We had been here before a few times and the food was excellent. Went back last night for the prime rib special. We were seated right away at a table in the bar area. The hostess promptly brought us water and menus and said a waitress would be with us soon. We sat for 15 minutes. No waitress. A gentleman that came in after us got seated and served as we just sat. We ended up leaving and going to another nearby place with far much better service. Won’t be going back to Bennet’s.

We visited Bennett’s for their Thursday night ½ price burger special, based on the recommendation of a friend that described it as «the best burger in St Paul.» The inviting, cozy interior of Bennett’s makes you forget that you’re visiting a neighborhood bar. Although you can find a $ 4 Hamms or Miller Lite, you’ll also find a huge cocktail and martini menu. Burgers range from $ 10 to $ 14 on the menu — but can be had for half the price on Thursdays, with a few exceptions(excludes their ‘Surf & Turf’ burger and ‘Pepper Cheese Supreme’) We opted for the Juicy Juanita(a Juicy Lucy filled with pepperjack cheese) and the Big Ben, a double-decker with the works. Burgers are served medium rare — or to your liking. Although their Jucy Luicy has been voted best in St Paul, we didn’t find the Juicy Juanita to be anything special. However, we reveled in the Big Ben — a good, no-frills take on a classic burger. It’s unlikely to disappoint… especially if you upgrade your standard fries to Poutine(aka«Hoser Fries»). The standard fries served with campfire sauce(a mix of catsup and ranch) is also a good choice. At ½ price, we had no complaints. Bennett’s offers a complete, upscale menu with steak, ribs, and seafood. I’m planning to bring the whole family back soon for $ 11.95 Flat Iron steaks on Weds night. The price of each meal includes a tap beer for dad. Worth noting that Bennett’s has dog-friendly sidewalk seating available. .

Bar ambiance with a food menu that ranges from quality barfood to fresh seafood and steakhouse style dishes. Been here many times and everything is scrumptious… get the crab cakes.

Monday night is the time to go! If there are no Sports Events going on, on Monday, they have half price Apps. Crab Cakes, Scallops, Bacon wrapped Shrimp, Wings, etc… WOW they’re fantastic Make sure you call to double check first. Drinks aren’t the strongest but the bartenders are great and so are the Apps

I am glad I had a certificate to try out new places. This is one of those places where I am glad I didn’t pay full price. My friend and I ordered two appetizers as well as full rack of ribs and steak. We were looking for some savory dessert to end the night… it didn’t happen. $ 90.00 later. we forced some dry steak down… the ribs were fall off the bone… I am a meat lover… but when I say that the green beans were my favorite of the night… that should tell you something. It’s very cramped. Don’t expect to have a conversation. It’s a bar. Duh. :)

We moved to St Paul from Las Vegas, found this gem by happenstance. My wife, 6 year old and I go to Bennetts at least once a week. A solid American menu with proper portions. A well know happy hour and during the warm weather outside seating. The wait staff has always been attentive, overall I would recommend for: Bar scene, for a family dinner, appetizers and entrees and if your like us a few drinks with a great atmosphere.

This is one of my absolute favorite restaurants! Food is top notch! I’m giving u a 5star rating, but that being said, whoever was cooking tonight(2⁄22) could use some retraining… Cajun pasta was way off tonight, and my chop salad was soupy with the amount of dressing. I ordered delivery so that’s why I’m Unilocaling this feedback.

We enjoy Bennett’s, and have dined here regularly. The meal we had this time started with the crab cakes. Having had these in the past, we were expecting better. The recipe they now use seems to be different and a lot less crabby and flavorful. They’ve gone from being delicious to ok. For our mains, we ordered the Chicken Kiev and the Pork Chops. The chicken comes with a wild rice and green beans side. I gave avoided wild rice, for the most part, since moving to Minnesota. For all its popularity, not many establishments know how to prepare it well. Bennett’s is NOT one of those places. The wild rice is delicious and goes perfectly with the chicken. On to the Pork Chops. While these are still tasty, they’re smaller and less tender than they used to be. This is another dish we’ve ordered regularly. We still felt happy about our meal until we made the mistake and ordered carrot cake for dessert. This is the second worst carrot cake we’ve ever had, beaten only by the horror available at Baker’s Square. This cake did not taste at all of carrots and was dry, dry, dry, and crumbly. The frosting was NOT a cream cheese version and seemed to be some over-sized shortening attempt at some sort of spackling vehicle. My final comment is that someone there stole my gloves, as well. Other than dessert and theft, we have reason to return to Bennett’s, and We will.

26 years in St. Paul and have never been here. It was an overcast day and the mac and cheese sounded good. It has a delicious cheese sauce smothering it, topped with tomatoes and bacon. I had a cup of soup to start. They don’t do the Friday clam chowder, but they did a vegetable beef soup. Not the tiny cubes of beef normally in these, but super tender, plentiful strips. The flavor made it the best I ever had. The menu itself is enticing, brunch on weekends, I immediately added a Hogg event.

