I came here Tuesday with my boyfriend to look for my dad a birthday present and came out very pleased! Both the people behind the counter were so sweet and incredibly helpful! They didn’t mind that I was basically clueless with what I was looking for and helped me pick out a good scotch for my dad! I was a bit nervous giving it to him because I was worried he wouldn’t like it but he called me a few hours later to tell me how much he love the scotch! I will definatly come back to this specific location because of the service I receive! :]

This particular ABC store is not my favorite. I have been in here twice and both times the person behind the counter has been kind of rude. I would only go in there if I knew exactly what I was going in for because the people behind the counter at this one weren’t very nice when I asked a question.

I’m super happy with this store because after searching, and calling many other stores, this one had the type of alcohol I was looking for. Very good selection of liquors ranging from the lowest of the low shelf (like those ones that are basically part of the floor) to the highest of the high!
Then I got my tequila on! And off came the pants!

All around happy with stores, especially this one — always clean, organized and staff is attentive… just wish they’d have more varied selections as you find in private enterprise stores in non-state run locations outside the Dominion! Prices could be better, considering they have no competition!

I’m guessing that all Virginia ABC stores are similar, and this is the only one that I’ve shopped at so far. But I can say that it has a nice selection and a clean pleasant set up. The prices are what they are (it is a state store). But compared to the taxes in other parts of the metro area there are good. In all the times I’ve been there, there is only one thing I couldn’t find, Żubrówka, but based upon Virginia ABC online catalogues, I don’t think it’s actually available in Virginia. As a whole, it’s good enough that I won’t be looking for another location any time soon.

My second foray into a liquor store run by «the Man» took me to the Virginia ABC Store in Springfield Plaza. Nestled in strip mall just a few stores down from the Trader Joe’s, the ABC store was clean, well lit, and well-stocked with most, if not all, of one’s booze needs. Like the ABC store in Alexandria (and probably every one in the state of Virginia) the selection was great for whiskey/whisky (Bourbon, Scotch, Irish… you name it!), vodka, rum, and gin. It was a bit lacking in cordials and liqueurs. Prices were competitive with those in the District… some higher, some lower… on most products. I didn’t find exactly what I was looking for, but I did find something that would work so I can’t complain too much. Frankly, my only gripe about this ABC store is that, inside and out, it was so generic that I’m surprised they didn’t have bottles of booze with plain white labels that simply read, «Gin», «Rum», or «Vodka».
