I took advantage of a Living Social deal for a/c checkup. Jae(the owner) and 2 other guys came out, arrived 15mins early, checked the outside unit(everything was fine), he checked the registers inside(again, everything fine). I brought up possibly doing a zone system and let him check out the ductwork. Unfortunately it’s not built to add zoning, but he did show me how to close off some dampers in the downstairs ducts to push more cold air upstairs(since you are not supposed to close the actual vents). 4 stars in my book, I will be using them again!

The owner came over and kept talking about how he’s an honest business person(first off, if you have to say it, you’re not it). I read online that I could fix my A/C by switching the power off and turn it back on. My stupid mistake that I didn’t try it, bc that’s what the problem was, and the owner told me it was the capacitor, $ 140. Thanks for the new piece I guess. Then he decides to tell me that I have zero refrigerant in my A/C, and condescendingly showed me the gauge and acted like he knew what he was talking about in front of my wife. 10 minutes later, we have power. And we have refrigerant now. He made some excuses about the gauge being new(sure). BUT, we are very very low, and we need to get more in there ASAP. After I told him that we don’t want more refrigerant(bc I absolutely don’t trust him at this point), he cons my wife into buying behind my back. Then it turns out he doesn’t even have it on him. Wow.
