What a great find! Toki Teriyaki is in the same shopping center with Chipotle and Noodles Inc., however you are doing yourself an injustice by passing up on this great quick restaurant. It’s a small modern restaurant and you order from the counter. It’s inexpensive for the quality and quantity of food. I got the Steak and Chicken platter over lettuce(can get rice as well) with 2 veggie sides. The best part is that they put a teriyaki sauce on the meet and you can still sample all of the other sauces which they keep next to the drink station!

This isn’t authentic Japanese or Korean, but it is homemade teriyaki sauce on meat with rice or noodles. It’s pretty tasty. And it’s cheap. And it’s fast. So decide that it’s okay to not have authentic cuisine and enjoy the convenience and flavors. The staff was really nice. I saw the rice bowls came with a side, but there was no mention of a side with the noodle bowl. So, I asked and she said that she would give me one, though they don’t usually come with. I assumed I would get charged a dollar or two, but she just gave it to me. I had the shrimp noodle bowl with spicy sauce. Spicy is not very spicy(think Japanese sense of spice not Korean), but I’m glad I got it over just regular. The sign on the wall says the teriyaki sauce is made with fresh pineapples, oranges and apple, and I believe it. It was a nice consistency — not goopy and thick but thin and coating.

Quick and delicious. Got the chicken & steak bowl with the spicy sauce, brown rice and a side of veggies. Everything was tasty and flavorful. Sriracha sauce was available to kick up the heat. Not a huge menu, but that allows them to focus on quality, IMHO. Glad to find a healthy place to eat in that plaza as an alternative to Chipotle! I’ll be back for sure.

Not bad, not great. I guess some of it is based on what your expectations are when you get here. I wanted a quick inexpensive lunch. $ 11 for a plate of rice, chicken, beef, kimchee, veggies, and a soda. Not really bad I guess. The biggest reason for a 1 star? The food wasn’t really hot and that makes me nervous. The rice was lukewarm, the chicken was lukewarm, and the veggies barely steamed(oh — skip these unless you’re on a diet. I love fresh veggies, but no one should ever cook without SOME kind of seasoning. That’s just crazy. It was like a hospital side dish). The second reason — watching everyone eat behind the line. The cashier with her plate of food on the counter next to where she’s putting my food on the tray. The cook who is wearing a glove on one hand and holding a cleaver in the other — yea, she’s chewing away and I’m guessing whatever went in her mouth wasn’t put there with the hand holding that giant knife! Too much time in kitchens and restaurants working — can’t overlook basic food safety. Probably won’t be back when there is a Panda less than a block away and a Noodles & Co right next door.

I had the chicken teriyaki here and find the portion of the mini bowl enough for one meal. I tried the potato salad and the cucumber and kimchee… and they were all meh. Fried rice wasn’t really fried rice either. It wasn’t mixed or stirfried well enough that it was basically eating white rice.

BIG Taste for a Small Place! Fellow Soldiers, this brings back the taste of Korean BBQ without having to spend a lot of money or time. Quick and inexpensive Japanese and Korean Fusion style BBQ. Totally fresh and wholesome. Great place to grab a quick lunch or dinner without having to spend hours in a restaurant waiting and tipping. Highly recommend for an fresh, authentic taste of Asia. Sure beats take out Chinese Food. Toki leaves your taste buds in state of euphoria not like Chinese food heavy and greasy leaving hungry on after couple of hours. Best Asian fast food ever!

Love the chicken… it’s one of our favorite places in Springfield. The staff knows me by name! When I’m tired of eating at Chipotle, I come to this place and feel right at home.

You know that teriyaki taste we all crave from time to time? Toki Teriyaki gives you that nice salty flavorful teriyaki chicken or beef you crave, without the heaviness and saltiness lingering in your mouth long afterwards that comes due to MSG. If you call in, they will have your order ready when you get there. The staff is friendly and attentive. Great option if you are craving relatively healthy dinner with the taste of teriyaki

Kimchee and Bulgoki first-timer… great place to have your first try, I was sold — now I’ll be in search of the best! The place is very low key, apparently they spend their time, effort and money in satisfying their customers. Very good selection, very helpful staff, great attitudes, clean and tasty. Oh, almost forgot — heck of better meal than McD’s for the the same price. I had the opportunity of trying their Special Steak Bulgoki over Fried Rice with a side of Kimchee for just a few pennies over seven bucks! And it was good. Definitely recommend this new addition to Downtown Springfield! Bön appétit!

I’m loving the new ethnic food stops in nearby Springfield! In the Giant/Kmart plaza, a few ‘somewhat fast food’ joints opened up. Thanks to fellow Unilocalers, who gave this place a good rating, we opted to try them for dinner. They have specials posted on their counter, and the staff is very knowledgable and suggests things to order. It appears to be a combo of Korean/Japanese. I had the Chicken dark meat special with 2 sides… and that meal was made for 2 people, it was so huge. We will definitely return!

I like to get their chicken and steak bowl, with a side of kimchi and a drink, for only $ 7. It’s really a great value. The people there are very nice, and the service is great. And the food itself is actually pretty good! They, of course, have a variety of items on their menu, and I don’t think you can really go wrong with anything you decide to try there.

