Warning: no public restrooms. Mulled spice wine was really good. The rest of the wines were decent. Cute shop with lots to look at and the staff was friendly. Credit card machine was down which she didn’t tell us until we started our tasting. Thankfully we had our checkbook.

Downtown St. Joes, tucked in a strip mall. Greeted by Abe. Let the tasting commence! All their wines were pretty good & they let you try their ice wine with your tasting… That’s huge! Many trinkets for you to gaze at while you’re drinking too. Not a bad spot!

The boy and I came here over Labor Day weekend. We selected the tasting and while it was good, the wine just wasn’t for me. Customer service was nice. But in terms of view and taste, I would suggest Contessa winery.

Never had I ever had less wine to taste. It seemed like our pourer was overly stingy with her samples. The white wines were better than the Reds. Overall, good atmosphere.

This was an amazing stop on a bachelorette weekend. Lee was a great guide through our wines and tailored them to each of ours tastes. Make sure to ask Lee about his life story! We had an amazing time and each went home with a bottle of their amazing wine!

Came in here right before the Reindog parade as this was one of the few dog-friendly places in town. Hubby, Corgi, and I decided to check the place out and get away from the cold for a bit. I did one of the wine tastings, and found out that they also sell wines by the glass there. The lady helping me was very nice and knowledgeable, and their prices were very reasonable. We walked out with a bottle of wine as well as one of their mulled wine spice packets, and we’ll definitely be coming back again the next time we’re downtown!

I’m not a wine drinker by choice. But my wife and I stopped in and had a great time. The ladies were very helpful and knowledgeable. We tried several samples and ended up buying a couple bottles. When we are back in St. Joseph, we will definitely be stopping there again.

My boyfriend and I stopped here on a whim while making our way from Michigan back to Iowa. It was great to not be on a set schedule and we are very happy we stopped here! It was located in a very cute area of town with shops and places to eat, we walked in and I was immediately drawn to all the shiny things!(wine bottle stoppers, bottle charms, wine keys and other gift items.) Then we moved towards the back to get on to the good part :) The two women there were so nice and knowledgeable. They were easy to talk to. I forgot their names though… but kudos to them both. I liked how the wines were already set up into little tasting flights! Made it wasy to choose. They also had the«Ice Wine» that I wanted to try– although I knew it would be much to sweet to drink a lot of it. Anyways to cut to the chase we liked everything we tried. We got a bottle of red and white wine and a new wine key. The owner has done a great job at making classic wines true to the style they are supposed to be made in. If that makes sense? We weren’t bombarded by fruit wines here that were overly sweet. We will most definately stop there again if we are in the area. PS– we were able to try some sangria made with white wine… I wish I could have bottled that! So good!

My favorite thing to do in St Joe is wine tasting at a White Pines Winery! They-are so welcoming to all, even dogs! This place is worth the stop! And if you love Icewine they have one oh the best around.

After going to a few wineries in Harbor Country the day before, we thought these wines blew all of those out of the water. All of them that we tasted were so flavorful and tasty, we wish we had spent all our money here! The server was very knowledgeable about the wines and gave us a lot of great info. It was a little pricey for the bottles but it is worth it because they were just so good!

This was a perfect stop on our drive from Grand Rapids to Chicago. We’re from California and have been visiting dozens of time. Both my fiancé and I love the wine. The staff were polite and welcoming. We really enjoyed the tasting. We ordered 6 bottles and had them shipped back home. Every time we’ve open a bottle our guests loved it. When we run out we will be ordering more.

We needed to spend a day out of the sun so we ventured to St. Joe for some wine tasting. This cute little wine shop was located on the main strip. A wine tasting is $ 5 and they waive that if you buy a bottle. I was actually really impressed with their wine(though I must admit my expectations were very low) and we ended up bringing home a bottle. The woman who helped us was very sweet and helped us choose our selections by listening to what we liked and didn’t like. The tasting portions were VERY small, but it was still nice.

