I have debated writing this review or not as the hairdresser was friendly and I feel bad about it. However, it has become the worst hair disaster I have ever had. I asked for partial highlights and a cut. However, it seems she didn’t know how to properly do blond highlights or how to blend. I also asked for a bob cut. When she finished coloring and cutting my hair, she decided to curl it. At the time, I thought it was nice of her. But now, I believe it was to cover up the bad haircut and color. Instead of highlighting properly, she bleached large chunks of my head, leaving chunks of dark hair underneath and unblended. It was completely unblended with many streaks of hair completely missed in noticeable places (which became soon apparent once the curls began to fall). In the natural light, I began to notice there was a lot of orange in the blond as well. Other people noticed my hair as well — and not in a good way. Questions like — what happened to your hair? It was rather embarrassing. And then the next morning, when I shampooed and then tried to blow dry and curl my hair — I couldn’t. The cut was sloppy not to mention the overabundance of bleach damaged my hair. There were layers cut all over my head that stripped my already fine hair of any body. Not to mention I can’t actually curl my hair under now because of the unevenness of the cut. I called my aunt who is a hairdresser, sent her a picture and asked for advice. She recommended a dye I needed to use right away to cover up the splotchy look of my hair. So now I have brunette hair (which I don’t look good with) until my hair can recover and I can lighten the color. It was a huge mistake to come here — one that I have to live with for a while. The same place did my sister’s hair too at the same time. Her hair was dyed silver when she asked for blonde with the top of her head not even finished.

This is the best place to get your haircut in Spruce Pine. Ask for Lacey — she is amazing and super quick. I always ask for a basic trim and am constantly surprised by how nice the results are. Lacey has a great eye for layers and tapering and makes a very basic cut look fantastic.
Ionix is pretty small but there are plenty of chairs to sit and wait and everyone that works here moves through customers nice and quickly so you never have to wait long. It is a nice local spot with everything you need for a quick hair salon.
There is plenty of parking in the shopping center lot.
