or just got out one night a week for an awesome experience. Overall, great place!

I’ve seen their special on Groupon MANY of times, so I decided why not take the special offer and go. So I went there with my date, we got there before showtime and I showed my voucher to the attendant. We decided on the mozzarella sticks, which was part of the offer and then we went to the Tiki Bar to have a drink. When showtime came around, we headed upstairs and we were escorted to our seats by the attendant. He informed us that there is a 2 item minimum per person and that the drinks we had a the Tiki Bar(which we were still drinking) did not count. That didn’t sit well with us, but we decided to stay and feel the place out a bit more. We received our mozzarella sticks, which were awful. The sticks were overdone with no flavor and the sauce was bitter. My date had a couple of beers. I asked the waiter for a slice of regular cheesecake and another drink. He told me they only had lemon cheesecake. I found it strange since the menu did not say lemon cheesecake, it just said cheesecake. He said he would check. Then another waiter stated they do have regular cheesecake and he would bring it out. The first waiter came back with the regular cheesecake and said they found a slice of regular cheesecake. He also stated if there was a problem with it to let him know. The cheesecake was edible, but tasted like pure cream, from top to bottom and I didn’t enjoy it all that much. Now, on to the comics. The first comedian wasn’t funny, the second one was mediocre and the last star comedian was comical. After our dreaded 2 item minimum per person limit was fulfilled and the show was over, we headed home. I won’t come back to this place ever!

I was there July 3rd and had a good time upstairs for the show which I enjoyed even though it was an icebox. The food down stair was not pleasant. Would never order the shrimp appetizer nor would I order the sliders. Really how do you mess up a burger? Had to ask for mayo and ketchup the staples. I would see a show again but would dine somewhere else.

It has been many years since I have come here– use to be a place in my younger days that we would come for happy hour and bar food. Thursday night I attended a charity event tied into an evening of very funny comedy. I came after a very long day– and came hungry. After reading mixed reviews I decided I would give it a try and ordered the fish and chips. They were very very good– 3 huge pieces of flaky, mild and fresh fish served with tartar sauce and a decent cole slaw. I asked for malt vinegar and a bottle quickly appeared. My dining partner had the buffalo shrimp wrap and it was delicious as well. If you want a fun evening out come see the show and do not eat anywhere else– you will enjoy the food and it is so reasonably priced! The service at the bar was great!

This place has a gold mine of a location and so much potential – it is in much need of major upgrade(thinking pool tables, air hockey.) The food is very medicore for dinner and the service is «eh.» The blue cheese dressing for the wings was watery(that’s what makes the wings good anyway, right ?!) and the food was salty. It’s unfortunate because the Comedy Cove was excellent – great comedians and delicious peanut butter pie. Since this is one review I’ll have to stick my star right in the middle, I’ll give Scotty’s Steakhouse 1star and comedy cove 5 so that makes it a 3.

Pros: very reasonably priced, a burger with fries only cost $ 8.95, and they have a lot of standard fare. Comedy club upstairs allows you to just enjoy the food of you want and avoid the crazies. Comedy club is great because they have a mixture of established comics and up and coming comics in a very comfortable space. Cons: the atmosphere in the restaurant is a little dated looking, and the food isn’t exactly steakhouse quality. So while it isn’t a true steakhouse level restaurant, they aren’t charging you those prices either. It’s a great fit as long as you have those expectations.

You’ll have at least one comic comment on his or her career status, now that his/her performance is in the attic of a steakhouse in Springfield, NJ, but it is expected and no matter how many times I hear that line, I still see the humor in it. This is an awesome place for people in New Jersey to see some great comedy without the hassle of traveling into NYC(and all the tolls, parking, etc). The comics are amazing. My wife Nancy and I have been there many times and on different nights for different events. We are especially fond of the Watson and Watson Radio Show on Wednesdays, Seymour Swan and Friends on Sundays, occasionally New Talent Night and just the regular shows on either Friday or Saturday nights. Sometimes, when the comics performing are THAT good, we go both Friday and Saturday. No matter when we go the food is great. I have never had the necessity to send anything back to the kitchen. Sure, many of your menu choices are pub style, but you are at a pub so you should expect that. I have to say, I love the food. Not only does it taste great, the prices are reasonable. The waitstaff are quick, attentive and friendly. Overall, I would recommend this place to anyone looking to see good comedy and eat some decent food. Yes, they have steaks at Scotty’s Steakhouse and yes, the steaks are good. Yes, they have comedy at the Comedy Cove upstairs and yes, the comedy is good. I would personally recommend that you take in a dinner and a show at least once to see how you like it. That way, when you are satisfied, you can post your review here.

Every weekend comedy show I’ve been to has been great. What a great place to go on a date… local comedy at far below the cost for the same comics in NYC. There are some items on the menu that I love… the lobster mac n’cheese is great, I love their steaks, and they make a great Brandy Alexander too! The service is always great and the comedy shows, really, are just outstanding. What a great place to have locally! Oh, their cheesecake is really good too!

They are trying to improve their specials. Every so often I see a new banner outside with an enticing offer so I thought I would try this place. The baseball game was on in many areas by the bar so I guess it is a good place to see a game. I had a burger and was cooked ok. Fries ok. Passable but dated inside. A little freshening would help a lot. Overall ok, not bad not great.

Based on the reviews that I saw on here I was hestiant to even visit this place but it wasn’t my event so I showed up. I actually ate before I got here just to make sure that I wouldn’t have to go through the pain that some of you have experienced. Well I went to the comedy show which attracted an interesting crowd to say the least. I’ve driven past this place a million times and had no idea that they had comedy shows in here. But they did and the show was decent nonetheless. Well there were many brave souls at the table that did order appetizers and dinner. I didn’t really see too many people complaining or sending anything back. I had a few nibbles on some things and they were decent. The menu is just real basic pub style food. If you are looking for a good night out with the lady this isn’t your place but if you want to drive 5 minutes grab a drink and potentially be entered based upon who they have on stage than head to Scotty’s.

The Comedy Cove part of Scotty’s gets some excellent comedians – Robin Fox, Carmen Lynch, Andy Pitz, Rodney Laney, Joe Devito, etc – check the performers’ clips on the internet to be sure they match your taste. The staff is very nice, all seats have a good view and prices are reasonable.
