I’m really glad I found this record shop. It’s not too terribly far away, has a decent selection and great staff. Merchandise: –lots and lots of used vinyl in many different genres, mostly rock, pop, blues, jazz, and hip hop. Great for«branching out», picking up a few records and listening to new things. –most everything is sorted alphabetically by artist, though maybe not the boxes of vinyl underneath the tables –genres appropriately grouped into sections –some used cassette tapes -«new arrivals» in the center of the store for easy access and browsing(not grouped by genre or artist) –store also buys/trades vinyl Other store features: –Pac-Man arcade video game –turntable with headphones to listen to records Price: –most of the used vinyl were $ 4 – 5, with the exception of «collector» or more rare vinyl, which I saw up to $ 50. –I feel this is «OK» pricing but definitely not a deal. I bought 4 records for $ 30, 3 for $ 4 – 5 and a Pixies album for $ 15. Quality: –most records are in good-fair condition. The sleeves are sometimes a little bit worse for the wear, show signs of aging and damage, some have been written on with permanent marker by other shops or owners. –the Pixies album I purchased for $ 15 had some scratches on it, which I noticed before I left the store. The owner tried to clean it, but it didn’t really buff out any of the damage. This album would have been a deal if the record had less damage; unfortunately, it’s borderline unplayable as the crackles and pops(plus one skip) are completely distracting. Staff: –Giovanni, the owner, is really warm and friendly. He helped me sort through different vinyl and played some of it over the stereo. –one complaint is that the total price should have come to $ 29 and somehow he rounded up to $ 30 without really telling me why(likely taxes, but no explanation or receipt). –another issue is that when I explained that there was some popping/crackling when I listened to the Pixies album in-store, no offer of a discount was given. When I got the album home, I realized how obvious the noise was, and am considering going back to ask for a refund, as the record is borderline unplayable and can be purchased on Amazon for $ 15 all the same. I’ll write an update with the results of my issues. And by the way, I’ll still go back to this record store regardless of the results on the Pixies album issue, because this place is still pretty great.
