We had a great time on New Years Eve at Go Fish. We would recommend it to all our friends.

Go Fish was incredible. I had coached on a Soccer Camp in St Helena, and the owner’s son was on our camp. We were treated to a meal as a thank you and wow. We had everything we could get our hands on and it was all fantastics. I am very saddened to find it has been renovated and changed — hence no listing of favorites. Such a shame.

I was not a big fan of Go Fish, so not heart broken to drive by this weekend and see that it has closed and is now Brassica. Apparently it’s still a Cindy Pawlcyn endeavor. I always like Cindy’s Backstreet Kitchen… so I’m hopeful that this new mediterranean restaurant will leave a better taste in my mouth than Go Fish did.

I especially like sitting out back on the patio, a bunch more casual back there. The seafood is great here, one of my favorites is the Black Cod.

This is the one of the only choices for a real seafood(non-sushi) place in the valley. The outdoor patio is lovely and ideal for groups or for a nice date meal. The service was not up to par with the rest of the Napa-area restaurants, but it was okay. The calamari was way too salty and my bass was a little salty, too. Really excellent black cod, though! And great wine list. I probably wouldn’t go back.

We had a truly superb lunch here for my husband’s birthday a couple of weeks ago. We came in at an odd hour — 3pm, I think. We literally had the place to ourselves for quite a while, which made me a bit uncomfortable, as the restaurant borders on the vast. There were people eating in the garden — but inside, it was dead. VERY nice hostess and waiter(Daniel). Hubby had the crab Louie(very good — not huge, but extremely high quality fresh crab). I had the salmon burger, and it was memorably delicious. We ordered Frank Family chard by the glass — probably my favorite Napa chardonnay. Because it was a birthday, we both ordered dessert(I know, I know — I already feel guilty enough!) He had the affogato, which was, of course, excellent. I had the key lime tarte… Not sure what made me order it — but holy lord, did I fall into a slice of heaven. If I could have that recipe, I would kiss the pastry chef’s feet. And lo and behold, the waiter comped the desserts because he overheard us talking about the birthday. What a guy!

I was really looking forward to some Sushi while I was in Napa. My PIC on this trip was not a sushi person, so after reading various reviews, this place seemed like a great option as there was a sushi bar as well as many american/asian cooked options. Much to my surprise, when we got to Go Fish and I asked for a Sushi menu, we were informed that as of one week prior, they were no longer serving sushi and were changing the restaurant concept to be one not of Asian fusion, but of straight American contemporary fare. :( Although there was a ceviche appetizer that I ultimately ended up with as my dinner, It was heavy on the shrimp, which I am not crazy about. The saving grace of this place for me was the Key Lime Tart. Truly the best key lime pie/tart I have had in my life… very very tart, perfect texture, not at all gelatinous. Unfortunately, it had an almond crust(I have a nut allergy) which I ate around. 4 stars for ambiance, 3 stars for dinner, 10 for the key lime tart :)

Went in for late lunch/early dinner after tasting all afternoon. Napa was 95 degrees on Sunday, Go Fish was just the right place for us before heading back to the City. Went to a Cabernet cook-off at Catherine Hall in the spring and enjoyed amazing lamb burgers(they should have won!!). Was pretty sure that they were from Go Fish, but they weren’t on the menu. Instead I ordered an amazing burger w/onion strings. Just what I was hoping for, juicy burger cooked to perfection with crispy onion strings. My friends had fish tacos: really good guacamole and toppings she reports. Her husband had the hangar steak: perfectly cooked to medium rare but it was salty. They must have seasoned it before it was served? We stared out with oysters both raw and cooked. They were sweet and fresh. On the way home we were still talking about them, shoulda had more! The server told us the restaurant will be having a total renovation in the upcoming months. The menu and interiors will be Mediterranean themed… hmmm

Personal bias: I’m not sure you can go wrong at Go Fish! I went with the Ms. for Napa weekend of wine and good meals when we decided it was time to try this eating establishment. We had already had lunch at its sister restaurant, Mustards Grill and figured this had to be equally good. We were not disappointed. We began with the usual suspects of libations: my party mixed it up with wine(Go Fish has good win selection) and martini’s. After receiving our drinks, the very inebriated women sitting in the booth next to me said: «Here’s a tip for you: ask for your olives on the side!» «What?» I replied. She said, «I got one word for you: volume! You want as much alcohol as you possible can!» Apparently she had plenty of it! Needless to say, my martini would have made James Bond proud! The table kept the eclectic theme going throughout the night with a mix of sushi, seafood pasta, and a roasted banana –rum ice cream sandwich that is so good it will make you want to slap your mama! Be forewarned: The place gets busy and they may offer you seating outside with a heat lamp. Don’t be fooled! While it is true that they have heat lamps, unless it’s the Summer, it’s too cold to eat outside! Enjoy!

Had a real bummer of a lunch here today. My fish & chips were soggy and greasy and the mixed green and herb salad needed seasoning. The matchstick fries were very good. My husband’s salmon burger was beyond overcooked. Service at the bar was fine but nothing special. The bartender was busy making mostly espresso drinks and wasn’t real engaging when I asked a few questions.

This place has great fish, great service and a very pleasant dining atmosphere. It’s all done just right. If you’re near St. Helena, you really can’t go wrong by eating here. They get docked a star because I have had poor service one time. I think our waiter was new.

