Looking for a Southside dive? Found it! Cheap drinks, friendly staff, but god forbid the countless hours of karaōke in this place… Anyone, and everyone is welcome here. Jukebox, and a pool table will entertain you. People singing karaōke who think they are rock stars; not so much… A great weekday stop for something other to do then sit and watch Netflix.

The bad first. They have shrunk seating Significantly. Why they have a church pew along a wall is beyond me. Karaōke starts late which is either good or bad depending on how you look at it. Unless you have Been there before you will not find it because their sign isn’t lit. The good news is Johnny runs a good show. Very consistent. Again I will debate the merits of going back. Good drink specials for those on a tight budget.

This is the best little bar in town! Cozy feel and never any trouble. I’ve been going here for over 7 years and dont intend to stop. Great bands on occasion, great karaōke and local singers too.

My kind of vibe, my kind of bar. My husband and I discovered this bar about a year ago but didn’t come much because we were living downtown. Well that has changed, and we can walk to it. We enjoy everything about his bar. You can come in dress clothes or wear your leggings and a hat and no one judges you. The drinks are cheap and the atmosphere is very divey. They have drink specials throughout the week, like 2 dollar bloody marys. They also have GREAT pitcher prices. You can get a pitcher of beer for $ 6.50 and listen to people sing all night. We enjoy stopping by and grabbing some beers on occasion or come in on Sundays and play the touch tunes music with friends. They also have a great outside area to drink or just enjoy the weather. If you’re into playing pool and watching a sports game as well this is your dive bar. Thanks Stepchild for making a place where we can come in and relax!

Friendly staff and cheap drinks. You can’t beat $ 5.50 Bud Light pitchers. However, when we went our beer was flat. :(

I’ve been to Stepchild’s a few times now and I always enjoy myself. Not a huge selection of drinks, but the prices are right. It’s pretty small, but that doesn’t bother me. Wednesday through Friday are Karaōke nights. That’s the main reason to go here. That and the cute girl behind the bar with whom you can flirt and pretend that you have a shot with. My favorite thing about Karaōke here? Two words. Jessi Ridinger. She hosts it on Wednesday and Thursday and if you’re lucky she’ll sing a song or two. That girl can wail. Beyond that almost everyone else is pretty bad, but it’s Karaōke so it’s fun. Watching her bend over the laptop they have the 200000+ song library stored in is nice as well. Final verdict. It’s a good place to go hang out with friends and act a little silly.

I had to revamp this review. This bar has climbed ranks significantly and has become the best bar ever. I’ve made friends with nearly everyone there and I often find excuses to go just«hang out.» This is truly a public house without the pub feel. The owner finds excuses for random parties, offers free food on unspecified days following a successful party, and the staff is about as unique and friendly as fictional story characters. The location feels like the wrong neighborhood, but the bar feels like someone’s house party. Its almost like you’re at your friend’s house while his parents are gone. You know you’re in the right place when you get there. This bar gives A LOT of money to charity and is almost ALWAYS busy. Show up a few times and someone there will remember you. Karaōke most nights of the week and specials every day. Opens early and closes late. No smoking as per the Springfield shit-ban but they have wind shielded porch blinds and lots of company.
