Beer Barrel Pizza & Grill

Excellent pizza and if I had to rate it’s the best pizza I’ve had to date. The atmosphere was excellent to match the service we received. We had a 4 topping original pizza and opted for dessert afterwards. I got the NY Cheesecake with cherries. To my surprise it was quite good. I like a little firmer cake but this one was chilled and tasty. We sat in an elevated booth that was comfortable but more made for two people instead of four. Overall I enjoyed the experience as this was my first time at this location. I’ve been to the Lima Ohio location once and feel the quality I received there was as good as this location.

Went for break from the normal for lunch. Ordered the BBQ bacon burger — mistake. Not sure what was going on, but it was one of the worst burgers I’ve had in a while. It was as though it had been cooked long before I arrived and sat under the warmer waiting on someone to order it. Definitely will not be my choice to return any time soon.

Best French Onion soup EVER! Stuffed pasta melted in my mouth! Waitress was helpful and kept my glass full which is doing something. Atmosphere was welcoming. Well worth the price and the drive.
Restaurant is strong supporter of homeless and needy veterans. Tell them thank you when you stop by.

Just passing through and didn’t want fast food. Tried this spot in spite of the reviews. We had a thin crust spicy Thai chicken pizza and it was delicious. Could have come a little sooner but the place was full so that’s to be expected. Will stop again on another trip.

Good food and good service. Walked in and the place was packed. First time here and the server had lots of recomendations Server had my order right and food was cooked perfectly. Was kind of noisy but with with a full restaurant that is to be expected. I would go back.

Good Food. Bad Service. The owners really should read some of the reviews on here and do something about it. I went there with my brothers and father. After we all finished eating my dad still never got his food, as simple cheeseburger. When we asked the waitress about it, she said she would check on it, no apology or anything. He never did get it. Wont be going back.

I was really excited to have a new restaurant in town. At first it was great, for the first month. Then it was never the same. We have tried again a few times, and consistency is a real problem here. One time it’s just ok, then the next time the same item (Pizza) is just really bad. Very very disappointed. Good bye Beer Barrel.

We took our family to the SM location so that we could have the staff sing to the 1 yr old for her birthday. I asked at least 3 times and no singing. Very disorganized and lack of service. Once again … Food good but the rest is terrible
They called and are sending a gift card…

I was told to come here by the locals while I was doing an install job. Came here for lunch and it took 15 minutes to get a drink refill and it was 20 minutes before they took our order. Locals came in and were served before us. If you aren’t a local, don’t come here, they just don’t give equal service to outsiders. Obviously still a little redneck town. So sad.

This place sucks, I am literally up the road at a hotel. The website says delivery, so I placed a call to get a delivery and they said they only delivered to area businesses. Last time I checked a hotel was a business. So even though I’m paying by credit card (in case they think it was a prank) they refused to deliver. The lady said if it’s not a business she could deliver if there was multiple people. So I guess my wife and I staying in a hotel is not considered multiple people

Went there for Chicago deep dish pizza, what we got was just a pizza cooked in a deep dish, and the pizza was only half of the dish’es thickness. Crust was hard to chew, could have a much better pizza in Pizza Hut.
Fried green bean as appetizer which was pretty good.
The place was too noisy, and you can’t pre-​order the pizza while waiting for the table.

I was in New Bremen for a class and was staying in St. Marys. I visited the Beer Barrel because it was close to my hotel and the hotel staff said the food was great. I ordered the Backyard Burger with fries and a salad and the food was fantastic. The service, however, is a completely different story. The service was awful!!! My waitress could not multi-​task and was running all around, she mentioned several times how busy the restaurant was and how she couldn’t keep up. I’m from Columbus and felt the restaurant was no where near «busy». While the food was great, the service was terrible.

Beer Barrel is as about exotic as the Lima area gets. At least they have more than domestic pilsners on tap. Pizza is good, but you can get pizza from a million different places in Lima. Some of the «west coast thins» are unique. The chicken chunks with carolina gold bbq are pretty darn good. The service is inconsistent– usually I opt for pick up in the drive-​thru. Live music of varying quality played too loud at times. But hey, it’s Lima, so it’s not like there are many options.

A lot of things could be better about this place.
The noise level.
The cleanliness of the dishes (butter pecan pudding plate had sticky stains)
For a place with beer in it’s name, they surprisingly didn’t have many non lite if any beers. I also don’t think they had any local crafts.
Saving grace or maybe harder axe is that the serving size of their beers. Medium size tank is at least a quart of beer, I’m pretty sure the tall would be just a pitcher to you.
Angry Orchard on tap is nice but other than that I have to say their beer selection sucks.
Food — I had Shepherds pie. Mystery meat? Other than that, it tasted pretty good.
Cheesesteak sandwich — Okay could be better, meat not really cheesesteak quality
Butter pecan pudding — aside from nasty plating it was delicious.
Place is probably better enjoyed drunk when you are not so picky about cleanliness or good service rather then when you are just trying to have a normal dinner with your future father in law who is in a pissy mood.

Food is ok. Pizza is good but it depends who is working the ovens. Hit or miss underdone or overdone and pricey. Very loud on the weekends and during football. It is impossible to have a table conversation with all the noise and the fact they have packed tables in every square inch of the building. If you are looking for a bar that happens to serve expensive food this is your place. Plenty of drinking time as you wait for a open table.

We’ve ate here twice for lunch. The first time the place was open only two weeks. The waitress, new I understand was clueless to the menu and the beer on tap.
Second time was better though we knew going in what we wanted. Service was ok, small lunch crowd, not busy. Oh, our first waitress is still working their, perhaps she caught on by now.
Food was ok by barrel standards, we got the perch sandwich and salads, French onion soup was ok.
This barrel has a different vibe than the Lima locations, softer, quieter. Talked to a friend in management that clams they don’t see as many «regulars» as beer drinkers as Lima does. The whole 20 beers in 10 days goes unnoticed.

I had great hopes for this place! Too bad it has deteriorated to the point I will never go back. Terrible service, mediocre food and this is the second time I’ve been there that has resulted in Montezuma’s revenge. They need to train the waitstaff how to work in a real restaurant… where is the management?

Well, I have to say it was VERY disappointing to have dinner here tonight. This is the second time I have been to this particular restaurant location. Just doesn’t measure up to the other ones in Lima.
Ordered french onion soup along with roasted turkey salad with pecans. The soup was warm not hot. The roasted turkey salad had so many noodles on it that it should have been «noodles with alittle lettuce salad». I told the waitress I should have said something sooner but I believe I ate too much before I mentioned it — so just let the kitchen know for future information. She agreed that it looked to be too many noodles.
Others I was with also had french onion soup that was warm, not hot. The fries were warm not hot, but the fish sandwich they had was hot. Seems that the food was held up to be served all together.
This place is less than a year old.