We went to Go Fish for dinner today and had a great experience. I was with my husband, mother-in-law and my daughter who is 10 months old. They were more than accommodating for my daughter and had a high chair accessible and brought over bread right away for her to munch on. To start with we had delicious miso soup, which was homemade. Then for dinner we had the fish and chips, spicy sushi platter and the seafood risotto. I asked for some substitutions in my seafood risotto and they were more than happy to make that happen. The fish and chips was delicious according to my mother-in-law, the fish and chips was delicious, and the seafood risotto was excellent. It came with a huge piece of Mahi on top! And my husband said that the sushi platter was the best he had ever had, which is a high complement since he frequently eats sushis in different cities around the U.S. To top it off, we had a great server who was engaging with my daughter and took the time to explain the entire menu and provide recommendations. Would definitely recommend and would go again. Go and you won’t be disappointed. Also, to note. We went to Bouchon the night before and I would go to this place over Bouchon any day!

Ok Now objectively I would have given 4 stars, but since this restaurant changed my life I’m going for the full 5. On a trip to Napa Valley I went to dinner here with 8 friends. I ordered the filet in a mushroom sauce, which was great. However, I decided to be adventurous and try a piece of sushi on my girlfriend’s plate. Now I’ve had Sushi before and NEVER like it. This time ZING! I couldn’t even believe it. I was so disbelieving that I came back for lunch a couple days later and told the sushi chef about my experience and he tailored a 25 dollar sushi plate(about six pieces and a roll) to me as a newbie. I destroyed it. So damn good. I’m a convert! GOFISH!

Had a wonderful lunch here! I ordered the California roll, which is made with real snow crab and the miso-marinated cod over rice cake. The cod was marinated for 3 days. Best fish I’ve had in a while! Waiter was very attentive and also allowed my friend and I to split by dividing and giving it to us on two plates. Definitely would go back! Nice outdoor sitting that faces a vineyard and of course, the beautiful Napa Valley.

I think the term associated on this site for a two-star rating is perfect: «Meh. I’ve experienced better.» The wait for our food was too long. The place was not that busy, so this seemed odd. But the worst part was the food itself. Not horrible. Not bad. Just not good either. Uninspiring. Boring. Average. All that would be okay, if the prices were in line with what was served. WAY over-priced for average sushi. Everyone at our table agreed.

Maybe it happened to be that we were just unlucky, but our experience at Go Fish wasn’t pleasing. The three of us ordered the Fish Tacos, Fish and Chips, and the Tuna Reuben. I ordered the Tuna Reuben, expecting a Tuna sandwich that has tuna full cooked, but because of my inexperience with the names of dishes and what is supposed to be in it, I was in for a surprise– the sandwich contained a big hunk of tuna that was barely cooked! Just a tiny thin layer of cooked tuna on the edges and that was it. My cousin informed me that usually this kind of tuna should have a thin layer of raw tuna in the middle. I tried my best to eat the tuna, but it was just too difficult to taste the rawness– yes, i’m not a fan of raw food unless they are seasoned to perfection. In this case, the tuna wasn’t seasoned very well. Fish tacos were delicious, but weren’t seasoned enough. The fish was very fresh though! Fish and chips had fish that weren’t seasoned enough either, but maybe it’s because we didn’t add salt to our own desire. Spicy tuna roll wasn’t spicy enough as I would like it to be. Good portions

A great restaurant for 3 reasons: –Quality of produce –Atmosphere/Service –Plating I always come here during my trips to the wine country and not once has Go Fish disappointed. This is a great place for brunch(cocktails are up to par) and one of my favorites for dinner(also good for groups). To be honest, not many restaurants can pull off Asian-Fusion on an upscale, tasteful level… At Go Fish, they make it work. If you’re in the area, I would also recommend Mustard Seed Café for lunch. SALUD!

Went on a Saturday night for a birthday dinner for 6(after visiting 4 wineries). Easy 15 minute drive from Calistoga. Prompt seating, excellent and attentive wait staff. Started with a very hearty miso(almost a meal in itself — excellent mushrooms). 7 fish Hamachi and Toro plate, and Spicy Tuna was typical bay area sushi, but Spider(soft shell crab) and Crispy Spicy were out of this world. Miso Marinated Black Cod was delicious. We splurged and tried deserts — Lime Tart, Banana Ice Cream Sandwich(wow!), and Double Chocolate Crème Brulee(yikes — no more chocolate crème brulees) We brought along two amazing bottles of wine from our day, and there were NOCORKAGE fees. Thank you Cindy! Only disappointment was the matre ‘d didn’t remember that is was a BIRTHDAY and bring out a little cake or something. It was ironic that we went to Cindy’s BackStreet Kitchen for lunch(St. Helena) and didn’t know that Cindy owned both. Well done — we are looking forward to Cindy’s Mustard Grill next time up north.

I’m rating this purely on a group dinner. Our party of 20-ish were seated at the back of the restaurant near the kitchen, with one long table and one round smaller table. We had pre-ordered plates of sushi, which came out pretty quickly right after our pre-ordered edamame and miso soup. Now, the miso soup was the funkiest miso I had ever seen and some of the Japanese-from-Japan at our table didn’t touch it. Since I’ll try anything, it actually didn’t taste that bad. They just used different mushrooms and ingredients. Anyway, all the sushi and rolls I ordered were awesome. We had a mix of most things from their sushi menu and everything was fresh and well-prepared. To supplement those who weren’t sushi-crazy or wanted more food, some ordered a chicken entrée or the crab louie and I heard both were great. The servers were attentive and we never felt we didn’t have a server when we needed one. This is definitely the place to go in Napa if you ever have a sushi craving. They also own Mustards Grill further south on the 29.
