Stopped in here after taking a walk down the strip. Awesome hole in the wall spot, best waffle cones. Watched the waffle cones being hand made at the ice cream bar, very cool. Gelato was amazing and the staff was eager to help you and let you try anything and everything. We had Gelato and ice cream, place is great! Ice Cream was amazing too!

Nice and cool place to sit and eat ice cream amongst other foods hot dogs etc etc ice cream is typical of this type of establishment, a lot of variety ! Too many signs up in the store of specials & foods just have one big olé chalk board or something… parking is available but limited and at an awkward angle

I love this ice cream place. We always come here when we come to Flordia. Sometimes the service sucks when they don’t smile and I don’t feel that warm welcome but their ice cream saves them.

Very excited to visit this place after seeing all the pictures and reading some reviews but when we got there the service was terrible. We walked in and 3 employees standing in the back talking and laughing looked over and yet no one came out to greet us or answer any questions. A couple minutes later, the most«pleasant» girl came out to see«what we want». I told her I wanted the peanut butter supreme and you would think i just insulted her. She said«kay» and then hastily made it, handed it to me and said«what else.». My fiancé ordered and she didn’t say a word but made hers and handed it to her. After sighing… literally sighing, she said«what else…» and then I asked her what the ice cream sandwiches had in them since I’VENEVERBEENTHERE. She glared at me and quickly said«they’re just regular ice cream sandwiches» She took my card and walked to the back where the other 2 employees were laughing and talking and left for a good 3 – 4 minutes before coming back to the Cash Register and handing me the receipt telling me to sign it. After she snatched the receipt back she walked away. I wish I remembered her name, I’m sure with that attitude though she’s used to these reviews. Actually, after reading some of these reviews, it looks like I really shouldn’t have expected too much from these employees. Adequate ice cream for 6 $.I think I’ll go elsewhere next time I’m in town.

We are locals and this is by far the best gelato in town. I’ll save you the trouble of too many choices and indecision: get bananas foster gelato in a pretzel cone. You’re welcome.

Heaven in a cone. If you do not stop at Larry’s and get some ice cream or gelato don’t come back to St Pete. It is heavenly! I try to stop in once a week. Locals do get looked at funny if we are dressed up from work. Get over it snow birds! Not all of us are in flip flops all day.

THEBESTICECREAMSHOPONTHEBEACH. Whenever my husband and my friends are down here with me, we ALWAYS make a point(or two) to visit here. The owners and employees are very friendly. They have lots to choose from(ice cream, gelato, sorbet, hot dogs, etc) I always go with some gelato– so good! No it’s not cheap but you get what you pay for. An adorable family owned ice cream parlor with friendly service and delicious ice cream!

I was pleasantly surprised by all the options offered for ice cream, gelato, and food. So much so that we went back the two remaining nights we were in town. Service was always friendly and greeted immediately with a warm welcome. Can’t wait to go back on our next vacation.

This is one of those ice cream places with an identity crisis. It is just trying to do too much and is a hot mess. They sell 80 varieties of ice cream, gelato, fro yo, and frozen custard, AND a bunch of fast food. However, the servers are space cadets; ours was either brand new, or was just clueless. Also, the low-fat frozen yogurt is a misnomer — they don’t actually have 30 flavors, but a basic vanilla that they can add flavorings too to make into different flavors. Not authentic.

Terrible cross contamination! Allergy beware, didn’t even clean the scoop off between scoops!

Busy but the icecream is worth it! Highly recommend the strawberry cheesecake with some sort of waffle cone. Pretty pricey so many don’t bring the kids along for this one. My cone & scoop were $ 8. Lose a star for price and comfort — not enough room for the amount of guests they are receiving.

I went 4 times over my spring break(6days) and each time the ice cream and gelato were amazing. They have a huge variety and i enjoyed every flavor i got. I also got to meet and get a picture with the famous«Larry». My favorite flavors were Butterscotch Bomb, Rocky Road, Smurf and White choc. raspberry gelato.

Good taste. $ 5 for 2 decent size scoops. Two employees working on an off season evening!!! Glad to see a place not trying to squeeze every last penny out of the payroll. Several picnic tables outside plus a few round tables inside. And a TV(conversation overheard«real basic cable»). Like it.

I should have known this place was trouble when I tried three samples and didn’t like any of them. The cannoli flavor was bland. I ended up with cappuccino and the flavor was good but it was filled with ice chunks. My finance’s pistachio gelato was the worst gelato I’ve ever tasted. The pistachios were soggy and not crunchy at all which leads me to believe it had been sitting in that case for quite some time. And now the thing that brings it from a two star to a one star review. The prices are outrageous at $ 4 for a tiny scoop of gelato. I’m good with paying that much for fresh, homemade gelato. But in this case I would have been happier buying a half gallon of anything else from Publix. Don’t believe the hype. Consider yourself warned!

