An all America breakfast at its finest! They do breakfast and only breakfast and that focus allows them to do it very well. Perfect golden brown hash Browns, eggs cooked to perfection and my favorite had to be the raspberry fritter French toast! Yummy! Try the entire menu because it’s amazing!

Slightly above average breakfasts place. I had the eggs Benedict and it was good, slightly better than Perkins. They do use fresh ingredients and they are alway busy. I may try something else but there are not a lot of breakfast places in this area.

I had an appointment nearby on a weekday and was surprised to see that there was a Fat Nat’s location nearby. I have been to their New Hope location once in the past and enjoyed myself there. The restaurant was clean, and the waitress was helpful immediately after opening(at 5:30am). She placed several Start Tribune newspapers on the counter, which I used for reading material. The coffee was delicious, and since I was still quite sleepy I figured I’d go for a big breakfast(the Elmer’s special). The over medium eggs were perfectly cooked, and did not taste greasy at all. The bacon was excellent, perfectly cooked(not too crispy, not too chewy) with wonderful flavor. The hash browns were sadly just average(there was an up-charge), and there was not problem with the toast. However, I found out why they call this the Elmer’s special! After putting butter an syrup on the two large pancakes I noticed that both were quickly absorbed into the stack like a sponge. The cakes tasted a bit on the dry side, without any outstanding flavor(it tasted like they were buckwheat based). They were also extremely heavy and settled into my stomach like glue. I finished the reset of the special but gave up with half of the pancakes left. I had absolutely no desire to get a box and have any more later. I really hate wasting food, but the pancakes gave me no incentive, I was tapped out. This would have been an outstanding breakfast if not for the pancakes, but this left me feeling too full. Perhaps I am a bit biased by preferring light and fluffy cakes, but still, the flavor wasn’t there in such a key breakfast item. I would avoid the pancakes unless that is the only thing you plan on ordering.

Decent food. Don’t get the chile — it’s not chile. The«avocado verde» sauce is pretty gross(mostly cilantro). Other than that, the food was good. Nice hollandaise sauce. My biggest qualm is that the waitresses look like they rolled right out of bed. It’s kind of unappetizing. Also, they seated us right next to the bus station when there where like three window seats open. It seemed like the hostess just didn’t wanna walk all the way there.

I honestly do not know where to start. The wait was almost an hour to be seated. After being seated and having placed our order we had to wait 45 min for cold food to be served to us. After talking to the manager, who claimed to be the owner, we received no compensation for the delay and she talked down to us the whole time. Just a horrible experience and honestly I would eat a fast food breakfast before coming back. What owner argues with a customer? Do they only succeed on one time customers?

Seriously best breakfast place around. Everything is home made and exceeds expectations. Great staff who seem to always be happy and big plates.

Pfft. Best omelette I’ve ever had in my life… and I’ve consumed LOTS of omelettes. I dine here like twice a month and I’ve never had a bad experience.

Excellent home made food. They have generous portions, it’s just freaking delicious. When I got home I let some farts from the heart.

I came here on a Saturday morning for breakfast. From my friend’s recommendation, I ordered the Eggs bacon avocado benedict($ 9). The spicy avocado was a unique and tasty addition to the eggs benedict. They also gave thick slices of bacon. The best part might actually be the American fries for me, which was cooked with such flavor in the potatoes.

Friendly staff and excellent huevos rancheros — I really like the carnitas variety, personally.

7 year old ‘Mikey’(eats anything) complained about his sausage and pancakes. The sausage had a white fatty coating that if properly cooked turns brown. The pancakes required a knife and fork to cut — the fork to hold the rubbery puck in place. Blueberry pancakes were also a chewy, flavorless patty of abused gluten. My biscuits and gravy almost had a decent flavor but the biscuits, like the pancakes, were flavorless with a bad texture. The scrambled ‘eggs’ had the consistency of viscous snot and tasted like tofu. The American fries were actually decent. The shitty food and the service convinced me to never come back. The waitress\barbarian sloshed coffee generally into our mugs, then set them down, dripping, onto the table and the menu. Thankfully she was in a hurry and immediately asked if we were ready to order. Go anywhere else — Perkins is close by and actually better then this noisy joint with crappy food. To the west, Hill Valley Café on Central has much, much better pancakes as does Johnson’s, a bit to the north.

