I discovered The Vegetarian by accident while searching for an alternative to the fast food places around my hotel. Now I make it a stop each time I am in the area. I’m working my way through the menu and have not been disappointed so far. Of course I always order the garlic nan.

I did my study abroad in India. This was fantastic. Some of the best I’ve been able to find in the U.S. The staff was awesome and encoirnment was really nice as well.

This is my go to restaurant whenever I’m visiting my family in the area. The food is consistently non point each and every time. The owner himself is heavily involve with the service and cooking, and it shows. Never had a bad dish here! I live in Atlanta, but specifically carve out time at this place every trip.

— too cheap behavior and poor order taking be very careful to finish your meal within given Every single time been less and less impressed with quantity(quality is good) — the side dishes for dosa etc(dam at and chutney are VERY limited portions) — so you have to make sure you finish within — else you will be charged extra!

This place never disappoints. The service from the owners is just to die for. Fast, friendly, and with vegan options for most dishes. This place is small, but don’t let that turn you away.

We have been to the restaurant several times now and think this is the best restaurant in town. Excellent, authentic Indian cuisine. The dosas are superb and the street food items are as well. The owner is a super nice fellow. Highly recommended.

Totally disappointed. My daughter ordered the Marsala dosa(which is a crêpe«stuffed» with potato and onions)!and it was completely empty except for 2 little bites of potatoes… No onion. It was basically just an empty crêpe. The owner microwaved some potatoes with no apologies. It was $ 11.00 for the dish and my daughter didn’t end up eating it and they didn’t offer another option or a discount.

OMG, this place is probably the best Indian food since I can remember. It is not a buffet style which I am most familiar with. We ordered a taster plate as appetizer, nan, avial, and malai kofta. We loved all the dishes and it was nice to see a single chef make everything from scratch. Last Friday night was not busy so it was fine with waiter and 2 other kitchen staff helping with serving meals. We also tried the rice pudding which was also very good. Spiciness seemed to be right on. My dish was mild(avial) which she had the medium spice(malai kofta). Overall, we would come back here again in a heartbeat.

The food is nice but I have my concerns. Being an Indian I prefer to eat the food I ordered and I am ok if its not the same but tastes exceedingly awesome and that’s why the 4 star. We ordered Samosas which are good and then an online chilli uthappam but were served an onion chilli dosa which was good too but I do not know if they do not understand the difference

Found a needle in the haystack — food and service was excellent. We had a variety of dishes and shared and it was all so flavorful and tasty. Started with Paneer Pakora, then shared Malai Kofta, Vegetable Curry, Palak Paneer — all delicious. Our daughter had Masla Dosa and just scarfed it down. Finished dinner with Ladoo and Gulab Jamun. You must not miss this place — worth the drive!

So we planned a trip to Duluth and thought to stop by Taylor falls. After our scenic boat tour which there is nothing to comment about, decided to have our lunch here after all the great reviews about the place. The place is fairly decent and the menu was a delight to us, to see both south and north Indian dishes on it. As the name says they are vegetarian completely and my company loved it as she hates joints here which limits her choices. We ordered a batura, garlic naan, malai kofta and shahi paneer. The entrees did came with a portion of pulao rice. It might look the quantity of entrees that came was less, but its definitely not. The garlic naan was an ecstasy and batura, I haven’t had one like this, ever. The baturas in India is usually a big sized poori however it was different here. Different and awesome, I would say. It was soft, puffy and did I forgot to say ‘yummy’. Malai kofta and the shahi paneer is not the usual Americanized creamy gravy you get in Indian joints but were absolutely good. The pulao rice was average though and it was odd to notice that, as it was a little orange colored. May be its the saffron, but definitely average. Also one thing to mention is that they are poorly staffed. There was just one old waitress and the chef I believe. So you got to be patient in the table to wait for the service and as we were not in a hurry, it didn’t much bother us. We will visit there again for sure.

I had no idea I would find the best Indian food in Wisconsin/Minnesota area in St. Croix Falls! It seemed like I was transported back to my mom’s kitchen in India! SO tasty and such nice ingredients! Ans they make their gulab jamun from the scratch!

Such a great place! 3 generations of a great family were there working. The food was amazing. A perfect gem in a cool town. I had a spicy okra dish and it was delicious. I’ll be back next time I’m in the area.

Can not express enough how delightful the food was. The flavor. The presentation. All was amazing. Great beer selection also. Our waitress Peggy was fun. Got a chance to speak with the owner and he is a character… In the best possible way. Highly recommended.

Great food of South ad North India, good prices and friendly service. The Avial and dosas are favorites. The chef makes appearances and mingles with the guests. :-)

A carnivore couple wanted to shake it up a bit and try some Indian cuisine. Turns out many of the Indian options in the twin cities are also vegetarian. Yeesh, I don’t have these incisors for carrots! Well this place is close to home and we were bent on trying Indian for the first time. Totally blown away. Five stars if lamb or chicken was in the menu. What can I say? Tiger, stripes, all that We will definitely be back. Nits: too darn quiet. Needs some tunes so I don’t feel like I’m eavesdropping. Cost was $ 65 with tip. Ordered: Cashew nut roll — I hate to be cliché but the flavors absolutely burst in your mouth. Garlic nan — prefect Myore dosa — decedent, delicious, damn big. Wife wasn’t thrilled with the soup accompaniment, I liked it. Shahi paneer — prepared medium plus for spiciness. Could have been just a hair spicier for this(mostly) Norwegian. A hit of flavor that makes my mouth water two days later thinking about it. Two beers, Potosi Cave ale and New Belgium 1554. Darn reasonable selection for a small place One riesling wine, unsure on brand. Go there, expand your palate.

This place is an absolute gem! The dosas are light, crispy, and stuffed with delicious fillings, and the staff are simply delightful. The naan is downright heavenly — superbly crispy outside and decadently chewy within. They also have a nice selection of menu items for people not accustomed to Indian food. Great beer list too.

We ate here to celebrate my sister’s birthday, who is a vegetarian. This place blew us all away – it was absolutely incredible. The food was out of this world for vegetarians and non-vegetarians alike. We did not miss the meat at all! The staff were so friendly and courteous and made us feel welcome and comfortable. They also helped us navigate the extensive and amazing menu, which can be slightly overwhelming to first-timers. The only downside to the place is that it was a little on the unclean side. The tables and menus were not quite as clean as I would have liked.

Love this place. The owner is awesome to talk to and the food is always great. This is Indian food. The owner is Indian and is a 4 star chef. The menu is set, but ask and he might make you something if you can describe it. Very Friendly, we always meet someone interesting to talk to when there. Can’t say enough good about this place.
