Great food, good prices. Only thing slightly lacking is slow service, but even that’s not too bad.

Atmosphere was inviting from the moment I pulled into the parking lot. Hostess greeted us right away and sat us immediately. Took a few for the waitress to come over as there were other big parties. Hostess came back and took our order. Food came out almost immediately. Portion sizes were bigger than normal. Food was fresh, cooked just right and tasted oh so good! I was even amazed at how delicious the side salad was. Will definitely come back when I’m back in town visiting.

SO good. If you go away from here hungry, nothing will satisfy you! Best catfish and hushpuppies I think I’ve ever had! Priced right. $ 20.00 bought us SO much food and we are BIG eaters! If you are looking for fancy, not for you, but if you are looking for good food This is the place!

What a home-style restaurant should be. I’m not inclined to rave about any one thing as outstanding(except the hospitality!), but everything was good to very good, if a little bland. Had lunch on a Sunday and each meal included white beans, fried okra, slaw(creamy or vinegar), hush puppies and choice of one more side. Onion rings were larger flaky beer battered done just right. Hush puppies on the sweet side, which we like, and perfect golden brown. Steamed veggies were over cooked but edible. Catfish was good but probably farm raised without the wild flavor I prefer. Good crab cakes seemed home made, and clams weren’t over cooked.

My boyfriend and I drive in from Nashville to eat here all the time. The drive is about 45 minutes with no traffic, so that should tell you how much we love this place! He usually gets the all you can eat catfish, and I usually get the 2 whole catfish dinner with fries. Our most recent visit was yesterday, and it was AWESOME(as usual)! The place was packed, but since it’s a pretty big restaurant, the wait was not long at all. Our hostess was nice and our server was even nicer, very friendly, and attentitive. I love the sides(hushpuppies and okra on endless refill)! Today was my first time having dessert. Tried the cheesecake with blueberry topping. The portion size for the dessert was a bit small, but it was really good! This is definitely one of our favorite places to eat!

Always a great meal here. The all you can eat makes this worth the drive every time. This is the only place that I can get the whole catfish, grilled, and fillets. Perfect hush puppies, fried pickles, okra,(lions, tigers, & bears) and today I sampled the cheesecake and caramel pie… oh my! The service and affordable pricing is an added bonus. This will remain a regular spot for me and my family and friends!

The sides are what makes this place so good. Yummy hush puppies that had just the right amount of onion to cut through the crispy corn meal. The fried okra was crispy and not at all soggy in the middle. The vinegar based coleslaw was a bit tart for my taste and the white beans were just ok. I was full before I even got my meal! I ordered 2 catfish fillets with a side of turnip greens. The catfish was fresh and lightly breaded with corn meal. The turnip greens were well turnip greens. A bit bitter with a hint of pork from the bacon it was stewed with. I had to give it a try being from the great white north. At $ 28 for two of us it was a really good deal! I’ll be back for more next time.

Great southern staple(catfish). Whenever my family comes in from NY the catfish house is a must.

The food here is always good even if you don’t eat catfish like me. Servers are attentive but not to the point of being a constant interruption.

First time visiting Tennessee, and our host took us to this place on a Sunday afternoon for lunch. For a party of 7, we waited about 30 minutes. Not too bad. Really loved the fried okra — like really loved it. The vinegary coleslaw was also good. I ordered the blackened cajun catfish, and my buddy who ordered the lemon herb catfish said mine was better. Will definitely hit up this place again if I’m ever back in the area.

Hush puppies were delicious, especially with a small side of honey to dip them in… Catfish itself was acceptable, just slightly overcooked. Service was a tad slow due to the after-church crowd… Overall decent food and reasonable prices. Got the three piece fried catfish dinner and it was enough food.

Ok let me qualify my review before I give it. I’m from Louisiana. So, with that being said, the service at this place is top notch. Some of these chain restaurants need to come over and take notes on how to hire and train a wait staff. Upon initial greeting you receive a bowl of fried okra. Bland. I order the 3 piece catfish dinner with a baked potato. She goes to put my prefer in and while I waited I received a bowl of white beans and a plate of hush puppies. Aside from the fact that I’ve had white beans out of a can before cooked to where it didn’t taste like it came out of a can, their white beans had to have come out of a can and heated up with no additives. Bland. My fish and baked potato comes out, fish, bland. Baked potato was well cooked and came with butter and sour cream. So if you are from Tennessee or anywhere north, you may love this place. If you are from south of TN, save yourself almost 20 bucks a person for 3 pieces of fish and a baked potato and 3 other sides that I didn’t ask for or tasted good at all. Severely over priced. Hope this helped.

I’ve been coming here since 2012 and love this place if you’re looking for some good southern cooking you’ve found it! Great service I had the crab cake dinner with white beans, hush puppies and cole slaw(Mind you it’s a table appetizer that comes with all platters so it’s a very southern touch)

Womens restroom very bad shape, no paper and one stopped up. Never got all our food after asking twice. No drink refills. 2 out of three deserts show up, waitress says she’ll bring it right back then turns and takes orders at other tables. When others are done with their deserts she is flagged down and told not to bring it because we’re ready to leave. She says nothing and another 10 minutes ’till she brings the check. Asked at register how things were, when tried to explain problems lady said she’s one of the better waitresses. No appoligy from anybody after wasting my Friday night and $ 70.00. Ice on the sidewalks people slipping. Never heard of Ice Melt? We loved coming here and now they struck out two times in a row. Something’s wrong with the way it’s run now. Too bad!!! No more of my hard earned bucks

I’ve been eating there since it opened and I’ve never had a bad experience. The food is always really good and everyone who works there is extremely polite. My little boy loves eating there and we eat there at least every other week. He’s been eating their okra since he was 2 years old and loves it. When we go he gets his own bowl of okra and the rest of us get our bowl. He eats the entire bowl by himself every time. Plus his catfish and bake potato. I hope you give the Catfish House a try and have as good of an experience as I have countless times.

Wish they would reopen one in Smyrna, but that should tell you how good they are I drove an hour to eat at the one in Springfield. You can not beat their fried catfish fillets.

It’s still worth the drive. They bring out a bunch of food while you’re waiting for what you ordered to be delivered. We’ve been often enough to have figured out that we prefer the coleslaw made with mayonnaise to the coleslaw made with vinegar. I’ve also discovered that I’m a big fan of their pepper jelly with the okra, white beans and even the hush puppies. My fried catfish was delicious. My wife had the Cajan-grilled scallops and really liked them. My daughter had the Cajun catfish and loved it. I tried it, and it was OK, but I preferred my catfish. None of us left hungry, although we did bring pie home. The chocolate pie was pretty good, but the coconut pie was exceptional.

If you’re looking for the world’s best catfish, look no further: you will find it here, at this family-owned restaurant in the rural town of Springfield, just south of the Kentucky-Tennessee border. In my opinion, you MUST get the all-you-can-eat catfish when you go here. The menu doesn’t lie when it tempts customers with«America’s best grain fed catfish.» Wow! Words fail me when trying to adequately describe the catfish’s perfection here. And to take the meals to another level of perfection, they include all-you-can-eat sides! White bean soup, fries, fresh golden hush puppies… ahh! I wish I could eat forever. My dad isn’t a big fan of eating out, but when he takes my mom out for dinner, this is where they go. They both love it. And, frankly, I don’t see why anyone wouldn’t love this incredible catfish restaurant nestled in the little town of Springfield. It’s worth a drive!
