Although a bit on the chewy side compared to some of the other pizza options in Springfield, our pie was clearly made with care and tasted amazing. We got it to go, so I can’t address the concerns other reviewers brought up when dining in, but the product itself is very much on par with many of the better pizzerias in town.

First visit, heard about how wonderful the pizza was from several friends. We told the employee at the counter it was our first time and asked how you ordered. Order at the counter, menu is on the wall. Go find a seat and they deliver the food. Pizza is already cooked if you order by the slice, they heat it up. Have to walk by several food coolers to sit, tables were dirty, customer service was poor. Food was decent. Strange experience, eating in, salad is served in to-go container. Nice place if you just want to sit and chat for awhile, no one to disturb you.

First off, holy moly are these pizzas huge! This was kind of a little taste of home, as my favorite place in Buffalo also does NYC style pizza. They have the crust right, the toppings right, and the sauce right. They also have a great selection of beers, so it’s totally reasonable to order one to enjoy while waiting if you order in or place a to go order there… because they kinda don’t rock time management, but like I said, perfect timing to drink a beer. There’s tv to watch the game, but it’s a pretty low key venue and I like to watch Hulu or Netflix when I’m enjoying an 18″ pizza with the fam. So yes! I love this place! It’s basically my new favorite pizza place in Springfield.

My sister went here simply to get a slice of pizza. She has Addison’s Disease, which is recognized as a physical disability. Because of this, she has a service dog who can sense when she is entering an adrenal crisis. The man in charge of the restaurant at the time illegally ordered her out of the restaurant for bringing her service dog into the restaurant. The woman working the counter attempted to physically force her out of the restaurant for the same reason. Whether you have a good product or not is irrelevant. Treating people with basic human dignity is just as important as making a great product. Big Slice not only treats people poorly, they break the law by asking disabled people to leave based on their disability. I will never go to Big Slice again.

Our pizza was burnt on the bottom and greasy on top. If there was a way to adjust the pizza oven where the heat was lower on the bottom and higher on top, l think it would have turned out better. Side salads were a good value, pizza not so much.

True story: I had pizza in the East Village of NYC2 weeks ago at a true NY pizzeria close to St Marks Place. All I could think about was how much better The Big Slice’s pizza was. We are lucky to have this place in our own backyard. Top notch pies and the crust is fantastic! Highly recommended

I have always loved New York style pizza. It was always a bit tough for me to find a good pizza joint in Springfield. I was so happy when I came here to eat. It’s a great place for pizza! Plus they deliver! So on a Saturday night when I’m craving a good slice of pizza, just like the one, I can just put in an order and they will deliver with no extra charge.

I really like the size of their slices which are perfect for ordering one by one. I would say it’s good pizza. I’m still not a huge New York style fan, but this is good food(although it might be a little too salty). I might order a whole pizza next time, as it seems the more economical alternative to buying single slices. Yet, the single slices work well because they are fairly large. However, due to that super thin crust, I still need a couple of them to get my fill.

The staff was super friendly and the prices were good. This place came highly recommended by friends. I got a calzone and it was soggy on the bottom and very greasy. Next time I’ll try the pizza for better luck. The garlic knots are just bread with garlic and Italian seasoning on the outside so nothing special but the price was good and they did the job as we waiting twenty minutes for our calzones.

Yum! Love the garlic knots and marinara sauce. Good pizza and relaxing atmosphere. Parking behind building with rear entrance.

Overall, pretty good. Depending on the time of day or who is cooking back there, ordering pizza by the slice can be iffy. I’ve gotten a few where they seem super fresh and great. A couple times, I feel like it was a bad reheat job in a microwave.(They have premade pizzas they sell by the slice and they just add some more toppings and reheat it.) I think the way to go is to order a whole pizza instead of by the slice. Garlic knots are overrated. Pepperoni wheels are good.

I like getting a slice here. It is like being in New York. They do a nice job here. I like their variety and quality. The crust is a New York style and the right way to eat it is to fold it in half. The garlic white pizza is fantastic! If they read this I wish they would make chicken rolls. The garlic knots are good but I miss the chicken rolls on the lower east side. This is a great lunch stop.

A good place to stop for a quick slice or two. Their thin crust pizza is handmade. Lots off people also enjoy the pepperoni rolls and cinnamon knots.

Big Slice does the classic New York pizza like no one else in Springfield. They not only have the best pizza they are just the greatest friendly staff that you expect and a home owned and operated Pizza Palace. Just try the plain cheese slice first it’s the best tasting in the world!

Best pizza in town. New York style thin crust is perfect and allows the fresh sauce and toppings to come through. My favorite is the plain cheese. Having grown up in the New York metro area this is the kind of pizza I expect. No cheap imitations here! You must try it. I recommend trying a plain cheese by the slice first to set the standard. Add toppings later. Hint: buy more than you will eat the first day. Bake leftovers at 425 in a preheated oven the next day. It comes out perfectly! Do not microwave unless you absolutely have to.

Pretty delicious, convenient, and super affordable. My family got take-out tonight and it was under $ 30 for pizza and salads for four. Not bad! I’ll admit, I’m actually not a huge fan of NY style pizza. This is only an issue because my husband is a New Yorker and thinks that any other style of pizza is, well, not pizza. Sigh. As a result, however, I’ve had way more NY style pizza than I ever wanted and I can say that this place is pretty darn close to the real deal. In fact, the thing that makes this less than totally authentic is the amount of sauce, which I actually prefer. Most NY pizza is way too sparing with the sauce for my taste, but The Big Slice is way more generous. Whew!(I mean, why cut back on the sauce? I’ve never understood it.) I’m partial to their everything pizza(I forget the name, but it has pepperoni, sausage, onions, mushrooms, and peppers). Yum. The pizza by the slice is a great option, too. Be aware that it’ll take them 30+ minutes to get a to-go pizza ready, but be happy that this is because everything’s fresh-baked. Also, the guys there are always super nice. Yay!

My wife and I had lunch here. I am a fan of New York Style Pizza. Reading other reviews gave me an accurate expectation. I bought a whole pizza but only got the 12″. I should have ordered the 18″ to get the full NY Pizza experience. The 12″ is just not big enough to get a good fold. Next time I will get the 18″. The pizza and ingredients were good and fresh. Was brought out to the table very hot and recommend you let it cool a bit before diving in. We got the supreme ruler, and on the 12″, I found there to be too many toppings for that thin crust to handle. It was very greasy, but very good. On a side note, I did not care for the garlic knots at all. They were tough on the outside, doughy on the inside, and just covered with raw garlic and herbs(which most of fell off on the plate). I will definitely return to correct some of my own bad choices. Lol.