This is the best ice cream place on St Pete Beach. There are several others; Scoops, Paradise Sweets, Uncle Andy’s, D’Lites, Twistee Treat. What sets Larry’s apart is the wide variety of menu options, having more than just desert(dogs & burgers, etc), ample parking, they accept credit cards, outdoor seating if you want it, nice staff and their willingness to order things that they don’t have(obviously for locals or those who are in town for a while). Some of the others meet some of the above aspects, but Larry’s is the complete package. My mother in law loves German chocolate cake ice cream. We didn’t even know it was an option but they had it one day, so she got it, and loved it. Next time, they were out, but they actually tried mixing a few things to come up with a similar taste. It wasn’t the same but wasn’t bad; they said they would have it back in stock the next time or we could call to check if it was there or when it would be there. We do that every time she’s in town and they’re very good about either having it or being honest about when they can get it. Anyway, it’s an ice cream joint, so there isn’t an extensive amount to talk about, there’s just a check list of things to look for when deciding where to get your sugar fix and Larry’s meets the most of them on St Pete Beach. My absolute favorite place to get desert up and down all the Pinellas beaches is Candy Kitchen in Madeira Beach. It’s a solid 10 minutes or so further north, but the place is just a fun, old school shack that has the perfect mix of corny tourist trap décor, good prices and wide assortment of things that are ridiculously bad for your diet. It’s more of an experience while Larry’s is more of a let me get what I came to get an be on my way happily type place.

YUM! This place has been around a long time and while I have not been in a while it is still the same great place it was 10 yrs ago. If it had not been raining we would have gone to another place for ice cream on the beach so thank you mother nature for steering us this way. It was crowded, but that is a good thing and the staff kept the lines moving. They had enough employees and they were friendly. They have pretzel cones — oh ya!!! They also have about 8 other specialty cones — yum. They have gelato, ice cream, custard and frozen yogurt…many, many options. I had butterscotch somethingerother that had lots of things mixed in. They have sundaes, cones, cups, «blizzards», and many other options. If you are on St Pete Beach give this place a try — enjoy!

Sooo many options! I admit I was a bit overwhelmed. It would’ve been nice to have a little orientation to the menu. For example, with the sundaes I didn’t know if you could choose between soft serve and regular ice cream. My husband and I shared a brownie sundae with 2 scoops of ice cream. While it was tasty, it cost $ 10. I thought that was a bit steep. Also the service could have been better.

We stopped in last night at 8. There were a few people outside, but the cars were starting to unload as we walked up. Fast forward five min. I count six or so people working the counter and an older woman making waffle cones. The smell was amazing and short lived thanks to the«Fab Six or So.» Not ONE had a good attitude. They said«Hi» to the crowd then it went downhill. In fact, the middle aged woman taking care of us which asked who was next and upon raising a hand said, «haven’t you already been helped?» Seriously? Do you see a cone in my hand or the hand of the person next to me? Would I have grabbed your attention for shits and giggles? With everyone still in one place, the other patrons had to search for ice cream and someone to help causing a pile up at the door and throughout the place. I’m sure having one register is an issue when you get busy. That’s where TEAMWORK comes into play. And having to take four more steps to the CC machine looks like a pain too and should probably be mentioned to the owner but for the love of all that is holy, SMILE ladies! We watched two families of 4+ walk in as we were leaving and left as we got to our car. Maybe the line was too long, maybe they too could see the unorganized mess that was at the head of the circus we shall call Larry’s. The ice cream is… eh. Mass produced so nothing special for flavors. Gelato was plenty, but looked old. It had the freezer burn look to some. I had the peanut butter cup with a scoop of salted caramel in a chocolate peanut waffle cone and my man flavor had some peanut butter something from the board in a cup. He enjoyed it. All in all… we won’t return. The frequent ice cream shopper card should maybe be handed out with a recommendation to come back. You’re on the beach. You have regulars and tourist. Being asked if I will be back with such lack luster enthusiasm as if giving said card was a privilege is a waste.

Found this place through Unilocal and was not disappointed. My hubby and I made a trip there on a Saturday afternoon to check out the selection. We both had amazing creations. Wish the staff was a little more knowledgeable about the contents of the ice creams and Gelato. I have a gluten allergy and they didn’t seem to have much guidance on that. I just stuck with stuff I knew would be safe and the results were fab. Will Def go back.
