OK food, nothing out of the ordinary. but prices are higher than the other diners. I expected little more for the price. I guess if you are one of those all nighters at the casino, you can stop by for a meal.

I wasn’t sure about this place from the reviews that I read but I have to say that I was pleasantly surprised! We were in on a Sunday and it was pretty busy but we were seated right away and the server(can’t remember her name) was attentive and polite. I had the deuces wild breakfast and everything was great crispy bacon, tasty sausage links, which I love and pancakes. My friend got the country fried steak. What a huge piece of meat! he said it was delicious. Portions are generous and the coffee is plentiful. I would recommend for a great breakfast.

I gave two stars instead of just one because I have had a good meal here before but that was certainly not the case this time. Everything was cold. We watched the food arrive to the window but it pretty much just sat there for maybe 10 minutes. To make a long story short, the second time wasn’t much better. I had the Breakfast sandwich that was soggier than a wet sponge. They did comp the meal which was appropriate and appreciated. I will go back. If it’s better I will change my review.

Literally takes forever to get any attention. Waste of time and money.

This is a typical all-night diner that happens to be located inside Ameristar Casino. I came here this past Friday night after a night out on Main Street. We arrived at about 2 am. The service was good, however my eggs were cold when i finally received my food. I’m sure it was because 2 of us ordered breakfast, one ordered a salad with chicken, and another ordered fries, so the kitchen tried to bring all of food at the same time. I’ve been here before a long time ago and I dint engender having a bad experience. But what can you expect from a diner at 2 am? My friend ordered french toast which were huge, but she said that she didn’t like them at all. The prices weren’t bad, as my meal of 2 large pancakes, 2 bacon, 2 sausage, and 2 eggs was under $ 10. Another thing that was strange was that my friend and I both had pork sausage, however her sausage patties were larger and lighter in color than mine. Our other friend even commented on it, asking if she ordered turkey sausage, which she did not.

I really like this place! I’ve had numerous items on the menu, and all have been great! Good quality food, cooked properly, and large portions. The breakfasts here are especially good!

Can I say meh on many levels? The shakes have always been good, but I can never find something on the menu that sounds good. Also, the food has little taste to it. The only reason why I go there is that it is the cheapest option of all the restaurants here. The shakes always are rich and you get a lot for your money, like one full cup and a half a canister too. The cost is another thing. If you are going to charge money around $ 10 or more the food better be at least flavored. No flavor should be less. That’s my feeling about it. Finally there is there the service. I’ve gone when slightly busy and not busy at all and still get the same response. SLOW. It takes a good amount of time to get water, then order, then our food. Sometimes the food doesn’t even taste like it just got done. It tastes like it sits for a little while. I think next time I go to the casino I’ll just go to the Denny’s up the road over going here.

Great food!!! Extremely cheap and hits the spot. I ordered 3 over-easy eggs, corned hash-browns, toast and coffee for only 9.99. The eggs were cooked to perfection, corned hash-browns were the best I’ve had and the toast — as always hard to mess up. The only downside to this place was service, it was slow and kept having to ask for the same thing multiple times. But that is no big deal, that would be the cherry on top of the cake. Im not a big coffee drinker but their coffee was great as well. Highly recommend this spot for breakfast. We stayed at the Ameristar hotel right across from this diner. It was convienient and well worth it.

We ate breakfast here a couple days ago and we were extremely pleased with our experience. It wasn’t busy and we were seated immediately. Our waitress, Deb, was friendly, knowledgeable, and very attentive. The food was delicious and the breakfast was a great value.

First time a few months back it everything was good. This time my meal was good but the waiter took my order right, just the cooks I guess didn’t understand what I was wanting. Just a side of chicken tenders with my duces wild but only got pancakes and eggs ! Momma got French toast and eggs ‚ Toast was good but the meal came out the first time cold and they re made it, she didn’t like the eggs even when they came back out but the French toast was good. And they ended up serving us the meal since the problem, just wanted the tender addition fixed since I didn’t get sausage an bacon on mine. They were really busy and we come here often it USALLY is pretty good service. Even our great waiter and kitchen manager or manager on duty agreed they took care if us

Ordered a peanut butter cup milkshake to go at 4:01. It is the«Shake Of The Day,» per the board out front. There are six other people dining here at the moment. By my count, there are 18 people working. After 10 minutes I ask about the shake. «Oh, they’re just finishing it up.» After 13 minutes, the manager tells me they«have to go to another venue to get the topping for my shake» and would I like something else. I say«fine, vanilla.» At the 17 minute mark, the shake arrives. In fairness, they did refund my money and apologize. And the shake was decent. Still: wow.

