Checked in. Checked right out… bed bugs! They didn’t seem to concerned when we told them

Very clean, quiet and AWESOMEWORKOUTROOM! The hotel isn’t walking distance to Taylor’s falls, but that turned out to be okay as we decided to venture up to one of the nearby lakes for dinner. The room is a king with a pullout couch– perfect for my mom and I plus the two kids we brought along. Pool is a great temperature for playing and also big. Same with the hot tub. It’s a little thing– but the hotel posted reviews in the area that named them and we used these posters to plan our next day. Worked slick!

I used my 5,000 points(best rate was $ 130/night) for last Friday when we started our vacation to Bayfield, WI. St. Croix Falls was new to us both and Holiday Inn Express was easy to find on Highway 8. Check-in was easy and it was nice to have warm cookies at the front desk. Plus, we got upgraded to 1 king deluxe with separate bedroom and living room with TV in each room. My fiancée enjoyed the white chocolate cookie since we didn’t really have dinner when we left after work. We then drove to downtown for Indian food at The Vegetarian. Afterwards, we decided to visit Dragonfly Winery which was behind the hotel. Well, I am so relieved that we stayed here instead of Spooner since this is just 1 hour drive on Friday afternoon. Otherwise, we would have to drive for 2 – 3 hours… Pool was nice size and the hot tub. I quickly dipped in the hot tub and then went upstairs to watch Jurrasic Park together. Beds were super comfortable but shower was a little frustrating to get decent stream. Fan setting was not ideal as I had stuffy nose but maybe just didn’t find the right one. The next day, I went to the gym which was gigantic. Equipment was bit dated but still worked. Plus, there is a sauna as well. Breakfast was much better than I expected. I had raisin bran, scrambled eggs, vegetarian sausage, greek yogurt(yes, this is new as I saw this in OKCHIE), and watermelon(oh my god, it was nice to have something besides fruit cocktail). Also, I tried out some applesauce in the fridge which was good. My fiancée tried out the make-yourself pancakes which she said it was good. After breakfast, we packed quickly and checkout was smooth. Overall, the best HIE since I have stayed since Woodbury HIE when I stayed for business trip.

We stayed here for two nights as a quick family getaway from Minneapolis to see the fall colors in the Taylors Falls area with my husband and two young children. First, the front desk staff was incredibly kind and helpful – I don’t know that I have ever had such courteous and excellent service at a hotel. The people In Taylors Falls in general were so friendly and we absolutely loved the small-town, friendly feel here. It was very apparent we were out of the big city. The hotel is clean, neat and updated. It has a very comfortable feel, and the room was rather luxurious with a spacious bathroom area, kitchenette, granite countertops, two televisions and two separate sleeping areas(one for us, one for the kids). We had a suite. Our bed was extremely comfortable and good quality. The kids slept on a sleeper sofa. The pool area is wonderful, and the breakfast area is spacious and you can use it anytime during the day. We used it in the evening to celebrate a birthday, and we had a few guests come. The hotel is very laid back and we felt welcome and comfortable having our little birthday party in the breakfast area. The only downside to our visit here was that there was a really loud party in the pool area, and they were drinking beers and eating in the pool, which was unpleasant for us. They were eventually asked to leave, and the staff handled the situation well.

Stayed here for 3 nights in August. I was so impressed with everything! From the comfortable beds to the spread of FREE breakfast in the morning to the awesome fitness room, I was so comfortable and relaxed the entire time we were at the hotel. Sure, it’s nothing fancy but it was a great place to come back to and relax at after a long day. If I’m back in St. Croix, you better believe I’m staying here!

This is our«Cabin Up North», and we have been visiting five or six times a year since 2004. The service and staff at SCFHIX are outstanding, and make it just a wonderful place to come and relax. It truly feels like our second home.

I remember as a kid sitting in the back of our 1976 lavender AMC Hornet Sportabout(hey I’m not braggin, these are just the facts) during many a family vacations. I was usually squished between the dented and scratched green Coleman cooler and my older brother Martin’s sweaty feet. I would day dream out the window and imagine the next motel my folks would pick. Please, please, please be a Holiday Inn I would pray to the hospitatlity gods. Lo and behold, early in the trip, with credit cards not maxed out yet, I would see the big green sign complete with Holidome… ahhhh and the angels would sing. Long story short. Rickie and I stayed at this Holiday Inn Express in St. Croix Falls for the Dollison(yee haw) family reunion. Clean room. Midwest(ahh shucks) folks, nicer than nice, behind the desk. Price was right. Continental breakfast included. Only prob for me was just too many dang kids. YIKES… they were freakin everywhere. But two thumbs up for a comfy stay at a familiar and nostalgic venue.