White Pine Winery is a tasting room located on the main street of the quaint beach town of St. Joseph, Michigan. My parents have a lake home in downtown so my husband and I venture over there every now in then to visit and vacation. This past weekend was one of those weekends. We stopped into White Pine Winery on a whim because we had an hour wait for dinner at a local restaurant. Not only did they let us come in 20 minutes after their schedule closing time, but they let us bring in our puppy(we have a small 10 lb toy breed but still!) The owner was inside and talked in length with my husband about wine, grapes, the process, etc. I would like to say my husband and I are becoming wine afficionados. We have wine club memberships at 5+ wineries, a wine cellar with over 500 bottles and have made trips wine tasting throughout Michigan, Illinois, California and Europe. The tasting itself was wonderful. The wines(especially the whites) were fantastic and at such an amazing price point, we bought several bottles. The four of us(my parents did the tasting as well) had a fantastic time and we will definitely be back. P. s. Tastings are free if you just sample a few and five dollars if you want to do a full tasting selection, but that $ 5 is waived if you buy a bottle(which you should!)

Good stop along the way to Traverse City. Five dollar tastings a person or FREE if you buy a bottle. Duh. We bought two bottles! A tasting is in flight form with six samples each. He stuck with all whites. I did country traditional of white and reds mixed. It’s a nice establishment.

The Syrah was deliciously complex and oaky. If you like sweet wine my friend said the Ice Wine was great. The ladies working there were very nice and knowledgable. The wine tasting was free since I bought a bottle. The only negative was the tasting samples were quite small. All around a nice place to stop in, relax, and sip some wine.

While in Michigan for work, a friend from Chicago and I decided to meet up in St Joseph and while there thought why not check out this wine tasting room. Part of my draw was that I had no idea MI had wineries and that it was even possible b/c of the weather. Well, we weren’t sure if we were going to make it in time but when I called they were super nice and said they would stay open past their regular hours for us if we couldn’t get their before closing. I was able to get their before they closed but just barely and my friend was going to be about 30 minutes late and they were okay with that. As someone else said, the owner was very enthusiastic so sometimes the sommelier would have to wait before telling us about the wine we were trying but it was great to hear him talk. I ended up buying their reserve Riesling and a Merlot. I normally don’t care for Merlot’s but this one had a very unique flavor that I liked. Plus, I was extremely surprised that MI could even make a good red especially since VA, which is warmer has weak reds

So glad we walked in! My husband and I were visiting St. Joseph MI and decided to take a stroll downtown. I noticed a «wine tasting» sign and had to go in. We were immediately welcomed by friendly staff. We decided to try a variety of their wines and they were splendid indeed. With every pour, we got a little information about the wine and the best ways to pair it with food. The staff was very knowledgeable and enthusiastic about sharing their insight. If you love wine and are in the neighborhood, stop by… you will be happy that you did.

This winery is a great example of Michigan wine. They play to the strengths of the region, including bottling an Ice Wine which takes advantage of frozen grapes. I usually drink red wine but at White Pine, I preferred the whites. I think the Michigan grapes are more suited for them. Everyone’s palate is different, so it is great they give you the opportunity to sample all(about) 10 of them. The wine tasting was $ 5, which is waived if you buy a bottle of wine. The bottles range from $ 10.99 to $ 24.99 so there is something for everyone.

The White Pine Winery tasting room in downtown St. Joseph is a must-see. When stopping by, I was helped by the owner, Dave, was very enthusiastic and passionate speaking about his wine… and for good reason. The unique factor I really enjoyed about White Pine is that they embrace the varietals that do well in Michigan. While you won’t see a heavy, big bodied California-style chardonnay on the list, you’ll find multiple rieslings, white blends, lighter red blends, etc. Their wine is the perfect representation of what Michigan wines are all about. While I tasted almost every one of their selections, the White Pine Pinot Grigio and Reserve Riesling were up there with the best Michigan wines I’ve ever had. Having grown up in Michigan, that’s saying something! The sweetness of the wine was refreshing, not over-bearing, and didn’t overpower the other tasting notes – perfect for hot summer days. In terms of cost, tasting is only $ 5. But that can be applied to the purchase of a bottle, so my trip only set me back ~$ 30 – $ 15 for a bottle of Pinot Grigio, $ 15 for a bottle of the Reserve Riesling.
