This is BYFAR our very favorite place for Mexican food. No matter where else we go now, upscale or mid-range price or fast-food, whatever, if we want Mexican then this place cannot be beat. Since I can’t stand hot/spicy, but my husband loves it, this place is perfect, since we can pretty much get whatever suits our preferences. Hope they stay in this location forever!

Taco Fresco is a nice quick-service alternative to pricier Mexican restaurants in the area. The food is of good quality and high in flavor. I love the salsa bar where you can choose the salsa you like! We have had burritos, tacos, tamales and tortas and all have been very good. My only complaint would be that the employees are not friendly or engaging. If they at least smiled and said«thank you» that would go a long way.

I eat at Taco Fresco regularly. The food is fresh and tastes great. It’s reasonably priced and the service is good. I highly recommend the guacamole tacos with a side of black beans. Very yummy!

We were in the neighborhood and saw this place and noticed it had decent ratings. So we stopped in, we both had steak burritos with sour cream and gauc. The burrito was good ! We also ordered a tamale, hands down I would have to say the best tamales I have had in a LONG time ! They do have a nice salsa bar, gotta try the Jalapeño salsa and the Salsa Rojos, hands down the best salsa. The service is great ! The food was so good I got 3 pork, 3 chicken tamales and a pint of the Jalapeño salsa and Salsa rojos to take home, and lets say they are all gone. So if you are in the neighborhood and want a great burrito or taco, give this place a try, you will not be disappointed !

Too bad these guys relocated away from the Geneva Commons. The food here is real good as is the service. You’ll get a decent size plate of tasty freshly prepared Mexican food. I’ve always had the grilled marinated chicken, beans and rice deal that comes with sour cream and some avocado on the side. Its so good I rarely try anything else but when I have its been good. The light crispy chips and flavorful salsa are excellent. If your not in the mood for spending $ 100 for skimpy tacos in down town Geneva then give Taco Fresco a visit

Am I in the Twilight Zone? I can’t believe this place has any positive reviews at all. This is hands down some of the worse Mexican food I have ever eaten. Seriously horrible, reheated, could-care-less food. The guy who compared this to Bien Trucha… stop. Just stop. I have my own issues with BT, but to even compare this food to theirs is insanity.

If you are dying for Mexican, simply drive up State Street to its intersection with Randall Road to Taco Fresco, one of a small chain of great taco places. The tacos, including options for shrimp, talapia, etc., are exactly like you would get at Bien Trucha(the fancy restaurant in the touristy section of Geneva) – and I mean, exactly. At Bien Trucha, three of them, served on a wooden plank, will cost you $ 14. At Taco Fresco in St. Charles(technically, that end of State Street is St Charles; check it out on Unilocal), will cost you $ 7(but, alas, will be served on a traditional plate, not a wooden plank). Taco Fresco is a real utensils, real plate place, yet you order at the counter, they bring the meal to you, it has a salsa bar with little cups for you to get your own salsas, free drink refills, and you do not bus your own table at the end of the meal. Every table is by a window. If there is a knock, it is that the workers – all of them – are sourpusses. They never smile, they are not engaging, and it truly affects their business. If they want more business, be friendlier. I am not the only one to say this – I have heard this from others. All in all, a great place for a healthy meal. Definitely has a different taste and texture than Chipotle, which is also good but gets to be tired after a few dinings; when that happens, do try Taco Fresco for a change.

Well, we all know I am a huge Mexican food fan. This place is great. Consistent, friendly, quality, and dare I say«Whole food healthy». The gentlemen who own and run this local spot work hard to ensure the food is prepared to a standard. Although this is a chain it still has a slight owner proprietor feel to it and I like that. The restaurant is clean and the food is tasty. Best of all it is fast. The prices aren’t much more than its fast food competition but you get healthier tasty food that you can recognize to be real meat, veg, ect. If you haven’t give them a try before you go to the competition.

Just decent. I’d say the food quality is about the same as chipotle. Service was good. Ordered take out from here and it only took about 10 minutes. Overall a great place to grab a quick bite to eat.

I have been going here since the beginning when it was in the Commons. Their new location has much better parking and its in a great location. The staff is friendly and the food is good. The décor is nice and the place has always been very clean.

I love this place. It seems I find my way into Taco Fresco at least once a week, and on many occasions it’s two or three times per week. I honestly struggle to drive by the place without stopping, even when I am planning on dining elsewhere. The draw here for me is: 1. The salsa bar — offering about 6 – 8 different salsas with a variety of heat or mildness(I go for the hottest one… the«Gordo» salsa) 2. Price — I rarely spend more than $ 10 here, or $ 18 or so if I go with my wife. You order at a counter and they bring it to your table when it’s done cooking. 3. Consistency — My food is always as good as the last time. I don’t find that there are days when the chicken is bad, or the steak is grisly. 4. Cleanliness — It looks like they clean the place several times per day. This is a very clean restaurant. 5. Variety — Big menu and a lot of items to choose from. I have personally had their burritos, fajitas and nachos. All are top notch and leave me wanting for more. My wife loves their tilapia tacos and claims to have an addiction to them. Seeing as how I can barely hold my dining there to only once per week, and usually end up there two or three times, and love it every time, this place absolutely deserves a five star rating. I’ve sent many a person here, and all have come back raving.

Delicious grilled vegetable burritos! I went to the old location a few times and was kind of sad to see it go, so I’m glad they reopened in STC and it seems just as good as it was before. I haven’t tried too many things from the menu because I really love their grilled veggie burrito, so that’s what I usually get. My coworkers and I used to get carry-out from here sometimes and everyone was always happy with their lunch. We also like all the salsa options! It’s a good option for when you want Mexican food that’s pretty fast and inexpensive, but at least a little healthier and higher quality than some fast-food restaurants. I think it’s a good deal.

Food is good, fast and continually consistent. Menu is not that broad, but they have many good sauces and a good spread of import beers to douse your palate with. Enjoy

Pam and I love the Fish Tacos. This week we found out that Rosie the dog likes the Fish Tacos as well! We stop by here anytime we can, usually on the way to ISU to visit with our daughter.

If your at the Geneva Commons and you need some food to raise the blood sugar from getting to low this is can be a quick remedy. It’s not that the food isn’t very good it’s just the service could be improved a little bit and they’re trying to be all healthy and that gets rid of the flavor. I like my Mexican food authentic and tasting the way it does as if I was in Mexico. That’s just my personal opinion. If I want health food I’l eat a salad.

Cheap, fast, somewhat healthy Mexican food with a self-serve salsa bar? Sign me up! I like that they have nutritional info on the website for some of their items… I feel like I can get my Mexican fix without completely killing my diet. If you’re not watching the waist, try their quesadillas. I particularly like the fresh tomato, onion, and cilantro quesadilla. Good rice, too!