They have more than just eggs. There’s french toast, pancakes, hash browns, and a lunch menu. I had a hot turkey sandwich with mashed potatoes and gravy and it was amazing. We both ordered Diet Coke and they gave us a pitcher. Just wish this place was open for dinner.

Every time I visit my parents, I drive past this place so I was pretty excited to give it a try when Original Pancake House ended up having a three hour wait. I was a little disappointed with my experience but I’m thinking I might give this place another try. I ordered the Avocado Benedict, Blueberry Pancakes, and hash browns with grilled onions. The best part was definitely the hash browns because honestly, who could resist the crispy/buttery/savory/greasy goodness? I was super bummed about the avocado benedict because the avocado verde completely overwhelmed the dish… there is such a thing as too much avocado y’all. The blueberry pancakes were okay, nothing too special other than the fact that they were huge. Service was fine, food came out in a reasonable amount of time, and parking was easy. I am not a general food snob but I am without a doubt a breakfast food snob so I have high standards when it comes to the first meal of the day!!! With that being said, I’ll come back to try their version of a ranch breakfast to give them a fair shot.

My egg salad sandwich tasted like a sugary meat fart. The only reason I gave it one star was because the staff was very friendly & the service was quick.

Eggs Bacon Avocado Benedict. This is my new favorite brunch menu item. It’s that spicy avocado verde salsa and hollandaise sauce that makes this dish so tasty. I also love their green chili sauce that costs $ 2.00 extra but it’s so good I can’t help but order it every single time. Since this location opened in 2012, we’ve been constant regulars, mostly on weekends. Coffee is still fresh, hot and refilled promptly. Tables are still stocked with everything you need, including napkins and extra cutlery which is sometimes a hassle to get replaced during busy peak morning hours.(Which is rather understandable, of course. So their solution to this is just brilliant, really!) Atmosphere is still warm and friendly with a happy bustling feel. Service is still exceptionally good. And I’m still having a really hard time finding better crispy hash browns than Fat Nat’s! It’s the standard by which I tend to judge every other brunch/breakfast joint in this city. Their hash browns are perfect every time, and I always ask for cheese on top($ 1.25 extra) and it arrives deliciously melted and gooey. I always leave feeling full and happy, and sometimes ready for a lazy after-breakfast weekend nap.

Great breakfast restaurant where much of the ingredients are made from scratch. If you like spicy food you will LOVE this place. I don’t otherwise I would have given them five stars.

I like Fat Nat’s fine but my brother is a die hard super fan. They know him by name which I think is pretty funny. Their food has always been good and service is decent. They have a very busy crowd on Sunday mornings but if you get their early enough you will be okay. You can also wait until later since the serve breakfast all day. They have very good alternate breakfast burritos but outside of that, it’s breakfast food. Prices are good for the quality and I do wish we had one closer to Eastside Saint Paul.

Wow. This breakfast is f*cking terrific! Totally skeptical given the blah strip mall setting but the food speaks for its self. The eggs benny with spicy avocado and bacon is unmatched, ordered it half a dozen times now and the eggs are always cooked perfectly. This breakfast is miles above countless«hipper» brunch joints around town. Now if only I could get a bloody mary… Been back a few times and to use a cliché… Fat Nats remains a hidden gem. Sandwiched in a strip mall with a menu that is 50% senior early bird specials type food, you find some of the best Mexican inspired from scratch breakfast dishes in town. Skip the bacon and eggs here and go straight to a speciality«Huevos Rancheros con papas with homemade carnitas!» Yes please! The green sauce is amazing, perfect amount of heat. Please dont change anything.

Yum. Best breakfast in the area, solid service, lots to try on this menu. They now have limited outdoor seating, a good thing bc on the weekend this place is packed! Two words describe Nats: hollandaise and chorizo. You may add large pancakes but that’s two more words! Hollandaise bc they serve lots of egg Benedict versions and chorizo bc many of their dishes feature this tasty and somewhat spicy sausage. It’s mostly a breakfast joint(bfast anytime) but the soup and chicken sandwiches are calling me back for lunch sometime. More updates to follow more meals at Nats.
