Food is good… But service is a joke. We reserved a table over a month before and then confirmed that we could have outdoor seating the week before. We were called the day of and told that oops no you can’t. She advised if we wanted an outside table we should arrive at 5 for a 730 reservation. When I was annoyed, she laughed. Good service, Annette. Message received, Scape. We won’t be back! It’s a shame because it was our go to in the neighborhood… We even had our wedding brunch there! Alas, never again.

I’ve never been here for dinner, but Sunday brunch is great. The mini crème filled donuts are a great way to start. I wish I could order dozens of these. The eggs Benedict are perfectly poached every time. The French Toast is also a great choice for a sweeter dish. The mimosas and Bloody Mary bar make for a great lazy Sunday.

The chicken and waffles were good but the Hanna foster crêpe was rather heavy and felt more like a pool of syrup and noodles than a crêpe. Overall it was an okay experience.

This review is for appetizers only. WHATHAPPENEDSCAPE!!! We have been coming here on and off for eight years. I have always loved the menu and the food on it. Last night, someone dropped the ball. Majordomo started with the gazpacho and I went with the shrimp cocktail. His soup was good and I thought my shrimp were okay. They were huge. The problem was a little bit of a fishy smell. Now I know they are fish, but they should not have had a smell to them. Our next course was the worst. Majordomo got the smoked chicken flatbread and I ordered the bone marrow. The chimichurri and charred crostini(French bread) were very tasty. There was one bone and it had a tablespoon of bone marrow in it. And for $ 14.00, I would have been embarrassed to serve that to anyone. Thank heaven there were three slices of bread so that I could fill up on that. Unfortunately my phone died before I could take a picture of the dish. Everyone would be appalled. Majordomo was so disappointed in the smoked chicken flatbread. Not the topping, but the dough itself. It was so hard to chew and it wasn’t burnt. We don’t understand what happened. Would I come back here? I’m sure I will but I’m going to have to give it several months before I do.

The one thing I miss about St Louis is scape! The steak is always so good and tender and seasoned. The atmosphere is always great and the service is impeccable.

Didn’t care for the waiter or hostess who didn’t tell us about the Mother’s Day special buffet. We ended up paying $ 60 per plate for the buffet and we were not given the information before hand. Nothing is worse than getting a $ 170 check for two people unexpectedly. The buffet was decent and the coffee was ok. With so many other choices in town for brunch I don’t see why I should come back here.

Went yesterday(Saturday) at 5:30pm. Used the valet which was perfect since its a busy neighborhood and parking is tough. Place was very classy. Jenny was great, very helpful and kind. Ordered blackened shrimps for entrée. They were nice. Had a caesar salad and then the scallops(wow). My girl ordered the salmon(wow). We had a bottle of pinot grigio(real good). Fine atmosphere with good fast service. Pricey so be ready. Loved it.

Just because a place has high prices for their food, doesn’t mean it’s good. I would never crave nor recommend someone to come to Scape. Not one dish stuck out to me, and I tried 5 different dishes. We had the scallops, monkfish and chips, the salmon, the macadamia nut chicken, and the kampachi semi crudo app, as well as the Brussel sprouts. Nothing was good, I would say it tasted below mediocre. So bland, not creative in flavor, and just boring. Not one person liked their food at my table. I truly wanted to love this place, I can’t stress that enough. Heard good things about it, and was extremely disappointed. Maybe this place is just known more for its brunch rather than dinner??? Now, I’m not from St. Louis, I’m from LA where I’ve had some of the best of the best. So, honestly maybe I’m spoiled. But realistically good food is good food no matter where you are. And this sadly wasn’t even close to being good. –also why are you playing bad 90’s Rock at dinner? The atmosphere doesn’t make sense. They have a mirror podium with a menu written on it… that isn’t even their menu with euro prices?(Not that any of this matters when it comes to food, I just felt like this restaurant didn’t know who they were. No sense of identity) Long story short, just go to Taste if you want delicious food worth some money, with an amazing atmosphere. The whole experience is delicious. **also, I will give Scape the benefit of the doubt… I believe they’re hiring several new chefs. So hopefully they will give this place a new identity of flavor as well as creativity.**

It has been a while since I’ve been here for brunch. Sadly, the brunch has lost its shine. I was«welcomed» by a less than enthusiastic hostess which is a buzzkill from the start. I was sad to find out that Kaldi’s coffee is no longer served along with the chicken sausage. I had the biscuits and gravy and was disappointed; biscuits okay, not enough gravy. Wait time for food for 3 was about 45 minutes with a half filled restaurant. Scape use to excel at brunch with limited options in St. Louis, but it appears that other restaurants are setting the bar higher in St. Louis and offering better quality, service, and value.

