This location really disappointed me. First they set us at a seat which reeked of mildew. Then we got very little service, the service that we did get was subpar. Then it took 30 minutes to get our food about 5 of which our food just sat there under no heat lamps, just getting cold. After finally getting our food it took another 15 to get our shakes.

I wish I could give ZERO stars. We were seated and then waited 15 minutes! We finally walked out. The table in front of us had water served to them twice and the table behind us were obviously friends of the one waitress as she went back to their table… While passing ours THREE times. We walked out!

I’ve been a steak n shake customer on st. Louis for many years. My wife and i stopped here on the way to Branson for the memorial day weekend. This is by far the best steak n shake i have ever been to. Service was great and i swear the burgers where meatier.

Great burgers (fav in Springfield) good service clean consistent. However they are following what I call the DARDEN GROUP (olive garden red lobster) management style «we don’t want you to come in to are restaurants, want you to leave. »

Normally when I go to this Steak N Shake, it’s because I’m having a late dinner (around midnight) with my grandmother on her way home from work. I haven’t always enjoyed this particular location – nothing is really close to it, although the city is building up the area. The food here is comparable to the Steak N Shake on N. Glenstone. The crowd isn’t as diverse here, but you can check out my comments about that on my N. Glenstone location review.
If you’re cruising 65 and need a fix, this is your place. It’s right off the highway, a million times better than Denny’s, and has a drive through. The night staff is usually fairly friendly as well.
