This is my favorite place in Springfield for good Indian food. They offer a very good lunch buffet 7 days a week. They have the usual Indian fare like Tandoori chicken chicken tikka masala butter chicken but my favorite is the vegetable or chicken korma. They usually offer 2 spicy dishes on the buffet which I love and tend to rotate different menu items. I am always happy when they have palak paneer on the buffet. You always leave knowing you ate way too much.

Best Indian food in Springfield, hands down. I love anything they make with lamb in it.

I would give this place five stars if the quality was consistent and the service was a little better. However, as far as food quality, this is the best Indian place in all of Springfield, MO. I love their garlic naan and chicken tikka masala. The first time I ate here, my naan was burned and still served to me. I’m not one to complain to the kitchen, and I barely saw my server so I couldn’t even bring it to their attention. However, the main dish has always been delicious regardless of what I ordered, so I keep coming back. After all, for that Indian food craving this place does satisfy! The bathrooms are clean, the food is great, and depending on how busy it is, the service can be adequate. But be prepared to speak up if you need service because it isn’t always readily available. For this reason I would suggest leaving the kids at home and making it a date night place– bring the kids their own dinners at home. It can be a pretty intimate setting, and they don’t seem to like kids unless those kids know how to behave well in public. I had no problem receiving my check-in discount the last time I went, which was nice.

Very good but I wish they had more options. Love the naan bread and the butter chicken. Always a favorite whenever I eat Indian food. Overall good experience. Fair price for buffet.

Went with family of 3 and 2 year son gave us a table of 4 on the corner which is to tight to eat . Asked the waiter to give us table of 6 but he refused as the owner was on the phone and rude. We come from 1 hour drive. Have to leave with out eating. So be careful when you go with children’s and the table is small. Their was on one table full

So good! I love Indian food and luckily, it loves me. Met here for Book Club and they reserved us a table for 9 people. It was on a Sunday buffet and super busy, but that’s a good thing! The food was great, the servers were on top of it, and they had some great beers to choose from, both regionally on tap and from Indian in the bottle. I will definitely be back!

This is my first time, but not the last, at Taj Mahal. The staff is efficient, the facility is clean, the food is delicious and the cost is reasonable for the lunch buffet.

Taj Mahal is excellent! I’ve been to India for several months and eaten Indian food in several states. You won’t be disappointed by Taj Mahal. Just try it!

Fantastic lunch buffet! Fresh mixed vegetable curry was delicious! Plenty of chicken options and as a vegan, I had no problems finding food for me. Friendly service. Lots of people there — of all ages and cultures — so clearly this is a winning place for many folks. Suitable for groups, or a quick Saturday lunch solo.

I eat Americanized Indian Food around the U.S. due to my job. Taj Mahal is one of the most affordable and tasty options I’ve had. Friendly staff with a discount after Unilocal check in and quick take out fulfillment . Chicken Tika, Cheese Naan, and rice made my fantasy football draft that much more enjoyable.

This was my first Indian restaurant. We had group of six, two of whom are Indian. They helped us understand everything on the menu and ordered extra food for us to try. Everything I tasted was so flavorful and delicious! I truly loved this place and if I am ever in town again, I will be back!

I am not a huge fan of indian food but a co-worker of mine is. She spent a year in Africa and said that Taj Mahal is as close to it as it gets. I got the chicken curry, which was yummy. The place is clean unlike its competitor Jewel of India on Battlefield. If you’re looking for authentic Indian food in Springfield, this is your bet!

Stopped in for the lunch buffet with the girl. The options on the bar are very good but on the safe side of the menu. The rice was spot on and went with just about every option. Don’t forget to pickup a few pieces of naan. Probably the spiciest dishes on the bar were the vegetarian dishes. I really liked the tikka masala. She liked the curry. Both were flavorful but not super overpowering. If I had one complaint it would be the water. It tasted kind of off but that might be due to the water pitchers they use. Either way its worth a stop for something different. We look forward to coming back and trying the dinner menu.

We have been going to Gem of India for years! But after our last encounter with the owners wife it really left a bad taste in our mouth. How someone could treat a regular that way so we decided to try Taj. We arrived about 5 minutes before opening. There were already quite a few people waiting. What first struck me was how clean everything was. And the buffet was loaded with lot’s of traditional selections. I did however wish that the dishes were a little bit spicier. They seemed to be «dumbed down» for American pallets. The service was also outstanding! Ultra friendly staff who were very attentive on taking plates, and filling glasses«un like the other place.» Also noticed their buffet is only $ 9.99! I didn’t want to start going to a different Indian food place, but I’m glad I did. This will be my new spot for ethnic Indian food with great service!

We were looking for a fun place to chill on a Sunday night and wanted something other than Cashew Chicken. I’ve been there several times for the lunch buffet, but I highly recommend dinner service on the patio. We had Chicken Tikka Masada and Lamb Kebab.

This review is specific to weekday lunch buffet. In summary I’d not recommend eating lunch buffet there. Reasons: Very unbalanced and limited selection of food — no Biriyani, no daal, no white rice, only 1 veg item. Plus all the food tasted similar and had dollops of butter and sour cream. The only thing I liked was the chicken curry. Being an Indian and having eaten indian lunch buffet across 9 states this ranks quite low. I’d give a 2 star but the mango lassi was superb! They either use Alphonso pulp or essence, not the standard mango pulp. With the lassi, we averaged about $ 14 for lunch.

Lunchtime delights abound in this seemingly inconsequential strip mall restaurant. I’m not normally a fan of the buffet, but a huge exception is in order here. It starts with fresh vegetables and fruits to choose from, moves on to the best apps they have(of course naan is terrific), then On toward the entrées. The entrées vary daily and have a wide assortment. There are the typical favorites and always some new things to try. My favorite is that there are always 4 vegetarian options. They also have some pretty swell bottomless chai. If you can’t make it for lunch don’t worry they are also open for dinner sans buffet.

I have to preface this by saying I used to live in Bentonville Ar which has a half dozen Indian restaurants in the vicinity due to the large number of Indian and Pakistani folk that work for Wal-Mart and enjoy their home style comfort food. Compared to the food in Bentonville this food is just okay. While not bad by any means, the flavors seem to run together without much in distinct differences. The butter chicken is fine as is the vindaloo but while good they lack a depth of flavor. The vegetable pakoras are good but what deep fried veggie isnt great? I do like their chutneys especially the tamarind and the onion. I just with they were a little more adventurous on the lunch buffet for those of us that have eaten Indian for quite a while. Anyone remember the old King of India in Springfield? Those guys knew how to spice up a dish good.

Ok fellow Unilocalers, due to your raves, I’ve throughly enjoyed my first supper here! Thanks! The higher quality ingredients, cleanliness of the place & attentive service by no less than 4 lovely staff have me pleasantly satisfied. I corroborate other mentions of the higher prices however, I’ve paid similarly for far less. We took home enough for each of us to enjoy as tomorrow’s lunch! Lamb Korma with medium spice was tender & comforting, both chicken & fish curries with mild spice were devoured by younger kids! Cauliflower naan was worth the recommendation by the owner. My nephew says that he recommends this place to adventurous kids 5& up! We’ll be back!