I visited Scape for the first time, today. First of all, the place is really aesthetically pleasing and the staff was friendly. In gorgeous weather I totally recommend sitting outside. There is a lounge area, a few high tops, an outside bar and seating for dining. The peach Bellini was amazing — my California Benedict, not so much. The menu indicated it was crab cakes, avocado and hollandaise. It was actually served with guacamole. I LOVE avocados yet hate guac. I think even if I loved guac, it still would have been a miss for me in this dish. The waitress even admitted that it usually comes with avocado and the new chef was changing things up. I say, if it isn’t broken, don’t fix it. Lastly, the crab cake was more stuffing than crab. I didn’t even consume half of my dish and I’m currently nursing a tummy ache. Other dishes that I saw coming out of the kitchen looked amazing. Today was just not my day. I will definitely be back and hopefully can update the review with more stars.

what an amazing expierence! I cannot stop telling everyone about my new favorite restaurant. It has absolutely everything you want in a spot. The food was spot on, everything was fresh and cooked perfectly. Definitely the best crepes I have ever had, stawberry and nutella and enough left over for a midnight snack(they were just as good reheated and that never happens). I of course stole a bite of my husbands food and he’s lucky I left him anything. It seems like the menu was so well thought out, and even just reading the descriptions made me want to try everything! I already knwo what I’m getting for my next 3 visits. There is a great little patio and it just felt so comfortable to be there. I could hang out there all day! There is nothing better than eating in the sunshine but the inside looked comfortable and no rainy day will stop me from making a trip to Scape. The service was right on target with everything else we expierenced this first visit. Every question I had was answered in a polite/knowledgable way. I never felt like I was bother to our server with my questions and he seemed just as excited to tell me about the new menu and the whole place. Aparently they were voted #1 brunch in St. Louis, and I am not surprised. You can tell when people are excited to go to work and there was no fakeness of someone just trying to earn a tip, the whole staff was polite, well groomed(I know it shouldnt be a thing but I hate seeing servers with food spills or messy hair, or shirt not quite tucked in correctly), and seemed to be having fun. The manager did stop by and she also seemed to really care that we were having a good time and were not in need of anything the whole visit. I would go back in a heartbeat, I would reccommend it to everyone I know(and kind of already have), I will enjoy myself next week (when we already have reservations). Thanks Scape, keep up the good work!

Scape provides an eclectic variety of brunch and dinner items in a well-lit space, with an ambiance that manages to perfectly balance casual and upscale. Of particular excellent are the servers and bartenders, and the delightful succulent plant arrangements adorning the restaurant’s large and abundant windows. I’ll definitely be back!

Food and service are a solid four here, but docking it a star because the ambiance is stuck in the 80’s(mirrored ceilings and strange looking light fixtures with orange bulbs) and the music is too too loud(and annoying, at least the night we were there). Went at 8 pm on Valentine’s Day. We liked our waiter Dylan a lot — he didn’t steer us wrong with the Mahi Mahi and Chilean Sea Bass specials. They were both delicious, although the Sea Bass at $ 40 was more expensive than I would have expected. Their Caesar salad was fine, not memorable. Their French Onion soup was good, but a little too dense with onion and bread.

I love Scape. In the heart of the Central West End, Scape is one of the best restaurants around. America style bistro, with an upscale vibe and excellent food — you really can’t go wrong. Not to mention, on nice nights the back patio is a great place to relax and feel like you are in a bigger city. I was just with a few friends at Scape and we all had the same thing: the market salad and the sea bass. The sea bass was prepared perfectly and the portion amount was just right. The salad was also delicious — with apples and bleu cheese on top. I had my rehearsal dinner for my wedding at Scape, as well as my sister. The BBQ and Mediterranean food at Scape is fantastic. Don’t forget to try their Mother’s Day Brunch… it will blow your mind. The meats that they BBQ outside on the back patio are just incredible. Brunch at Scape is also a place to try — bloody mary’s and eggs always make for the best afternoon!

I have dined at Scape for dinner and brunch. The restaurant’s interior is very fancy, service is fine, and the food is ok, but overpriced. I have tasted better chicken, tuna, and pasta entrees at other STL restaurants for less. At brunch, I ordered the California Eggs Benedict. For $ 19, I was not expecting such a small/mediocre dish and dry/overly salted potatoes. The friends that I went with were also underwhelmed by their dishes. As much as I enjoyed the atmosphere at Scape, I don’t think I can justify spending this much on dinner/brunch when I know there are better and/or cheaper places in town.

Food was good however service was beyond Terrible(Jeff)!! We waited 45 min for bread was charged $ 8 more for our mood even though the menu clearly stated a different price. Our waiter never came over to fill our drinks or even acknowledge the service. I have been here several times and was very disappointed … #poor service!