My husband and I came to check out Toki Teriyaki. They pride in themselves making their teriyaki sauce out of fresh fruit, so it is sweeter than the usual. They offer either plates(comes with 2 sides) or bowls(comes with 1 side); you choose your starch(white rice, brown rice, fried rice) or even salad; your protein(chicken steak, chicken, chicken white meat, steak(ribeye — bulgogi), salmon, or shrimp), your sides(Asian potato salad, slaw, salad, kimchee, cucumbers, veggies, daikon mix, or avocado(which is an extra charge)), and your sauce(gold teriyaki(sweet)), spicy teriyaki(slight kick), or hot red(which is like the bibimbop sauce). They also sell veggie plates, yakitori plates, miso soup, and shrimp and chicken skewers. I had the Steak(ribeye-bulgogi) plate with the Asian potato salad and kimchee, while my husband had the Chicken plate with slaw and dakion(which was just yellow pickled radish/dakwhang). I thought the bulgogi itself was flavorful, and I really liked the juice that sauced up the well-cooked rice; I wasn’t really into the teriyaki as it was just too sweet for me; I think I would opt out of any sauces next time and just stick with the naked version! The kimchi was fermented enough, and the potato salad was just okay. My husband’s chicken was dark meat and it had a nice crispy exterior, but the taste was okay. I did like his slaw as it was nice and refreshing with a creamy Thousand Island-like dressing. Service was friendly, and the portions came in a nice heavy-duty styrofoam(even though we dined in) were plentiful! They offer Pepsi products, and there seemed to be a handful of people doing carry-outs as well. Cute place and good bulgogi! I’m glad I was able to check this place out! :D +great bulgogi +forego the teriyaki sauce!

A new place opened just off the Springfield/Burke border. This place is located in the Trader Joes/Kmart shopping plaza. The woman behind the counter was very personable and descriptive of the various offerings. I ordered the dinner special($ 6.99) which included a chicken and steak bowl and a soda. It was very large for a dinner special of that price. They have various sauce options, and they also serve fresh steamed veggies if you want them. It reminds me of a fast food place for asian cuisine. We will definitely be back.

Always fresh . Good portioned healthy food with excellent costumer service . Either you feel like salmon and shrimp, or beef and chicken they have a unique way to cook, so flavorful and *Teriyakiee.* White and fried rice, noodles and a variety of original side orders. I love Toki.

Their teriyaki sauce is good but with the great Unilocal reviews and the«People Love Us on Unilocal» sticker on their door, I expected something great. The food is good. Don’t take this review on a bad note because it did have a nice flavoring to it. But as a stand alone restaurant, you expect a little more in quality and choices. The choices in food are very limited. You get your basic base of rice, a choice of protein and a very small poor selection of sides. The the choices and feel of this fast food restaurant gave you more of a Mall Food Court quality. The sides are not presented in a flattering way. It’s displayed in the front under small closed containers with opaque tops that the person taking your order needs to lift each top to show you what’s underneath. And with the name«teriyaki» you expect«Japanese sides» however the sides were mostly Korean from korean potato salad to kimchi. The miso soup was bland and watered down. Their teriyaki sauce is delicious. Made from real fruits and not only is it poured on top of your dish they give you an extra side of it as well. I would prefer for their price points to be a little lower considering, it doesn’t seem like more than a mall food court type restaurant. And I’m not quite sure why the price range on here is set at $$$ unless it’s supposed to be a joke because for what you get it’s not truly worth the price you pay. But expect to pay $ 7-$ 11 for a dish.

Not bad, but not all that great either. Service is a bit on the slow side, and the décor is pretty spartan. The food is just okay — steak and chicken taste good, but the side portions are extremely small and taste like they’re out of a bag or box. The gallon bottles of teriyaki sauce on a rack right by the registers doesn’t do much to dissuade me from that impression. Overall, a very so-so, uninspiring experience.

This has fast become a favorite lunch-time stop for me and my co-workers. Really friendly staff and delicious food. It’s quickly prepared yet made to order so everything is fresh. They have unique side options and the portions are generous. My co-workers and I usually save the second half of our Chicken or Steak bowls for dinner.

This place reminds me of west coast eateries specializing in teriyaki-style Asian/Hawaiian food, e.g., Teri Hawaii in Gardena CA, LuLu Hawaiian BBQ, Ono BBQ. I was a bit reticent at first but after reviewing the menu, I ordered two mini-bowls: one steak and one steak/chicken combo. I requested their gold teriyaki sauce(made in-house) on the side so I can taste the quality of the meat without it being hidden or drenched in a sauce. The meats were cooked to order so it was piping hot. I really enjoyed it. It wasn’t greasy or salty. The meat was tender and juicy and were already cut into bite-sized pieces. Their teri sauce was tasty which I used sparingly because I really preferred my meal without it. I also ordered, separate charge of $ 1.70, a side of kimchi; it was nicely chilled, refreshing, had a nice crunch with a mixture of both cabbage and radish, and a nice spicy but not too hot kick. Next time I’ll order the plate lunch which costs about $ 9 and includes two sides. Sides can be a salad, potato salad(Japanese style), kimchi, radish, cucumber salad. Right now they’re running a $ 6.99 special: beef bowl and drink. There are plenty of tables and chairs to eat here. It’s also nicely air conditioned too which is great for having an open kitchen. This is still a fairly new facility so everything still has that brand new look to it. It’s too bad they are tucked in behind Noodles and Co and a sandwich shop because this is a really great concept of fresh, fast, and quality meals at a very reasonable price.
