For what elderly people pay to live here, they aren’t getting anything special. Growing up around nursing homes, I have no respect for this place. It’s a nice facility, but there are problems. I’ve had family stay here before, and I think there are a lot better options out there. My biggest pet peeve about any type of assisted living facility versus a hospital or nursing home is the fact that the employees aren’t required to go through any training through the Oregon State Board of Nursing to work here. Any idiot on the planet can work here. Which includes passing out narcotics to patients/residents. I don’t know about anyone else, but I find someone without any certification or training handing out narcotics to be a problem. The food leaves a lot to be desired. Again, I doubt they hire anyone who knows how to cook, budget, or portion it correctly. I am not remotely impressed. Usually in places like this they will have a nutritionist on staff, and the head of the kitchen will have a degree. Not just a random person who can cook at home. The facility is nice, like I said. For cleanliness and being aesthetically pleasing, it gets an A plus. They have a very small parking lot, that isn’t sectioned off, or marked in any way, which I think it should be. It should be marked for residents, employees, and visitors. That way everyone parks in the correct area, and residents aren’t left parking at the end of the lot and walking way more than they can actually handle. The parking lot is also very small. I think it needs to be a little bit bigger to handle all of the employees, residents, and visitors. They also abuse the fire lane. The administrator will park her truck there, in a marked loading zone for paramedics and fire trucks. Long after I had a family member live here, I had to go in for work, and I had hopes that they had improved. I was disappointed. Employees are less than friendly. I’ve had to deliver newspapers in here, which they let me in the door, I had to ring a doorbell. I was let in, and since it wasn’t normally my route, I had to ask the employee who typically delivered them. Some places have the staff do it, some have the carrier do it, it varies by each place. The employee cops a total attitude, and instead of just saying I needed to deliver to each individual room, she says, «I hope you don’t expect me to deliver those for you.» I thought she could have approached that in a totally different manner that didn’t come across in such a hostile way. I had no problem doing it myself, but I wanted confirmation as to how it was typically done. Is it a place I would recommend? Absolutely not. It gets two stars for being a clean facility, but that’s about the extent of the positive aspect of this place. Like I said, there are far better assisted living facilities out there, with much better employees as well.