I went with my boyfriend for New Year’s Eve and was very pleasantly surprised. I have never eaten out at a decent restaurant for New Year’s because, having worked in fine dining for awhile, I know that the food and service on this day is typically less impressive than every other day of the year(except Valentines Day). Given that, we had incredible steak, a delicious cheesy artichoke, some decent other appetizers(tuna tacos and duck spring rolls), great desserts(banana cream pie and salted caramel gelato) and IMPECCABLE service. The salad wasn’t super, but all in all was a great dining experience.

First time at Scape. Came on recommendation of a colleague. Had one of best meals of all my visits to STL(which are quite frequent). Meat platter and cheese platter were our table starters. I had the sea bass special which was off the charts — roasted on top of celery purée with leeks. Waiter paired it with a delicious Chardonnay. One of other colleagues had the roasted mushroom risotto — incredible. Dessert was just as crazy with red velvet cake bread pudding and their banana cream pie — with as much as I eat out when visiting this one is going to be a frequent visit ! Cheers

Yea, not impressed. I came here on a Friday night with a group of friends for the first time. I was excited to try this place as I’ve heard good things. Our waiter was really awesome and friendly. He seemed informed on all the dishes and specials of the night. That night I had the market special risotto and a caeser salad. It was decent, but not that great. In the future if I plan to spend that much on food/restaurant outings I’d go somewhere else in the area.

My previous review was for brunch, this one is for dinner. I love the fact that they have valet parking. You really need this in the CWE. They also have a private dining room downstairs for dinner meetings, rehearsal dinners, etc. We were able to walk in and get seats at the bar where Melissa took our drink orders and gave us menus. Bread and cracker bread was brought out with three spreads — butter, bean and olive tapenade. I also like the fact that they have a seasonal menu. Nice and fresh. We miss the shrimp cocktail that was on the menu, but perhaps that is seasonal. Mike started with a fig and roasted beet salad and I ordered the mussels. The salad was nice and fresh and tasty. I wish I had remembered to take a picture of my mussels because it was a huge bowl, big enough to share. They were good also and the broth was quite tasty. Dinner consisted of the bistro steak for me and the roasted chicken for Mike. When I looked over at him, his plate was already clean. My steak was cooked the way I ordered and came with Brussel sprouts and cheesy potatoes. My steak was wonderful. I did not try the Brussel sprouts and the potatoes were ok. Diced potatoes mixed with cheese and a little bacon baked in a ramekin with cheese melted on top. The melted cheese was really good. For dessert, banana cream pie. Very good but the crust was real thick. Of course I would come back here.

LOVELOVELOVE brunch here! Everything we’ve tried here(2 visits for breakfast) has been on-point and delectable. «Yummy» is the word that sums it up. Ambiance & Atmosphere is casual with a hint of upscale. I would have given a 5 star review, however we’re yet to encounter a friendly server

Went here for brunch this morning and I was impressed by the atmosphere my waiter not the best but he tried! We had mimosas I feel it’s Sunday a mimosa shouldn’t be more than 7 and or have a bottomless deal going on! I ordered the goat cheese omelet it was good. My guy ordered CWE eh and he wasn’t impressed! Just an FYI! The coffee was amazing! They only had one tv showing the game so I took points of! But all in all I was mediocrely impressed!

In from out of town and picking a place to meet my sister and her husband(also in from out of town). We wanted something nice but not ridiculously fancy. Unilocal FTW. Scape was fantastic. We had the seasonal peach salad(california), kale salad, crab cakes, salmon(alaska), chicken, and my wife had a risotto. Everything was fresh, well-prepared, and delicious. Wine and cocktails were all righteous too. Slight dings: The service was good if not quite phenomenal, as I had to wave down our server to order a glass of wine at one point. The ambiance was very nice, although slightly schizophrenic with lighting fixtures from random different decades and styles that didn’t seem to have been thought through. Still, it was a wonderful evening and a five-star delight.

I was looking for the best brunch in St. Louis and I think I found it. First, the few negatives: the complimentary bismarck to start was just okay, the sangria was pretty bad, and the just peachy drink was okay. But for the positives: best eggs benedict I ever had… perfect poached eggs; delicious hollandaise not too thick or thin; bacon was awesome; and s/o had the chicken & waffles, which he said was amazing and it did look as such. Service was pretty good. We had made reservations so we got a table right away. When we first walked in the hostess said there was a 2hr wait until we mentioned that we had reservations… so either she wanted us outta there, or you really do need to make reservations. Either way, got my near-perfect brunch :) We sat outside, which was lovely

Had a birthday dinner here, and I guess we got lucky cause it wasn’t busy at all. Food was really good, I was surprised to find I enjoyed the salad and side dishes more than the main course. I had grilled chicken but on the side was a delicious pork cube and it was def. the star of the show. Would love to go again! The ambiance is really nice and they will have flowers in a vase at your request(for a price) that you can take home. The only thing is that it’s just really dark, but that might be just me!

