Royal St. Cloud Golf Links

Accidently arriving 90 minutes early because our Resort was closer than we realized we wondered what we would do to kill time. We checked in any way and told the starter we would be willing to go early if a space became available. We headed to the sandwich shop on the side of the pro shop for a breakfast of bacon, egg & cheese biscuits. We were surprised by the quality of the food. And even though we brought our own bottled water the server was kind enough to give us two large cups of ice.
The starter saw us ready to eat and said we could follow a foursome that had just left for the first White tees. We excitedly grabbed the biscuits and (to our delight) headed to tee off an hour earlier than expected.
I don’t know how they do it. These three distinctive courses get plenty of play both from locals and visitors. The fact that it’s one price for all probably makes tourists feel welcome. Still, with all that play, the courses are in spectacular condition. The greens keepers are wizards: lush fairways, groomed bunkers and velvety greens… oh, and very wet water!
Maybe it’s all the signs reminding you, in a lighthearted way, to fill divots and repair ball marks. Seems that most people do! I’m always proud to repair a ball mark, must mean I made a decent shot. PLAY IT, YOU’LL LIKE IT!!!

Great course at a great value. It is my home course so I am kind of biased but I play many other courses in the area and there is no better overall value.

We played the white and red course today from the gold tee for Brooke and Doug, and the cooper tees for me. It was a very good round for all.
I would recommend this golf course everyday and twice in Sunday’s.
Make sure you check the great items in the pro shop, lots for great deals.

So, clearly 2 stars is «I’ve experienced better.» and I have. Booked online and showed up 30 min early to hit balls. No one to greet us, no carts available, no balls in the automated ball dropper.
Over all, not a friendly course or not at least today. Place was crowded and over crowded most of the place. Over 5 hours to play this course with rangers around not moving anyone along is not worth it. if you have rangers, use them and make it better for all.
Not worth the price you would pay to play other places.
Maybe a bad day on their part, it was foggy this morning, but not worth the hassle of a 5 hours plus round on an average course.

On hand in their bar! They think its a night club but they must barely be breaking even at the bar with all the crap they keep there that no one drinks. The purchasing manager must not have a clue…

Many of our friends told us we had to play golf at Royal St. Cloud. So we did. One of the fun things about this course is it has many really different features. They also have pretty good wildlife in the area and some places with heavy native grasses. We spotted many birds on the course while playing. It’s quite picturesque.
There were places where the course was being maintained but mostly we were well away from any equipment for most of the round.
The course is in pretty good condition. It has good rates especially midweek.
I really liked the restaurant at the club house – really good food, nice french dip.
The course was fairly open when we played and moved well.

This is a great course and the staff is extremely friendly. The practice facilities are second to none.
The only negative issue with the course is it is often overbooked in the winter. A 6 hour plus round is not uncommon at all. Due to the very affordable rates the course attracts alot of «beginner» players and this is NOT a beginner course. So if you get behind one of these foursomes, or two or three of them, you may wait 40 minutes + to tee off on a hole, as happened to us a few weeks back. Also, remember that beginners also don’t know what repairing a ball mark means so be prepared for greens that are difficult, if not impossible to read.
It IS a great course and facility but a bit lacking in on course control by management.

It is a true links style course. Very natural. I especially liked the red 9. They set it up like this:
Red 9 — Scottish style
White 9 — Irish style
Blue 9 — English style
It is definitely more of a shot placement course as opposed to the bomber style. Fairways are mostly tight, there’s lots of wind, few trees but lots of high grass. Unless you are very accurate bring some extra balls as I lost more there than at TPC Sawgrass. Also, the greens are a bit hard. If you hit a low shot land it on the fringe short of the green. It is a good value.
There are three main issues I have with it.
1 — There is no course layout, gps in cart, or diagrams to go by. If you haven’t played there before you may have no idea where the hole goes. This is especially an issue on the red 9.
2 — While it is way out in the boonies it still gets lots of noise from surrounding neighborhoods and farms. I’m more of a muni type player and it was even a lot for me.
3 — No course marshal. Just a starter. We got behind some yahoo giving his girlfriend lessons as they played and replaying several shots. We asked them to move it along but they ignored us. I had to call the pro shop to get them to send someone out to resolve it. By this time there were two foursomes of us waiting for them to tee off on a hole. I should have called earlier but I kept waiting for a marshal.
Some other picky issues. Very few yardage markers and pins w/​o the reflectors so my rangefinder had issues beyond 180yds.

A great day on a beautiful course. Restaurant was excellent.

With a lot of really great golf in the area that can command hefty greens fees, this links course has tremendous bang for the buck. We snagged an early-​bird tee time for under $ 50 a person (riding). The entire course was in phenomenal condition, especially the greens. No dead grass, puddles, or blemishes. It’s a nice tough course too with a lot of water and some REALLY long par 5’s.
Being out-​of-​towners, we also rented a couple sets of clubs for $ 25 each, but I was a bit disappointed by the off-​brand rentals. The other times I’ve rented clubs, I’ve been treated to a nice Taylor Made or Nike set, but not this time. Also, we only saw the beverage cart once on our trip, but stocking up at the clubhouse at the turn remedied the 10am drink shortage.

27 Holes of British style play… I enjoyed! I’ve been here about 3 times already although it’s wayyy out in St. Cloud (at least 30 mins from Orlando). The White and Blue courses (9 holes each) are the original course. It’s moderately difficult but does provide some wide open holes as well as some narrow ones. The Red course (or the death course) is the newer set of 9 holes which I believe is super tough. It’s very narrow and when I make a tee time, I ensure that I avoid the Red!
I’ve also been to a wedding here. The outside veranda is pretty nice and they provided umbrellas during the hot summer wedding which I attended. The banquet hall isn’t huge but can handle 120 people I think. All in all I was impressed.
Only complaint is the distance the club is from Orlando. It’s quite a drive if I want to play there.
If you golf, at the turn, get a sandwich with the pretzel roll bun! It’s AMAZING!

A magnificent facility with 27 holes of links style play (there are even London phone booths for ordering your food at the turns). Staff is extremely friendly and easy to talk with. I play a lot of golf, and the practice facility is one of the best I’ve seen. Up to 80 yards on the chipping and 4 putting greens. Full range and even lights for night-​time hitting and putting.