If I could give zero stars I would. We waited an hour and 15 minutes for pancakes and French Toast. In that time we got coffee and were only updated one time! When I tried to speak to the manager(who was expediting) to find out what was taking so long she informed the server I needed to wait and would not talk to me. I was completely astonished to be treated so rudely. During this hour and 15 minutes plenty of other people were getting their orders and several people that came in after us had been served and left. I have never been treated so badly. I did not cause a scene just requested my check for the coffee and got our of there not once did the server or management try to talk to us or make right the time we wasted in there… I would not go back to this place if they were paying me to eat here and this is pretty sad because the times we had been here several times before and had good experiences. It’s really sad how a couple bad apples completely ruin a place. This happened on Sunday Feb 23rd, hopefully the people working that morning at 10:30 read this and fire the person responsible!!! I work with the public daily and work never treat anyone this way.

First time eating here, everything came out perfect and quickly. I got a breakfast deal with a side of gravy, delicious gravy! Only thing that could’ve made this experience better is if the staff had better drink knowledge. I asked What mix was used for the bloody Mary’s here and the waitress looked confused. Oh well lower check averages! Other than that it was well worth the visit!

We stopped in for dessert while visiting the casino. We were forgotten… twice. Once when we sat down & got no service. Once after we finally ordered & did not get our food… My shake was finally delivered… melted. I was with friends that kept conversation alive so we were not angry, but over 45 minutes to get melted shake & a couple of slices of pie did not make us happy. We complained & got our desserts for free so they get 2 stars, but not sure if I every want to try again.

All the years I used to go to this casino I never stopped in here so on a trip back we finally went in. And probably won’t be going back. It was ok, just ok. Cute kitchy joint with nice music playing but the food was just so-so. I had the chicken pot pie which was more sauce than ingredients and the peas on the side looked like they had been hanging around the joint for awhile. Hubs’ reuben sandwich was just alright and the prices were reasonable. We should’ve gone out of the casino and down the street to Old St. Charles for some better eats. Wish I had done that.

Came for breakfast. Great service, food came out fast, one son didn’t like their syrup, but my other son thought the grilled cheese was the best he ever had!

Cute diner inside Ameristar so it is easy to get to if you are staying at the hotel or just there to gamble. Great 50’s music. Awesome staff. Huge portions I mean the sandwiches are big enough to feed 2 people. We had a BLT, 2 Philly Cheese Steaks & Turkey Club for the 4 of us and all of us kept ½ for a snack later in the day. Nicely priced. The waitress were running around signing to the songs and were very friendly. The manager was nice and friendly too. The only real issue I had is we went there 2 times for lunch and once in the morning to get coffee and pasteries. The wait on the to go side bakery was 15 mins before anyone noticed us. Then we had to wait for them to make coffee. So a little slow on the to go site but Kudos on the sit down side. The place is a little smokey but then again the whole place is because you can smoke in the casino and the halls the smoke just goes everywhere.

Why include this place? Sure its located INSIDE Ameristar Casino but its comfortable, and relaxing. Just don’t sit in the smoking section and ignore the smoke flying across the room. Nevertheless, the retro décor is clean and well kept. I have never had any major problems with service here. Its usually prompt and polite. I love the wood paneling. It’s a far cry than my Courtesy Diner review. My big RAVE about here is the fried chicken!(not to be confused with their signature chicken fried steak). Their fried chicken is among my top 5 for Fried Chicken(I still like King Edwards the most though). The sides are not much to write about, but the crispy, not too fatty skin, is marvelous as it obscures the juicy, tender meat. It may lack the spices you see on other chicken elsewhere but the quality of the meat and the way its cook has always been done well and consistently. One fried chicken dish is enough to serve two medium sized people so its quite a deal. In fact, most of their dishes are huge FYI. My second RAVE is its open late! Makes sense since Ameristar Casino seems like its open almost 24hrs a day. Therefore, if you have insomnia, live within 5 miles away, its a shorter hop-skip-and-a-jump to St. Charles than it is to they city. I recently tried breakfast here. Some days they have specials that rival the usual offerings. Surprisingly very tasty. Check the specials before ordering. many times they are very similar or the same dish but cheaper price.

Stopped in for lunch while waiting for a friend to get out of the ER down the street. Ordered the Blue Plate Special of the day, fried chicken. It was overcooked, tasteless, and dry… I’ve had better Swanson frozen TV dinners than this, and at least with that I got a dessert treat compartment.
