This will be a 3-for-1 review, covering the Soulstice Theatre, and two shows I saw there: «Neil’s Dirty Shorts» and«Who Killed Santa?» The main reason I was at Soulstice Theatre was to see«Who Killed Santa?» so my 5 stars is specifically for that show. I’ve never heard of the Soulstice Theatre and I’ve lived in Milwaukee my entire life. It’s located in a residential area in a building that looks like a warehouse or manufacturing facility and consists of several suites. Soulstice Theatre is in suite #2. Inside the theatre facility, is a small bar, a lounge area and a small auditorium. To be honest, it was actually nicer than I was expecting. The first show I saw was«Neil’s Dirty Shorts,» a series of 6 short plays covering topics like dealing with a cable company, which may have been my favorite of the 6. The first two plays left me concerned about the remaining 4 being equally disappointing, but they picked up and provided some type of entertainment. The day ended strong with«Who Killed Santa?» A play/musical where the actors use large puppets featuring Rudolph, Frosty, Tiny Tim, and«Steve» the Little Drummer Boy. Essentially, someone kills Santa(the title gives that away, not me), and we don’t know who. The audience gets to participate in deciding who they think it was and the play ends based on that decision, so there are different ways for the show to go at that point. My face muscles were sore when I left because I either smiled or laughed during the entire show! The actors did an excellent job with voices and emotions and singing! The lyrics of various well-known Christmas carols were changed to fit the scenario of the moment. The songs were amusing and well-executed. The shows run though the end of December. You should see both to support local artists, but if you can only pick one, make it «Who Killed Santa?» You MUST see«Who Killed Santa?»! I am so glad I did and it will be on my radar to see again in the future. NOTE: These two shows contain adult content and language, so leave the kids with a sitter. Get information at or

Soulstice is more than just a community theatre. The productions are very poignant and usually carry some sort of message. It’s a great space at the Marian Center. The auditorium is perfect for musicals and bigger productions, while the studio theater gives the audience the chance to literally be up close and personal with the actors. The theater also gives some of the proceeds to a different charity every show, so it makes you feel good about the price of the ticket(which is very reasonable). One of my favorite theater groups in town!
