I love this place and am glad to see that they have opened another location. The food is amazing and when you add in their awesome salsa bar, it takes them over the top. Really awesome!

Got the taco combination that comes with rice and beans. You can mix and match your choice of meet for the 3 tacos, but I chose to go with all carne asada(steak). Steak was good quality with no fat, cooked well and a good seasoning. The salsa bar was a nice touch, and I really enjoyed the salsa verde and the hot tomatillo. And besides those there are a few add on options you can add to your meal. Wish there was a few more salsas to choose from, but the two I mentioned were good. Overall good tacos, and I will be returning to try other items on their menu.

Wonderful food! Juicy tacos for $ 1.00 on Tuesdays! Can’t beat that price. Plus the salsa bar was a great surprise! Can’t wait to go back every Tuesday! Very clean & great service!

Although the directions attached to the Unilocal entry are slightly off, I’m glad I persevered and found it. LOL. I went for lunch and got the steak tacos — yum. Nicely layered. I also got a $ 1 taco(taco tuesday) that was good as well. I will be back.

Three of us came here after a day of day of antiquing at the Kane County Flea Market. I was actually kind of surprised at this place. At first I thought it would be like a Chipotle but it was much more authentic than that. We ordered chips and guacamole, ceviche, a steak burrito and tacos. All were tasty! The guac could have used a bit more salt and lime, but it was good. Actually, the ceviche could have used a little more lime too. The service could improve a little more. I understand people have their off days but you should try super hard to hold back your attitude. Good food, service could be better. I’d stop by to try other items.

Yummy food. I have tried different options here. Love the quesadillas! The salsa bar is a nice treat, although I wish the cups were bigger. The staff is always friendly with high energy.

We moved to the area about 8 months ago. We have tried many Mexican restaurants around and have felt we wasted our time and money. Salsa verde is the first place we went back to. We aren’t looking for a gourmet Mexican place. Everybody we met kept telling us to try this specific restaurant downtown. Looking at the menu and photos told me it wasn’t what we were looking for. Nothing fancy for us. We wanted someplace close to Geneva. We wanted it to be affordable in case we became addicted(we went once a week to our old favorite Mexican place). So what are we looking for that we found at salsa verde? Good chips and salsa. Good tacos. Yummy cheese dip and chips. The margaritas are decent and they have some beer as well bc we like to drink a bit while we nosh on chips. 2 TVs so we can eat and the hubs can watch sports. Lively music, but not too loud. What could make salsa verde better IMO? A more restaurant experience(servers at the table vs a fast food ordering type style), chips and salsa upon being seated at a table and more space. It’s a little tight when all the tables are full. But they win big time for their salsa bar with a variety of salsas and toppings(onions, cilantro etc…). We love to go on taco Tuesdays(half price tacos $ 1/taco) and on Wednesdays when apps are half price.

I went to this place with my friend Greg and Chris. There is one opening near me in Oswego, but I wanted to check it out because I am terrible at waiting. I ordered this plate with like 5 enchaladas on it and it was awesome. Each one has its own sauce and was really great. The mole was even good and didn’t taste like hershey’s syrup. Since my food was all sauced up, I felt like I missed out on the best part. There is a salsa bar with a ton of great salsas. I did get a few and tried them on chips, but would have loved to dump a liter onto my plate. My friend Chris got this metric ton of nachos and he pulled up to the salsa station. There are probably between 8 – 12 salsas, and I think he tried them all. That mountain of cheesy chips smothered with exotic salsas looked so good. Some day I may even be brave enough to order it. Greg is kinda normal so he got tacos and only had like 3 salsas. We spent about 30 minutes enjoying our mexican fiesta, but then I thought we were there past closing time because they were washing the windows and scrubbing the place down. I looked on the door and they still didn’t close for over an hour. They just must really like that place clean. This place was pretty good. I can’t wait until the new location opens by mi casa(spanish!).

Had dinner there for the first time Tuesday evening. I ordered the Enchilada dinner. The dinner came with rice(nice serving) and a teaspoon of lettuce and a quarter teaspoon of sour cream. I also ordered a side of refried beans. I say just add the refried beans to the dinner(it would still cost the same) and don’t be stingy with the lettuce and sour cream. Anyway… The enchiladas were chicken. They were«meh.» Not the greatest. It would be better if the chicken was shredded instead of cut up little square chunks. Not the best but, it gets the job done. LOL

They hit on all cylinders here at Salsa Verde. Came here for taco Tuesday, and was pleasantly surprised. This was my second trip to this restaurant and it gets better with each visit. The food was fresh, and service was quick. Love the fresh salsa bar. All the foods and salsa as were very fresh. You can tell they were made today. Amazing!

My fav new Mexi joint. Once I got passed being upset with this place for serving other people in line behind me, its become my favorite for quality authentic chow. Now that I have discovered the drive-thru in back, no one can cut in front of me! The drive thru service is best & most friendly. Good choices so far: chorizo tacos, chicken quesadiila & don’t forgot to extra of their namesake salsa verde.

We have eaten here many times and have always gotten decent food. This past Saturday my husband brought home several tacos, salsas, guacamole, Queso fundido, etc. First thing we noticed were the stale chips. They were inedible. Next, within hours of being home, the red salsa from the salsa bar started exploding. The lids were popping off from the fermentation! ! EVERYONEGOTSICKINCLUDINGMYKIDS/BABY. I called the very next morning explaining what happened and was promised a call from the owner. Never happened. Needless to say, we will never be back. Yuck

Great find! Perfect for an informal taco stop or when you’re craving a yummy Mexican plate and don’t want to deal with the downtown STC waits and fuss. I loved the Carne a la Mexicana and was pleasantly surprised by their Al Pastor taco, a must for any Mexican establishment. The staff is so friendly and you could tell by the vibes everyone(customers and staff) was happy to be there. The salsa bar is great too, need to try the green salsa.

what a great little find. I was having my tires replaced across the road and decided to give this place a try. Right off the bat, you notice a small food bar set up in the middle of the seating area with different strength salsas and spices. I had the enchiladas mexicanas which features 4 enchiladas with different sauces and fillings and my wife had the Nachos Supremos. The food was readied fairly quickly, and had a good presentation on the plate. And, importantly, it was fresh. I hate wilted lettuce and tomato arrangements, and I didn’t find it here. For the money, it was well worth the scamper across Lincoln Highway. The sides were decent, not too much, not too little. With sodas, the cost was in the low $ 20’s. When back up in the area, I’ll definitely squeeze this place in between Portillos and Gino’s East.