I love Bennett’s. It’s comfortable, prices are reasonable and the food has always been very good. The happy hour is awesome as are the sliders they serve for $ 4. Great dirty martinis which are my favorite. Nice that you can go there and get a free ride to the Xcel for a game or concert, or St. Patrick’s Day Parade… Always friendly and always good. It’s my favorite place to go. Meatloaf, burgers, steak and pasta are great. Risotto is amazing(served as a special). I got the crab legs on a Friday Special and won’t do that again. It’s expensive and the crab legs aren’t that good. Snow crab, so, no big surprise. There are much better items on the menu. They have a good wine selection and really good Martinis.

I have been here a few times already watching Pittsburgh sports with friends. The restaurant is warm and welcoming and the service is quite good. I have ordered the St. Paul stacker sandwich, a Pittsburgh signature sandwich. Very tasty and huge! They have good weeknight specials… The flat iron steak is a great value. My favorite item has been the Seafood Risotto. A cascade of complex flavors blending into a superb dish. My only issue is there is no mention in their menu of desserts… As it turns out they have them… Must be a secret. Pro tip… They offer free shuttle service to and from the Minnesota Wild games. Free parking in the area so save the parking and go grab some good food at this family place.

Stopped for a quick lunch. Wrong place for quick. A meatloaf sandwich and Mac and cheese took over Half hour to get. Meatloaf sandwich was like a tiny burger with boxed spuds. Mac and cheese dry. Truly over priced for nothing special.

Very hit and miss. When they hit, they hit it big. The Tomahawk Ribeye, baked potato, house chop salad Was phenomenal(spendy but worth it) When they miss, they miss big. Pork chops could have been great but they were overcooked to the point of being very dry. Undercooked green beans. Fries with rib sauce were way oversalted. Cheesy potatoes had a «different» taste. Brocolli cheese soup had mustard taste. Wait staff was friendly and helpful but not overly friendly. We had a 50% off coupon that made the prices bearable. I would not go back without the coupon but the Tomahawk Ribeye was one of the best steaks I have had in my life. I expect to go back when I get another coupon and I won’t be straying far from my tried and true favorite here.

We stopped in for a bloody on a Saturday afternoon and were pleased with the the consistency and spice. The garnishments were practically a small appetizer, too. We ordered beef tenderloin tips, bacon-wrapped shrimp, and Reuben egg rolls. The tips were really tender and came with sides of horseradish and Bearnaise sauce. Decadent and delicious. The Reuben egg rolls were fresh and flavorful, with thousand Island dressing on the side. They might be better than the sandwich! The bacon wrapped shrimp were large and juicy and sported some lovely grill marks. I went back and had the ribs and they’re some of the best around Everything was spot-on, and I’m anxious to go back. For the price, you can definitely do better décor wise, but this place is all about delicious food, and they’ve absolutely got that part down. The staff is friendly and they are proud of the food they serve.

I had a gift certificate for Bennetts. When I was in town I decided to stop by. It’s an older building and in the older part of town. It wasn’t quite what I was expecting but I love little places like this, sometimes they are the diamond in the rough. It was a beautiful day so we decided to sit out on the patio and the waitress that served us was was great. We ordered our lobster pot pie, some of their nuclear wings and the St Paul stacker. The pot pie was delicious. There were big chunks of lobster and it was plentiful. The wings on the other hand were totally lame, not Nuclear whatsoever, more like a sparkler. The Saint Paul stacker sounded absolutely delicious but it was a kind of a flop. The bread they used was just too dry and I really wish they would’ve at least try to toast it and slap some butter on there but it was just too much to swallow. The sandwich has a lot more potential but I think they just need to change a couple things. The prices are a little high and and all the food I ordered wasn’t exactly a homerun but I may just give them a try again and get something else.

Went on Friday evening. A Lenten fish fry special, but chose the Creole meatloaf. Delicious! The chicken cajun fettucine was also good, but too many mushrooms for my taste. A very homey atmosphere. The owner greeted us and the wait was less than suggested. Extensive cocktail selections. Service friendly and courteous. Would definitely go back.

Went for the seasonal Friday night fish fry. Had reservations so my two lovely dinner companions and I were seated immediately. Martinis seem to be a big deal here so so it was martinis all around. Put in our orders for the fish fry and the food came out right away, even before we got our drinks — a little too fast actually. The deep fried cod had a nice light batter and was good, though nothing outstanding. The fries were blah, and the coleslaw was just plain flavorless. Martinis were swell but since they came after our food we were sipping them with our meal. I would have rather had the martini with some conversation before the meal, and a glass of wine with the meal. Service was outstanding with our very friendly and attentive waitress, and the atmosphere was fun — a great neighborhood bar vibe. I might go back, but not for the fish fry. The rest of the menu looks very good, though pricey, and worth a second chance.

Going with three stars for now, but could very easily be upgraded if I return and try some different menu items. Went with a quite large group of people, and the service was quick and friendly. I went with the Bennett’s Pepper Cheese Supreme Burger because they have an optional challenge associated with it: eat three of them(a pound of meat per burger) plus fries and you get on the«wall of fame»(which I could not find). I only ordered one, and it was plenty. If there is no time limit, I could maybe do it on my very best day. A bunch of the other menu items look really good, especially some of the seafood items. On Fridays, they have AYCE crab legs which a number of tables were partaking in. Probably try that next time I go.