One of our favorite St. Louis restaurants — the location, ambiance, service, drinks and especially the food. Certain items a little pricey, but overall a really great restaurant. Usually get the fish special and love The tuna tartare appetizer. Rarely order cocktails. but Scape knows how to make cocktails and the wait staff is really helpful to choose a unique drink. Highly recommend.

We had dinner at Scape this past Tuesday. The place was crowded even on this early week night. I understand why. Everything we had from the cucumber cocktail to the banana pie was just delish. I could not eat all of the large serving of macadamia encrusted chicken but enjoyed it the next day for lunch. Our server was quite knowledgeable and served the food with excellent timing. And… the gazpacho and calamari were such good choices as well. I plan to go back soon.

Everything about our experience was perfect. The outdoor patio is beautiful, so we chose to sit out there. We got the Ahi Tuna appetizer, and were surprised how large it was — and tasty. The cocktails are great — all of them — except the watermelon margarita which is watered down and they took it off our bill. The scallops were divine, but not as divine as their banana cream pie. Our service was awesome, and our server herself was knowledgeable on the entire menu. We’ll be back!

First things first… Travis is like Wikipedia. The somallier who doubles as a scotch ambassador is a dream come true for a couple who has been dipping their toes into the scotch waters. We have a winner: Ardbeg Corryvrecken Lagavulin. The sea bass was scrumptious and the(off-menu) macadamia crusted chicken was divine. So sorry we didn’t plan to do Sunday brunch here… I am salivating just thinking of how yummy the duck hash is!

When: Saturday night @ 7:30PM What we ordered: Rhode Island Calamari-Appetizer Shrimp & Lobster Scampi Lamb Duet Wine Total: ~$ 90 Was it worth it? Yes. We stayed next door to Scape at the Chase Plaza and on our first night out we walked by and decided that we would have to stop by. This was confirmed by my hair dresser and then, the concierge at the hotel. Finally, we went to dinner there and their recommendations were confirmed. Scape is the perfect place for a date night. Candles and low lighting were a nice touch and despite the so-so décor of 80s mirrors and elaborate ceramic vases, it felt cozy but chic. Great place to get dressed up but not necessarily eat in an intimate setting. Calamari was to die for without any chewy rubber bands. And the scampi?! And the lamb duet?! Marvelous. Tasted just as good as they looked. Only suggestion I have is to update the Scape logo and menu design. The italicized Helvetica cheapens the quality and atmosphere of Scape. Choose something classier, Scape! Feel free to message me if you would like some alternative options.

Came here twice in my weekend trip to St. Louis. That’s really all you need to know, but I’ll give some details about the food anyway. We were here as a group of 7 to celebrate a birthday for dinner on Saturday evening. We had very good service over the multi-hour experience, despite a snafu with the table size at the beginning(totally our fault, and handled mostly gracefully by the hostess). We started with three different appetizers: shrimp and grits(a bit spicy, with good sized shrimp), roasted artichoke with brie and mustard sauce(my fave– this was like brie fondue with artichoke dippers), and pork belly(a bit floppy). We then moved on to soups/salads and between us ordered all the different options. I shared my bff’s salad of the day with pomegranate, goat cheese and pistachios, and really liked it. We also had a pretty wide representation of dishes for main courses: scallops, lobster risotto, duck confit, lamb duet, and shrimp pasta. I really enjoyed my lamb– the chop was thick and very well-seasoned, and the braised leg of lamb was extremely tender, although the strings were a bit small for my preference. The lamb came with a side of sautéed radicchio which you will enjoy if you enjoy radicchio. We had a white cake with raspberry for the birthday girl, which everyone really enjoyed. I came back here for brunch the next day(we actually had this reservation for a couple of months, and coming here for dinner the previous night was not decided until that day). We weren’t about to forego the brunch here, especially after our fabulous dinner! The service was a bit less polished at brunch than at dinner, but it was pretty busy and he was nice overall. When I ordered a latte, he made me a snowman with the foam!(You can see it in my photos). We started with the complimentary stuffed pastries– not my style, but the bff enjoyed them! I ordered the chicken and waffles, which came with a delicious pecan banana syrup. The waffles themselves were very good– airy and crispy. The chicken was a boneless chicken breast with skin, and I’m more of a dark meat girl. Still– this was juicy on the inside and crisp on the outside. I’d order this again. My friend ordered the chilaquiles, which she enjoyed but found a bit on the spicy side. I’m positive I’ll be back on one of my future trips to St. Louis!
